Nobody sounds like AI anymore.
Now we all sound like assholes instead.

Because apparently the new LinkedIn sport is “spot the  AI copy”:

“That’s an em dash. AI.”
“That’s a listicle. AI.”
“That sentence flowed too well. AI.”

Bro…

Sometimes a good writer is just a good writer.

You’re not morally superior because you didn’t use ChatGPT.

It doesn’t make you Stephen King.
It doesn’t even make you Budget King.

Here’s what actually matters in writing:

Make people feel something.
Make them think something.
Make them do something.

(Yeah I just used the rule of three, suck it.)

Good writing isn’t “human” or “AI.”

Good writing is whatever lands.

Judge the post by the impact.

Not by whether it includes an em dash.

OK?

Posting on LinkedIn is already hard as it is. 

So what if Tom used a little tool? 

Don't pick on Tom. 

Anyway…

I’m about to use an em dash AND a listicle in my next post.

I supply words to the rich and busy. Part Owner of the “MEME team” and responsible for bringing fun back to LinkedIn, one meme at a time.

"I love you but..."
(This is sentence #1)

"I love you but I'm married"
(This is sentence #2)

Whenever i get hit on in the DMs I use sentence #2 as my reply.

It instantly ends the conversation.

Now imagine if I replied with the first sentence instead...

The person on the other end would start thinking:

He loves me but maybe he's gay
He loves me but maybe he's not gay
He loves me but maybe he's unsure
He loves me but may he's into rabbits more...

Basically sentence #1 will give them 500 times more incentive to try and FIND more information.

Sentence 2 will simply end the conversation...

The same applies to your hooks On LinkedIn.

Don't write a hook that ends the conversation.

Write a hook that wants them to read MORE.

For example:

None of this was in the contract, but I did it anyway:

1) Find them a boyfriend. (It didn't work)
2) Fire people on their behalf.
3) Counsel them through a divorce.
4) Help them move money overseas (50k)
5) Pick their outfit for a keynote (yes, seriously)
6) Plan their wedding.

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve done for a client…

or had a client ask you to do?

I need to know I’m not alone 😅

Did I do the right thing or should I have stuck by the agreement only? 

(No wrong answers, I'm genuinely curious)

Rookie Storytelling on LinkedIn: 

1. My partner cheated and I learnt about the attention economy
2. I used to be broke now I'm rich. (Buy my course to learn how)
3. I burned dinner and understood the value of multitasking.
4. I got lost hiking and discovered my career path.
5. My dog died and taught me writing. 

These stories might get you reactions. 
But they won't get you sales. 

Instead,

Expert Storytelling on LinkedIn: 

1. Your origin story (whotf are you and why are you here?) 
2. Your transformation story (How did you become good?) 
3. Your reflective story (What did you learn?) 
4. Your purpose story (Why are you doing this?) 
5. Your client story (How did you help someone else?) 

You can tell these using Ash's 6P framework. 

Protagonist: Who is this story about?
Present: Where does this story start? 
Problem: What was the challenge they faced?
Pit: What was the lowest point for them?
Progress: How did they get out of the pit?
Power: How did they regain their power? 

(Save this for whenever you decide to actually do it)

Whether you are looking for a job or looking for a client. 

These 5 stories will help you establish authority.

When you ask someone “Where are you from?” 

What they hear is: “You don’t look like you belong”. 

This makes immigrants feel out of place. 
(Even if you have the best of intentions). 

So instead of: 
“Where are you from?” 
Ask: 
“Where did you grow up?” 

One questions belonging. 
The other shows curiosity. 

Instead of: 
“Your English is so good!” 
Say: 
“You explain things very clearly” 

One implies surprise. 
The other shows respect.

President Obama once froze on stage. 

I know because I asked his speechwriter Terry Szuplat. 

This is what happened: 

Young Obama had delivered speeches before. 

So for his next speech, he thought “no big deal”. 
He didn’t prepare, didn’t practice. 

But this time - he was speaking to a bigger audience. 
Higher stakes. 

Midway through, he lost his train of thought. 

And froze. 

It wasn’t nerves. 
It wasn’t fear. 

It was overconfidence. 

Here’s the real lesson: 

When the stakes are high, you feel out of your depth. 

