Yesterday I celebrated 2 years of running Taylor Scher Consulting, LLC full time. 

What a crazy journey it's been so far. 

I think the funniest thing about starting my own business is that I never intended to do it in the first place. 

When I left my previous job, I just intended to find another full-time/part-time job while maybe handling a few small projects on the side. 

Well, the job market in 2023 was horrible (I don't think it's gotten any better), and I was frantically searching for another position while I only had 2 clients at the time. 

After getting rejected from application to application, more prospects were coming through my pipeline, either finding me through my content on LinkedIn, comments on Reddit, or my site's SEO. 

It eventually got to the point where it just didn't make sense to find another job when I could just keep going down this path. 

And I'm glad I did. These 2 years have allowed me to:

- Connect with marketing teams across the globe 
- Have the freedom to work under my own terms
- Have more free time than I know what to do with
- Build skills that only come with running a business

None of this would've been possible without:

About 50% of my qualified leads are now coming from LLMs.

Want to know what I did to get there?

SEO.

No literally.

Just regular SEO with a dash of outreach.

All I did was:

- Build a full range of industry/service pages (SEO)
- Build out “best of” listicles for industries and services (SEO)
- Get featured on other similar listicles (GEO)

I’m sure posting on LinkedIn played a part, but my main focus has been the above 3.

And that's been enough to see an increase in leads from LLMs.

From what I've seen so far, coverage in other listicles is what seems to carry the most weight. 

Especially if LLMs are already using those listicles as citations.

The more my name appears in those listicles, the more relevant an LLM sees me as for that category.

Not to mention I’ve ALSO gotten leads from those external listicles as well.

I can get down with the strategy/approach of AEO being different, but on a tactical level, 95% of it is the same as SEO.

I find product-specific content (“how to do [use case] using [your product] to be underrated. 

Not only does it still work extremely well for SEO, but it’s a great way to influence how LLMs reference your product. 

In the image below, AI overviews are recommending my client's brand for a search that's more MoFu. 

There isn't any direct transactional intent tied to "how to annotate PDFs in Google Drive." 

But if a tool is needed to complete a task, the LLM will source different products that can complete that task. 

What we want to do is supply LLMs with information on what your product can do. 

This can either be your blog content, documentation pages, or even both.

Think about the top 10 JTBD of your ICP, and create a detailed "how-to" on how they can accomplish that using your product.

If you’re adding FAQs to your product pages, avoid going after broad questions.

Questions like: 

- “What is [your product category]?
- “What is the benefit of [your product category]?
- “What does [your product category] do?

Instead of covering the category, answer questions specific to the product

Take Factors FAQs for example

- “How long does it take to setup conversions in Factors?”
- “Does Factors provide person-level identification?”
- “Does Factors comply with Google’s data and privacy rules?” 

All specific questions users likely have when gauging a product like Factors.

But the secondary benefit is that it influences how LLMs reference your product. 

These FAQs help:

- Answer brand-related questions right on LLMs
- LLMs reference your product when users are looking for specific features

So when people say “just add FAQs,” think about the questions being related to your product, not the product category.

Responsible for overseeing the comprehensive Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategy for UHS, (annual revenues were approximately $15.8 billion for 2024) by managing an internal team of SEO Coordinators, SEO Specialists, and SEO Developers who are dedicated to implementing various SEO services for Acute Care and Behavioral Health websites throughout the United States.

Manager, SEO

* Oversee all 300+ UHS Google My Business listings to ensure that all location information is accurate when users find UHS facilities organically.
* Facilitate the development of Google Data Studio dashboards by reviewing digital dashboards for accuracy, reporting findings to identify search and user-related issues, and providing recommendations for improvements.
* Launched the first SEO project and met departmental goals by supervising and promoting team cohesion, increasing internal ongoing behavioral health websites' SEO campaigns by 103% YOY.
* Lead internal team of SEO Specialists, Copywriters, UX Designers, and Web Developers to execute full-service digital agency-style SEO campaigns while increasing the number of internal organic SEO campaigns for UHS across 3 divisions (Behavioral Health, Acute Care, Independent Physicians Management) by 129% YOY.
* Generated 3.2 million new users organically for behavioral health division websites, an increase of 13% YOY, by monitoring organic search traffic, identifying improvement opportunities, and conducting extensive keyword research. 
* Guided the development and implementation of updated marketing and advertising strategies by introducing more in-depth SEO reporting that showed key data previously undiscovered.
* Direct and coordinate quality assurance efforts for all UHS behavioral health facility websites, including web governance and accessibility.
* Determine staffing needs and maintain optimal staffing levels by creating a recruitment strategy, screening resumes, performing interviews, conducting performance reviews, and promoting employees on my team to retain top talent.

Supervisor, SEO

Built and led the first-ever in-house SEO Team for UHS by successfully migrated all existing SEO work from vendors to internal team, as a cost savings for UHS.

* Grew internal SEO Campaigns by 85% YOY within 12-months through preparing reports from Google Analytics that gave insight into website performance, SEO trends, latest algorithm updates and leveraged the information to develop SEO strategies that maximized improvement opportunities.
* Implemented Search Engine Marketing (SEM) best practices and guided user engagement, achieving a 43% increase in new users and a 40% increase in sessions by partnering with the Internet department team and external experts.
* Promoted SEO performance by customizing SEO campaigns for UHS behavioral health and acute care facilities, including their YouTube accounts.

* Enhanced usability for the end-user and fulfilled website update requests using a variety of Content Management Systems for the 200+ behavioral health facilities across the United States when reviewing online content and editing copy.
* Implemented strategic messaging that promoted mental health services by creating and editing website content for multiple behavioral health facility websites based on direction from the hospital business development directors and the marketing manager.
* Proofread web content for grammatical accuracy and ensured proper formatting and optimization for web consumption.
* Boosted SEO rankings and met organic search KPIs by writing and editing content for SEO, such as Alt, Title, and Description Tags for each page in every behavioral health website redesigned by UHS internal web team.

Main duty is to support digital marketing campaigns and daily publish operations of Unisys.com; a website that supports approximately 23,000 employees, commercial organizations and government agencies throughout the world. 

* Facilitated the maintenance of an external blog environment with 95 bloggers and top Thought Leaders in the IT industry.
* Supported the global digital marketing team by creating infographics, workflows, and PowerPoint presentations for reference.
* Managed and curated global external content via Microsoft SharePoint and WordPress, initiating Search Engine Optimization to improve the company's page rank on major search engines, promoting visibility.
