2️⃣ I write a weekly email for 2,300+ RevOps & GTM leaders with tactical HubSpot playbooks to steal. 

For the last 2.5 years, I led growth at Arrows, a customer onboarding SaaS product for teams using HubSpot. I joined as the first marketer and helped Arrows grow to more than 7 figures in ARR.

I’m a dad to 2 boys - struggling competitive golfer - and lover of cooking (or grilling). 

Previously, I’ve run both product and growth at early-stage startups and started three of my own.

Over the last 14 years, I have helped scale Sprout Social from $100k to $100m in ARR (and IPO) and held fractional leadership roles with companies like Help Scout, Zylo, Popular Pays, and Hologram.

In 2019, I left my role at Sprout Social to focus on consulting and fractional growth roles so that I could have more flexibility, more time at home with my wife and kids, and the ability to have full control over my life: from when I worked to what I worked on.

In 2020, I co-founded Ten Speed, a content optimization agency focused on helping companies accelerate their organic growth via quality content so that I could leverage my experience in high-growth startups, SEO, and content marketing to help more companies grow. 

When I'm not working on my own company or consulting, I work with founders and VCs on how to find good marketing talent and scale marketing teams and also invest in and support funds and individuals focused on diversifying tech and backing founders and ideas that are often overlooked.

The marketing agency model, and what companies need from an agency partner, has changed dramatically in the last 12 months. As part of that shift, we recently made some hard decisions and bigger changes at Ten Speed to position ourselves to be an excellent partner to our clients in 2026 and beyond.

The first major change is that we removed two roles to increase the number of strategists on our team. Companies do not just need execution. They need a strategic partner they can trust. This change allows us to lower the client-to-strategist ratio significantly, elevate the strategist's role, and give clients direct access to the person building/refining their strategy.

To support this change, Kevin King is more formally stepping into the role of Chief Strategy Officer, leading this team and the innovation behind organic growth strategy, with a clear focus on driving meaningful outcomes for our clients.

The second change is less about org structure and more about the role and purpose of the team itself. For a long time, agencies have functioned as production houses. Places to outsource execution, often lower-level work, so in-house teams could focus on what was considered “more important.”

AI has flipped that dynamic on its head. This has not been a major disruption for us, since we have never focused on low-level production work, but the definition of “production” has fundamentally changed. I believe the best agencies will be the ones that get the balance right between humans and AI, using each where they are strongest.

To support that shift, Ryan Sargent has stepped into a new role as VP of Product. While he has already been doing many aspects of this work, this role allows him to focus fully on how we deliver high-quality outcomes through a mix of our team, trusted contractors, AirOps, MCP servers, and in-house tooling. All with the goal of building durable, optimized services across the many channels and surfaces that now define organic growth for B2B companies.

Together, these changes put Ten Speed in what I see as the agency sweet spot. More strategic than traditional agencies, more flexible and personalized than productized services, and built for how the work actually happens now.

Most larger companies don’t have a content problem; they have a content decay problem.

What’s changed is how decay shows up.

It used to mean rankings dropped and traffic followed. Now, AI search breaks that connection.

A page can still rank and still be decaying if it no longer influences buyers or gets cited in AI answers. If LLMs stop referencing you, you’ve already lost ground, even if analytics look fine.

Here’s how to actually deal with content decay in this environment.

1️⃣ Stop using traffic as your main signal. Traffic is now a lagging indicator. 

Decay shows up earlier in assisted conversions, engagement quality, and whether your content appears in AI Overviews or LLM responses. If impact drops but sessions don’t, the page is still decaying.

2️⃣ Audit content by role, not format. AI compresses buyer journeys. 

Discovery content fading isn't necessarily a huge deal (more nuanced), but content for evaluation and validation fading is dangerous. That’s the content AI pulls into summaries and recommendations.

3️⃣ Diagnose why the page is decaying. 

In most cases, intent has shifted, proof is missing, the format no longer matches what search surfaces, or competitors have stronger credibility signals. If you don’t name the cause, your refresh won’t work.

4️⃣ Decide whether to refresh, merge, or retire. Not every page deserves saving. Keeping decayed content live because it “still gets traffic” can do more harm than good.

When you refresh, don’t start with keywords. Start with trust. Would a skeptical buyer believe this today? Would an AI confidently cite it? If not, the fix is a better perspective, clearer structure, and real proof.

Content doesn’t decay because it’s old. It decays because it stops earning trust. And AI made neglect visible faster.

I've been thinking a lot about the role of GA for marketers and tech stacks and how changes in the last two years have impacted how it is used. 

- GA4 became mandatory in 2024
- Zero-click searches and activities have steadily increased
- AI search has changed the measurability of search surfaces
- A lot of research and evaluation happens in Slack communities
