Ed Sheeran recently shared the funniest story about meeting Messi.
He said he spent almost three minutes talking non-stop praising him, hyping him, telling him how incredible he was…
and genuinely believing they were having a deep moment.

Meanwhile Messi?

Looking delighted by… something.

Then someone gently whispered to Ed:

Dating and Interview

𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗮𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀.

This video made me pause.
Most of us compare our present life with someone else’s present life…
But we rarely ask the one question that actually matters:

Where did they start from?
Someone might look miles ahead today,
but maybe they began 200 meters in front.

Someone else might seem behind,
but maybe they started 50 meters after the starting line.

We look at outcomes, labels, and positions…and forget that every person’s starting point is different.

Every race is different.
Every advantage and disadvantage is different.
So what exactly are we comparing?

If there’s one thing this clip reminded me of, it’s this:
Your progress makes sense only when measured against your own beginning.
Not anyone else’s.

If you must compare, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱.
𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.
Not where someone else is standing.
And when you look at your own journey that way…you’ll realise you’re doing far better than you give yourself credit for.

I didn’t even see this when Suman first posted it, she had shared it with me, but I was buried in work. Then I suddenly found it on my feed… and it completely made my day. 💛

One of the toughest parts of this work is that people rarely share their experiences publicly, even when the transformation runs deep.

So when someone does, and does it so beautifully, it means the world. 🙏

We have a weekly session where we learn about how communication in the right manner can bring about the changes we are expecting out of us. Yesterday during the activity session I picked up the topic #change

Though there were very amazing topics, yet this one resonated with me the most. 

WHY

Because in the last few months after joining April Strong, 💪 ACC (ICF) for her sessions, the only thing constant in my life is CHANGE.

Some of the beautiful sentences which have brought the change.

1. If you are not programming your brain, it's still getting programmed.
2. Taking a pause - is my strength.
3. My state will lead my situation.
4. Who do I want to be today? 
5. Every challenge is an opportunity to prove my strength.
6. Productivity means doing what matters the most.
7. We don't get energy from others, we carry our own.

And many more along the journey.

This is a #gratitude post and I wish a lot of people can get benefitted by taking that leap of faith as I took.

I remember this video every time it felt like building a mindful mindset. This video mirrors how we create the change in our life by choosing being mindful and aware.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗜 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗲

I didn’t choose how I was born.
But I did choose who I became.

In April 2020, after losing everything 
…I made one choice:
To stop surviving.
And start building someone new.

That person needed a new name.
Not a name tied to pain.
But a name rooted in power.
That’s when 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 was born.

Not my birth name.
My rebirth name.

She asks me just one question every morning:
How can I make today count?

Back then, when my future looked like a pitch-black tunnel, a friend said, “Take one day at a time.”

It took me time to understand that. But when I understood that statement. 
I clung to it.
And today, I want to be that friend for you.

When you’re in pain, life feels like an ugly, endless road.
But that’s only because you can’t see clearly yet.

Every dawn is a doorway.
And every day is a chance to begin again.

“Take one day at a time.” and tell me

Your heart beats faster.
Your palms sweat.

We instantly label it as nervousness or anxiety.

But physiologically, it’s the same feeling as excitement.
A fascinating Harvard study tested this.

Participants had to do nerve-wracking tasks like public speaking and mental math under pressure.

But one group was told to say out loud - “I’m excited!” before starting.

Guess what happened?

They felt more confident. They performed better.

Because they reframed their stress as enthusiasm.

🧠 The mind believes what you tell it.
 Change your words, and you change your experience.

So the next time you feel those butterflies.
Don’t calm them. Train them to fly in formation. 🦋

This clip felt very real to me.

The first woman didn’t get priority because she had influence.
She mattered because she cared.
She showed up every year.

She supported the bakery even in lockdown when no one was stepping out.

She ordered pies she didn’t even pick up… just so the shop would feel seen, supported, remembered.
And that’s what the owner remembered.

