The image above in the banner is called “Pebbles Fuel the Future” created on behalf of my dear husband Dan Mears, who passed of pancreatic cancer. He worked on pebbles that go in the core of a nuclear reactor for over 40 years. Now they’re being manufactured in Tennessee and are called trios pebbles, a subsidiary of X – Energy.

Inspired by artists such as Friedensreich Hundertwasser, a famous and highly regarded Austrian artists of the twentieth century, incorporating nature and vibrant colors, Susan’s art is abstract, organic, saturated with color, and draws the viewer in.  

Like the artists who influence her, such as Mexican Vladimar Cora whose work has been called neo-figurative, minimalist and coarse, Susan Fielder’s art is neo-primitive, outsider art (a label created by French artist Jean Dubuffet to describe art created outside the boundaries of official culture).  Other influencers are Picasso, Calder, and Miro.

Embracing outsider art, Susan's paintings have a naïve quality some have deemed visionary, schizophrenic, primitive, psychotic, obsessive, compulsive, untutored, vernacular, self-taught, brut, rough, raw, call them what you will.   Stare at the one you like best for a few minutes and you start to see something staring back at you.

She is changing the way we think about helping researchers through her art. Why? She lost her husband to this silent killer and it just made perfect sense to find a way to make a difference. Her first piece was a plaid that she called iPlaid having created it on the ipad. Named on behalf of Steve Jobs, it is the signature piece for the iPlaid program. Which means “Intuitive Passion Launches an Inner Discovery”. With your help, iPlaid can fund researchers to help find a cure. Her passion is to find a way to help find a cure and nothing less.
