My story:  Years ago, when I wanted to break into creating direct mail for magazine publishers, I launched a “contact campaign” to just two dozen VPs of circulation at the big Manhattan-based publishing houses. Every one of them responded, agreed to meet and became clients, including Time Life, Condé Nast, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Harvard Business Review and many more. It was a rapid 100% market penetration from a campaign that cost less than 100 dollars.
