The word of 2025 explains why content feels so empty right now.

Here’s my POV as a science communication strategist who creates content for longevity leaders for a living. 

The word of 2025 by Merriam-Webster Inc. is: slop 

It means low quality, mass produced digital content, powered by AI.
Often AI generated, rushed, repetitive, and made to grab attention rather than add value. 


You’ve seen it before: recycled posts, fake experts and shallow takes. “Top 3 tips to <solve x pain point>.” 

They’re rushed, repetitive, and made to grab attention.

Do they add any value?
I’m not sure.

The truth is that it’s never been easier to build a personal brand.

Mass create content using AI,
post three to five times a day,
and be ‘seen’, without being remembered.

People can feel the lack of authenticity and emptiness of such content.

And honestly, I don’t see it helping you build a memorable personal brand that drives visibility and credibility.

It’s not worth it. 

The shift I predict for 2026 is that people will start prioritizing for authentic content. 

Content written from your heart. 
Content that has your soul. 

It could be longer form, less edited, less fancy hooks. 
And consumed more mindfully. 

Most importantly, it’ll be YOU. 

And that is why I feel so much pride in the work that we are doing at Scicomwiz,

It can’t be the bridge between who you are now 
and who you are becoming, 
and holding that with care in how it uses your words.

On a deep societal level, the rise of AI is forcing us to be more authentic than ever. 
And I’m so here for it!

They assumed I already was.

There was something confronting about that.

Here’s what helped me get over my fear:

So, stop telling yourself you’re not qualified, good enough, or worthy.
𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤-𝐢𝐧-𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐚𝐲.

Will it ever stop being scary?
It’ll reduce every time you show up. 

Your biggest critic is inside your head. 
If you don’t get out of your own way, you’ll miss out on the most amazing, serendipitous experiences.

You could live longer and healthier if you love your job.

You know the feeling when you meet someone who truly LOVES their job? 
The energy is contagious. 

Last month, I met a receptionist at a hotel doing his job with so much love and joy.

His enthusiasm stayed with me and it made me wonder: 
So many people are unhappy in their current jobs. 
That adds stress and impacts their health and lifespan negatively.  

Wouldn’t it be great to do work that aligns with your life’s purpose instead?
My receptionist is a great example.

And science agrees with this, too.

Studies show that people who have a stronger sense of purpose in life have a reduced risk of death over time.

And that’s not all.

A strong purpose also links to healthier behaviours like:
↳ better sleep
↳ healthier body weight
↳ higher physical activity levels

And the best thing of all? 
All this can support your longevity.

On average, 1/3rd of your life, approximately 90,000 hours, is spent working. 
That’s not even taking into account overtime, entrepreneurship, or juggling jobs. 

What if you could add purpose to that, too? 

Ask yourself: 
What brings you joy? 
What are you passionate about? 
What gets you out of bed in no time? 

Once you find your purpose, design your life so it helps you fulfil it.
