Writing is my dream and I have been living it for the last ten years.

My first piece of writing was a blog I published on a ‘flower’.

I never had the chance to look back at it because of how cringe it was.

But today, I write for some of the most powerful people who run big companies that my mind can only fathom.

So maybe I do have to thank that ‘flower’ blog after all.

Once I realised the power writing has on personal and professional life (I mean I am making money off of pushing a few buttons on my keyboard), I realised how powerful this can be for others as well.

So I started writing for others and never looked back.

Today, I write for Founders and CEOs and help tell their story online.

At a white label retail exhibition at ExCel London last week, a 23-year-old with a Sharpie sign reminded me how much I used to overthink things.

Her setup was as basic as it gets.
One product.
A sign she made in five minutes.
A tablecloth that was clearly grabbed last minute.

But she showed up.
She spoke to anyone who stopped.
No over-preparation.
No trying to look more established than she was.

I remember being her age and treating every product decision like it was life or death.
Researching obsessively.
Asking too many opinions.
Delaying because choosing felt like commitment.

Meanwhile… she was just trying.

And I caught myself thinking:
“Why did I make my early years so heavy?”

Most people aren’t scared of choosing wrong.
They’re scared someone will see them choose.

Honestly it’s that easy. We just love over complicating things.

It took three 20-somethings from Germany to show me something about founders I coach every week.
And honestly, I haven’t stopped thinking about it.

It’s strange how a casual conversation can reveal so much.

My younger cousin was visiting with her boyfriend and her friend.

They’re all finishing college, figuring out what comes next.

We were sitting around my dining table talking about work and money and choices.

And the thing that stood out to me was how normal it is for them to learn by doing.
 
They’ve grown up with apprenticeships.

They get paid while learning.
 
They make small decisions early.
 
Action doesn’t feel heavy to them.

The more they spoke, the more I realised how many founders I meet who wait months before the first step.

 They think they need full clarity before they move.

 But half the clarity comes from moving.

Talking to them reminded me how simple starting can feel when you haven’t collected years of fear or old stories of “what can go wrong.”

At 25, they’re thinking, “Let me just try it.”

At 37, many of us think, “What if it fails?”

And honestly, once you take one small action, that fear starts to quiet down.
 
That’s what I took away from that conversation.

The earlier you learn to take small steps, the less dramatic starting feels.

I nearly launched the wrong product once.
Looked great on paper — nice margins, everyone said it sounded smart.

But here’s the truth:
no one actually wanted it.

I spent weeks trying to convince myself it would work — changing photos, rewriting copy, changing the price and giving 50% off, blaming the shitty packaging.

But deep down, I knew.

I hadn’t tested it.

I’d just… hoped.

That’s a hard lesson to learn.

Because you don’t just lose money — you lose confidence.

Now I never guess.
 
If an idea doesn’t prove itself early, I drop it and move on.

It’s not about getting it right the first time — it’s about finding out what’s worth getting right at all.

If you’re ending the year exhausted, not proud — you’re not alone.
I used to hit this time of year completely drained.

The days got shorter, the to-do list longer, and I’d convince myself I just needed to push a little more.

But that’s the lie most founders live inside —
that working harder fixes everything.

It doesn’t.

It just hides the problem for a bit.

When I finally slowed down and looked properly, I realised half the things keeping me busy weren’t actually moving the business forward.
 
They just made me feel productive.

Now I use this season differently.

I tidy up my systems, cut what’s not working, and plan from a calm place — not panic.

Because growth isn’t about adding more.

It’s about clearing space so what matters can actually breathe.

At Dishoom in King’s Cross 2 weeks ago, I said something to my closest friend I’ve never said out loud.

Even I was shocked.

I told her I’d started therapy to navigate balance in this current phase of life —
 moving half way across the world, motherhood, marriage, entrepreneurship, everything shifting at once. 

She rolled her eyes and said,
 “You’re the last person I’d expect to say that. You literally own your time.”

It threw me off — because she’s right, but I forget that sometimes.

It also made me realise how unemployable I’ve become.

 Someone recently asked for my resume for an event and I froze.
 I haven’t edited it in over ten years.

Entrepreneurs become a certain type —
 resilient, stubborn, practical, and not built for standard paths.

Sometimes you need someone who’s known you forever to reflect how far you’ve come.

It’s also why I coach the way I do — from lived experience, not theory.

You can't teach something if you haven't walked the path yourself.

My son’s playground fight taught me more about product ideas than any book ever has.

My son came home upset last week because one of his closest friends hit him. No reason. No warning. Just kids being kids.

He said something that stuck with me: “Mumma… you can like someone and they can still hurt you.”

And honestly, that applies to business more than we admit.

You can love your idea.
You can visualise the brand.
You can imagine the packaging.
You can be proud of it.

Something odd happened at Tate Modern last week.
I went in expecting to see art.
I walked out thinking about product ideas.

We took my cousins there during their visit to London.
 
I’ve seen those collections and been to Tate so many times, but this time I paid attention to something different.

Every artist was responding to the moment they were living in.
 
What they saw.

What they felt.
 
What was happening around them.

And it struck me how similar this is to building a consumer brand.

