I care for children and their families, I mentor students and trainees, I scale medical education for all.

As a pediatric surgeon I provide care for children in the Las Vegas valley and this includes the entire spectrum of pediatric surgical care from extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and correction of complex congenital problems to pediatric trauma, oncology, chest wall reconstruction, hernia repair and a range of other disease processes with a focus on minimally invasive techniques.

I’m passionate about education and created CITIZENSURGEON to scale surgical education for students and trainees leading a time starved life.  With CITIZENSURGEON I’ve connected with people all over the world, from all walks of life and am excited to bring high quality education to every corner of the globe with an internet connection.

On October 1, 2017 Las Vegas suffered a devastating mass casualty incident, the deadliest mass shooting in United States history.  As a surgeon I participated in the medical response at Sunrise Hospital and have had an opportunity to share lessons learned from this event with groups around the country.  We can all be better prepared for these events which unfortunately are now a part of the fabric of life in the America.

Some of the questions I'm thinking about:

1.). How can we deliver high quality, consistent medical education to as many students as possible?

2.). What are the key drivers of burnout and how can we address them individually and as a system?

3.). How can we match mentors with young people interested in medicine?

4.). How can we find joy at every stage of our development?
