Last week I attended my 4th HR Cafe 
event by ENGAGE. It was too good! 🔥 

Selma helped us kick off with a fun chat about our funniest or most embarrassing office moments.

Mine was: "I once broke my nose after a football game and went to work the next day with a crooked nose. Visited the doc after work, and he said: 'Don't be late next time', as he casually SNAPS my bone back in place with his bare thumbs." 😂 

Later, we dove into 'biases' with a 
fun MCQ game, led by Hisham.

Some common ones:

1. Affinity Bias: favoring people like ourselves. 
Reminder: hire for potential, not just familiarity.

2. Confirmation Bias: seeing what we want to see. 
Reminder: keep an open mind in interviews.

3. Anchoring Bias: sticking to first impressions. 
Reminder: evaluate candidates holistically.

Danny shared a real story that completely 
reframed how we see hiring and leadership.

A founder wanted to attract ten C-level leaders who shared his values. There were no job posts and no recruiter calls. Instead, he sent ten iPods, each carrying a personal message. A heartfelt invitation to join his vision.

It wasn’t about the gadget. 
It was about how it made them feel.

It said “If this is how he leads before we even join, imagine what it’s like to build with him.”

8 out of 10 accepted.

People don’t remember offers. 
They remember experiences.

That one gesture created something powerful: belief, loyalty, and connection. The kind of culture money cannot buy. 

Imagine the ripple effect: 

8 strong leaders → stronger culture  → better experiences for everyone → better retention → better profits.

🏆 Experience is the new loyalty!

Danny Seals' philosophy is simple but profound. Work is not a transaction anymore. It is a subscription.

People do not stay because they have to. They stay because they want to renew the experience. Every interaction, from the first message to the last day, is a touchpoint. Each one either strengthens or breaks that emotional subscription.

"We were all hired for the same mission."

I’ve been thinking about 
something for a while.

In the UAE, we have over 200 
nationalities living side by side.

People from every corner of the world, 
working hard to build better lives for 
their families and loved ones.

But sometimes, we still hear 
the same painful lines:

“Egyptians are rude.”
“The British think too much of themselves.”
“Indians are everywhere.”
Even comments about locals.

We forget that behind every accent,
every skin tone, every passport,
there is a story, a struggle,
and a shared purpose.

That British manager you saw?
He just hired an Indian engineer.
That engineer worked with a Pakistani 
designer and a Filipino technician.
They were supported by an Emirati 
Logistics lead and a Sudanese driver.

And together, they completed something incredible. A next generation water purification system that now provides clean water to thousands of workers living in Somalia, a nation facing the worst drought in decades.

Different nationalities.
Different languages.
Different faiths.

But one mission.

The Emirati prayed for its success.
The Indian stayed late to fix a valve.
The Pakistani drew the blueprint.
The Brit handled the permits.

And the Israeli consultant 
who joined the project?

He dedicated it to the memory 
of his best friend from Palestine.
He said quietly,

“May this save more lives 
than war ever could.”

Years later, the Somali
youth built on that legacy.

They designed hovering aero collectors that drift across the skies like silver seeds. These machines absorb humidity through sun powered membranes and send it to floating water hubs high above the desert.

Those stations release streams of clean water back to earth like man made rain, bringing life to places that have not seen clouds in years.

What began as one act of compassion became a network that turned the sky into humanity’s water source.

That is the world we should believe in.

A world where differences become design, not division. Where people are not hired for where they are from but for what they can fix, build, and heal together.

We were not placed here by accident.
We were recruited by purpose.

“O mankind, We created you from a male and a female, and made you nations and tribes so that you may know one another.” — Qur’an 49:13

Please do not pick a side.
Pick humanity.

See people for who they are 
and who they strive to become.
Maybe that is the real test of our time.

Not how we compete,
but how we complete each other. 🌹

You are what you feed your mind.
You are what you seek. 💙

You're amidst hundreds of people online and offline. Finding your path. You're curious about how your friend made a million in tech sales or real estate, or another, is a pilot, which was once your dream job. You're clearly happy for them.

You're figuring out what works for you while connecting the dots, yet you're left puzzled, and ask yourself. When do I finally make it big? When do I get my dream home, car or when do I save up for marriage? Truth is, there will always be something more; The next golden step. You have to keep going regardless. 

There's 3 ways to this: 

1. You build a strong mindset for trying new things, for being uniquely you, for choosing the road less travelled by, and never give up.

2. You give back: You share what you know, or have. Knowledge, Wisdom, Wealth etc. There's always someone out there with less. You can CHANGE their lives.

3. You put in the work, take help from your circle, and leave it up to God. Why won't He open doors for you, if you've asked, and tried?

Here's a verse from the Qur'an, about "Trusting in God's plan" and "Provision".

“And He (Allah) will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine. And whosoever puts his trust in Allah, then He will suffice him. Verily, Allah will accomplish his purpose. Indeed Allah has set a measure for all things.” 65:3 - Qur'an.

You're in full control of what you choose to be. Over the years you've been told that you become what you feed your body, or mind. Why allow thoughts that don't compliment to your growth or success?

If you're filling your mind with negative thoughts you can't control, from people you don't wish you succeed with, you're going to bring that out on others.

You're living a life in a cacoon, thinking you'll be saved one day, when it's YOU who's meant to BREAK FREE. Regardless of which stage you're at: Egg, Larva, Pupa or Adult:

Live each transition as you grow, and be humble enough to know you can start anew. From stage 1, or 2, until you'll learn how to fly again. 🦋