Not the order.
Not the money.
But the feeling.

It reminded me how human we all are underneath everything we do.
Sometimes people become important to us simply because they’ve shown us a little warmth, a little consistency, a little kindness over time.

We think relationships are built through big moments.
But when I look closely, maybe they’re really built on small gestures and care.

“𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗜 𝗺𝗲𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿-𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝗹𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻...”

A few days ago, I got a message that made me sit up straight.

It was from Ruben Gonzalez ❄️

Four-time Olympian.
Best-selling author.
Leadership keynote speaker for over 100 Fortune 500 companies.
A man whose TED talk has crossed a million views.

And his message simply said, “𝘓𝘦𝘵’𝘴 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘯 𝘢 𝘡𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭.”

For a moment, I felt like a kid who just got picked for the school relay team.

I had first heard of Ruben through Srikanthan Kumarasamy. I remember listening to him then. He remembered his childlike excitement that filled the whole room. 

So imagine my joy when we finally spoke one-on-one.

What struck me this time was not the medals, not the accolades, not even the decades of Olympic appearances.

It was how he began.

Ruben didn’t grow up training on ice.
He didn’t start luge at four like other Olympians.
He didn’t come from a winter-sport culture.

He started at 21.

Twenty-one is the age most athletes peak.
For luge, it’s pretty late.

But Ruben had one strength that defined his entire life:

He never quits.

When he saw a list of Olympic sports, he didn’t pick the popular ones. He didn’t pick the ones he understood.

He picked the most dangerous one.

His logic made me smile.

“If a sport is extremely tough, most people will quit.
If most people quit and I don’t, I’ll eventually make it.”

That was his entire strategy.

He shared how he made one call and said 
“I want to learn luge. I want to be in the Olympics in four years. Will you help me?”

No fancy story. No glamorous facilities. No special privileges.
Just grit, clarity, and a willingness to choose the hard road because it matched his strengths.

That’s the part that stayed with me long after the call.

Ruben didn’t succeed despite starting late.
He succeeded because he understood himself.

He knew perseverance was his superpower.
So he chose a sport where perseverance could beat talent and time.

And he never looked back.

Talking to him reminded me of something I often tell my clients:
Success gets easier when you stop fighting who you are.

I was this close to giving up.
Not in life.
Not at work.
But in a relationship that mattered more than my ego.

And then one day, in the middle of yet another conflict, I tried something different.

This was something I read in a book a long time ago.. I took a breath and said:
 “Can I share what’s going on inside me… before we talk about what’s happening between us?”

Everything changed.
Defensiveness softened.
Blame paused.

For the first time, we were talking with each other, not at each other.
That day I learned something powerful:
Your words may not always heal,
but your truth, spoken gently, can open a door you thought was already closed.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗛𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗱.

A growing consulting firm had a team member named Arjun, who was labelled as “unresponsive” and “slow to deliver.”

His manager believed Arjun simply wasn't communicating enough during meetings.

So the manager did what most people do: he kept talking more: more instructions, more check-ins, more reminders.

But the situation didn’t improve.

In fact, Arjun became quieter.
During one particularly tense review call, the HR partner sat in.

Instead of adding more instructions, she asked one simple question:
“Arjun, can you walk us through what’s getting in your way?”

For the first time, Arjun felt someone wasn’t trying to talk over him they were trying to understand him.

What came out surprised everyone:
The project brief he received had contradicting requirements
He was copying two different leads who were giving opposite directions. 
And he didn’t feel safe speaking up because every time he tried, he was interrupted

The issue was not poor performance.
The issue was zero listening.

Once the team paused to listen instead of talk:
The workflow was clarified
The conflicting instructions were aligned
Arjun’s delivery rate shot up
The manager said, “I had no idea I was creating the confusion.”

All because someone asked, not told.
Listened, not lectured.

Most communication problems don’t come from not saying enough.
They come from not hearing what’s already being said.
Great communicators don’t fill the room with words. 
They create space for others to speak.
