I’m moving on from my current role at Coworker.ai

I joined Coworker when it was 6 people, mostly a big idea and a terrific founding team

The founders took a bet on me when I had never led growth at an early stage startup

In that time, we:
- Rebranded from Village Labs and launched as Coworker
- Launched Coworker 1.0 - the enterprise AI with a “company brain”
- Introduced our new messaging and positioning - “the AI agent for complex work”
- Launched Deep Work, OM1, Agents, Fast Mode and several other features

On the growth side:
a. Built a Inbound growth - hundreds of demos from launches, content and network
b. Built a sophisticated intent based outbound engine across email, LinkedIn
c. Launched experiments across warm outbound, paid ads, seo
d. Built $xxM in pipeline, over several hundred calls booked and demos

What I learned:

1. How to build a very sophisticated outbound engine at scale from Daniel and Halen
2. How to do terrific disvoery, and run a tight sales and POC process from Michael Saeta

I've been flirting with AI since 2011, but I actually NEVER WENT DEEP. 

My plan is to change that

I've been hovering around AI for a while: 

- Got a CompSci degree in college 2011
- Took 2 courses on AI and ethics 2013
- Worked at 3 AI startups (Gong, data ai, Coworker) 2019-2025

But I never really went deep. Never really: 

- studied the foundations 
- never setup a proper GitHub
- never shipped small projects 
- never learned how to think in systems
- never learned how to orchestrate with AI

That's changing now. 

6 months ago I got really interested in how to build an internal AI first system for GTM. 

So I decided to re-teach myself, from the basics and foundations up. 

Here is a simple plan I've built for learning AI for GTM as a non-dev. 

- Alternates between theory and Practicals
- Covers the foundations
- Has lots of use cases that I use in my day job as well
- Adapted to my learning style (learn 1 thing -> build 1 thing)

The plan is to spend 5-6 hrs / week for the next 6 moths

xAI just posted a role called "Head of GTM Systems & Agents." One of the most interesting GTM titles I've seen this year. $200-400K comp range. 

Three things jumped out from the JD:

1.) Mandate to *build* GTM agents.
Not "explore AI" or "evaluate vendors." The job is to design and deploy AI agents for the global GTM org.

2.) Expected to generate revenue, directly.
Not supporting revenue or enabling sales. Instead: "deploying AI agents that directly generate revenue." 

3.) Managing agents, not people. 
The JD says "the role *may* expand with additional team capacity based on needs and performance; however, this is not in current plans." i.e. your team is AI agents by default. 

And xAI isn't alone with these kind of roles...

-- Lovable → hiring a GTM Ops lead who is "great at building AI-first." Same philosophy they sell, applied to their own GTM.
-- Black Forest Labs → hiring a "GTM Systems Engineer." Their JD says it: "not RevOps, not engineering. The technical architecture of our business itself."
-- Clay → the company that coined GTM Engineer, recently posted one for their own org. $100M+ ARR. Practicing what they preach.
-- Asana → hiring a "Global AI SDR Programs Manager." A human managing AI that does outbound. Accountable for AI-generated pipeline.


The GTM org evolution is happening fast.

Are these roles a new direction?

Or is this just a rebrand of RevOps?

I'd like to add 1 suggestion to Jeff's great piece about GTM Engineering... HELP MARKETING TOO. Please.

GTM Engineers have important skills.

But 90% of the GTME focus today is outbound/prospecting with some sales enablement sprinkled on top.

Jeff is giving the movement a lot of excellent advice.

I'd just add one simple thing… Extend… hook up the CMO, VP Demand, even head of PR, events team, etc. You can help. Many of you probably already do this. But it doesn't get enough attention.

With all those AI and system building skills you could…

-- Create novel ways to measure brand.

-- Build Clay workflow to run/scale your influencer program.

-- Use the Inflection.io MCP and create agents for adoption/nurture campaigns.

-- Accelerate ABM plays (Clay even has Ads now).

The opportunities in marketing (brand, demand, expand) are basically endless when you look outside the core outbound/prospecting work.

That's a big opportunity for the movement.

Who's already got their GTM eng team working the whole lifecycle?

- Profound $1B valuation. AEO's first unicorn.
- Salesforce buys Momentum.io. 10th acquisition in 6 months.
- Seismic + Highspot merge.
- Clay launches Ads.
- AI app marketplaces get dozens of GTM tools.
- xAI "Head of GTM Systems & Agents." $200-400K.

We're at a point now where everyone "knows" that something big is happening. The hard part is deciding what to follow and how to act.

2025 was AI coding's year. I think 2026 is GTM's year.

Everyone is marketing "AI."

The B2B space has never been noisier for buyers. Smart marketers avoid the "just slap AI on it" trap. They find a clear, unique angle for AI positioning

There are 10 general approaches (% of AI-native companies):

1.) AI for [X] — 37%
"AI for legal." "AI for security." The default formula. 
e.g. Harvey, AlphaSense, Armis.

2.) Agents/Agentic — 26%
The hottest noun and adjective. 
e.g. Databricks: "AI agents trained on your business data." 

3.) AI Platform — 25%
Mistral, Palantir. The infrastructure play.

4.) Autonomous AI — 6%
Self-operating, no humans needed. e.g. Anduril, Figure AI, Wayve.

5.) AI Lab/Research — 5%
Frontier research positioning. Runway: "Building AI to Simulate the World."

6.) Copilot/Assistant — 4%
The helper alongside you. Grammarly: "You think big. We'll take care of the details."

7.) Human-Named AI — 3%
Give the AI a name. Cognition: "We're the makers of Devin." 1mind: "Meet Mindy."

8.) Vibe Coding — 2%
Describe what you want, AI builds it. Lovable: "Build something Lovable." Replit, Bolt, vO.

9.) Superintelligence — 2%
The futuristic claim. Lambda: "The Superintelligence Cloud." Endgame: "Revenue superintelligence."

10.) Adjective + AI — 2%
The extra modifier. "Sovereign." "Trusted." "Safe."

I’m seeing some interesting “Founding” GTM roles open at later stage companies.

These aren’t company founder.

They are anchor hires for a new function, market, or strategy inside of growing companies.

A few that caught my eye…

Reducto --> "Founding AE"
Already a strong PLG motion, $100M+ funding, small sales team. This isn't the first AE, but role suggests a "founding team" mentality.
$300K listed comp.
 
Clay --> "Founding Marketer for EMEA."
The company is on fire, great brand and product, and now pushing into new geographies fast. Sounds like a dream job for a versatile marketer.
 
Glean --> "Founding FDE."
"Forward Deployed" is now a big deal in the post sales AI playbook. Sounds like Glean is investing heavily in the function. They have multiple open roles for FDEs and Forward Deployed PMs.
Comp range is list $160K-$270K.
 
Rox --> "Founding RevOps Strategy & Innovation Leader (Director)."
That title is a mouthful, but the role sounds interesting.
Company is well funded and one that I'm watching in the AI GTM 100.
