April has over 25 years of professional experience in employee development and leadership training, organizational development and strategic planning consulting, outcome and performance measurement, program evaluation and analysis, grant and contract prospecting, capture, and proposal development, and executive coaching for government, corporate, nonprofit, and higher and secondary education clients. 

In her current position as the Executive Director of the FAA Center of Excellence for Technical Training and Human Performance, she is responsible for managing multi-institution and interdisciplinary research teams working on studies in the areas of human performance, human error, human-machine learning, unmanned aircraft systems, urban air mobility, augmented and virtual reality training, and NAS safety.