So many founders create from the world in their head, not the world outside their door.

I’ve wasted months doing that — building things that made sense to me but meant nothing to the customer.
 
But ideas that sell always match the moment.

They solve something people feel right now.

Not something they might feel “one day.”

That’s what I kept thinking as I walked through the museum.
 
These artists weren’t waiting for a perfect idea.

They were paying attention to their time.

It’s the same for products.
 
If you pay attention to what’s happening around you, the idea usually shows up on its own.

People underestimate small businesses far too much.
I used to think small meant fragile, until I realised my most profitable brand was also my smallest.

I saw that clearly at the Primrose Hill Christmas festival last weekend.
And it honestly made me smile.

We went there with our son, and the whole place was filled with small stalls — most run by women and young folks.

Dog treats, ceramics, jewellery, body care, small-batch food.

Simple, thoughtful products.

But what stood out wasn’t the craft.

It was how clear each founder was about who they served.
 
No fluff.
 
Just one real problem and one product that solved it well.

There’s still this old belief that small businesses don’t earn well.

But when you actually talk to these founders, you realise how wrong that is.
 
They run lean.
 
They know their numbers.
 
And they rely on real customers — not trends or noise.

There’s also something special about a customer meeting a founder face-to-face.
 
Holding a product.
 
Asking a simple question.

Making a decision then and there.

No algorithm can replace that. AI certainly won't!

It’s funny what you see when you actually slow down.
That’s what happened to me on Friday morning.
And it changed the way I looked at everyday business problems.

I was just out for a simple walk — nothing planned.

Shops opening.

Families doing errands.

People getting to work.

People picking up small things they needed for the weekend.

And everywhere I looked, I saw small problems being solved.

A bakery solves the “I need something quick to eat” problem.

A corner shop solves the “I forgot this one thing” problem.

A café solves the “I need a break” problem.

Business is really that simple.

But I’ve complicated it before — layered on things I didn’t need, just to feel like I was “doing more.” It never helped.

Most early founders chase “big ideas.”

But the ideas with the most traction usually come from everyday moments.

The tiny frustrations people have over and over again.

That’s often where the opportunity is hiding.

Right in front of you.

My Sunday night check-ins used to make me uncomfortable.
I’ll admit that.
But now they’ve become one of the most helpful things I do.

I used to avoid these check-ins because I didn’t want to look at the weeks where almost nothing moved. It felt like failure.

It’s a quiet moment after my son sleeps.

I sit for a few minutes and ask myself one simple question:
 
“What actually moved this week?”

Some weeks it’s something small.

Some weeks it’s just clarity.
 
Some weeks it’s a real step forward.
 
Some week's it's just happiness I made it through! 

But the check-in keeps me honest with myself.

A lot of founders skip this part.

Not because they don’t want to reflect, but because they don’t want to face the things that didn’t move.

But a small weekly moment of honesty can change the whole direction of a business.

It isn’t about perfection.
 
It’s about noticing what’s real and making the next small adjustment.

If I’m being completely honest, I got Auraz™ wrong for a long time.
When I started, I treated “everyone” like my customer.
It felt safer to be broad than risk choosing wrong.

I played it safe.

 Safe colours.
 Safe designs.
 Safe messaging.
 Safe positioning.

Not because it was strategy — because I was scared.

 Scared of narrowing down.
 Scared of getting it wrong.
 Scared of speaking to one woman and ignoring the rest.

Talking to everyone wasn’t strategy.
 It was avoidance.

And the truth is, I assumed I understood my customer.

 I didn’t.

 That arrogance cost me — in money, time, direction.

Meanwhile, women were evolving.

 I was evolving.
 Quietly.
 Growing into ourselves.

 Becoming clearer about what we want and what we won’t tolerate.

Auraz didn’t reflect that in the early days because I wasn’t fully formed yet.

Your brand can’t be clearer than you are.

 And everyone is not your customer.

Auraz is changing now because I am.

And because the women I’m speaking to aren’t interested in safe anymore.

I learn alot in the decade of building this ....and I want to share it with you so you don't waste 10 years!

After moving to London, I realised how important it is to have people who tell you the truth without softening it.

The women I’ve met here are all in different life stages —
 work, kids, relationships, transitions —
 but everyone is trying to grow into themselves.

It made me realise why I believe everyone should try starting something of their own —
 even if it’s small, even if it’s slow, even if it’s next to a job.

Entrepreneurship isn’t just about flexibility.

 It’s about identity.

 About using your time the way you want.

 About not needing permission.

But mostly it's also about experimenting and learning.
 
It took me years to realise I’d been building my life around work.

 It should have been the other way around.

The real freedom isn’t money.
 It’s time — and control over it.

You don’t need to quit anything to start.

You just need one idea and a quiet test.

In my early years, I was obsessed with making things impressive. Perfect. Brand-worthy. 

I tried to look “legit.” 

I assumed customers wanted beautiful catalogues and polished concepts.

But the more I watched how people live—in India, in Europe, here—the clearer it became: people don’t buy impressive. 

They buy relief.

Something that fixes one small, annoying, everyday problem.

Someone on LinkedIn messaged me last week, “I want to start something but everything feels expensive and scary .”