Just “confidence” won’t save you. 
Preparation will.

I’m a brown woman with purple hair.

This is how I lead rooms of white male leaders.

You don’t need to “fit in” to belong.
You need to make your presence felt.

Do this to speak with power in any room:

1. Connect first, inform later.
Take time to connect with the audience.
Share why you matter first, deliver content later.

2. Enunciate like a pro.
Articulate every word clearly.
You’re signaling: “this is worth hearing”.

3. Lead with the headline first.
Don’t bury the lede with too much context.
Stating the point first gets quicker buy-in.

(save this post so you can revisit these points)

4. Never ramble or over-explain.
When you're done with a point, pause.
Let them ask questions to know more.

5. Watch out for weak words.
Drop “Does that make sense?”
Psychologically, they lower your authority.

When you present,
You’re not there to “deliver slides”.
You’re there to create an experience.

When you make your presence felt,
They never forget you.

Stop saying these 5 things to yourself in 2026.

(You’re destroying your confidence)

“I don’t want to brag” → “I’m proud of what I’ve done”
“I made a mistake, I’m dumb” → “I’ll learn from this”
“I don’t know how to sell” → “I know how to help”
“I can’t do this” → “I can experiment with this”
“I’m going to fail” → “I’m going to try this”

We are all stories that we tell ourselves.

If your story doesn’t serve you, change it.

When you change the way you speak to yourself:
You change the way you speak to the world.

If people lose respect for you,

it’s almost impossible to gain it back.

Check if you’re doing any of these things
(they damage your reputation):

1. Making everything about yourself.

This is a huge turn off.
It shows people you don’t care as much about them.

→ Make people feel seen by including them.

2. Being rude to waiters, assistants, staff.

No-brainer, but when you’re in a bad mood -
Taking it out on others shows you’re inconsiderate.

→ “Please” and “thank you” go a long, long way.

3. Complaining about your life.

I’ve been guilty of this.
But it shows people you’re a negative person.

→ Add one positive thing for every complain.

When you build a strong, reliable reputation,
You’re future-proofing your business and career.

PS which one have you seen people do the most?

Your ideal clients don’t know your true worth. 

(That gap is costing you revenue). 

You’re already great at what you do. 
But opportunities don’t reflect that. 

You’re chasing leads. 
Your best clients hesitate. 
Your work isn’t recognized. 

That’s not an expertise problem. 

It’s a communication problem. 

When you speak about your work, you lack impact.

Confident leaders freeze when speaking on camera.

(3 reasons why based on 7 years of coaching):

1. You give yourself too much stress to be perfect.

"I can’t mess up in front of people”.

So you let that stress block you in the moment.

2. Your on-camera energy is lower vs in-person.

You cannot see or react to your audience.

So you sound robotic, scripted and frozen.

3. You’re scared of how recording is so “permanent”.

People might “judge you” based on your video.

So you stop yourself from pressing “record” at all.

Why smart people sound less confident than they are:

(We fixed this for my Google client, she got promoted)

This is how we did it:

M was a non-native English speaker.

She felt nervous every time she did a presentation:

→ She would memorize a script.
→ She felt extreme lack of confidence.
→ She spoke too fast and stumbled over words.

BUT she knew she had to be visible to get promoted.

So we started working together.

2.5 months in, M:

→ Stopped relying on memorizing scripts.
→ Spoke to an audience of 500+ at Google.
→ GOT PROMOTED.

When you speak well, you don’t just get applause.

You get the credit you deserve for your work.

But more importantly:

Speaking well gives you a new type of confidence.

One that no one can take away from you.

P.S. On a scale of 1-10, how nervous do you feel before a big talk?

A “fake” smile destroys trust.

I’ll show you how to spot a real vs fake smile:

You see two smiles in the picture.

One is genuine.
One is fake.

Can you tell which one’s real?

Here’s the best way to find out:

A fake smile doesn’t reach the eyes.
A real smile includes your eyes smiling too.

When you notice someone’s mouth smiling -
But their eyes don’t - 
There is a disconnect.

That makes your brain uncomfortable.

And an uncomfortable brain doesn’t trust easily.

(This is why you should “smile with your eyes”).

You never know what a “fake smile” is hiding.
Now you know how to spot one.
