Really nice to have my brother visiting Dubai for the first time.

With everything going on over the last few days his flight was delayed, but thankfully he managed to get another one early this morning. It was also a good feeling seeing Emirates planes back in the sky today, a sign that things are starting to return to normal.

Personally, I’ve felt safe the whole time and the UAE has done an amazing job. I am Proud to call this place home.

The photo attached is from his first Iftar, with my two nephews. Feeling very lucky to be able to spend this time with family.

The past week in the UAE has certainly been different, to say the least. That said, it’s great to see that it’s largely business as usual and the HR market is still moving and hiring processes don’t seem to be slowing down.

I’m currently partnering with one of the largest and most established companies in the region who are looking to hire an experienced Learning & Development Lead based in Abu Dhabi.

This role will focus on driving the L&D strategy, leading capability development across the organisation, and managing modern LMS platforms and digital learning initiatives.

“Should I change my LinkedIn location to the UAE?”

This a question I always get asked when speaking to candidates outside the region looking to move here. 

So here’s the honest answer:
No. don’t change your location if you’re not actually here.

Instead, here’s what you should do
Clearly outline your relocation plans and timeline in your About section
Add “Open to relocate to UAE” to your profile

Why is this important?
Recruiters filter by location for two very practical reasons:
Speed
Immediate availability

If a company needs someone to start next month, they’ll naturally prioritise candidates who are already in the country.

Now, here’s the reality many people don’t talk about:
Trying to secure a UAE relocation purely by clicking “Apply” on LinkedIn is extremely competitive. That route is overcrowded and in most cases, your application won’t even be seen because location filters screen you out first.

But LinkedIn was never meant to be just a job board.
When used strategically, it becomes a visibility and networking tool and that’s how you tap into the hidden job market.

That’s your real pathway to relocating.

If you’re serious about moving to the UAE, you need a clear strategy not shortcuts.

And definitely not a fake location.

The last few days have felt a little different for everyone here in the UAE.

With the recent tensions, it’s natural that uncertainty has crept into the market. When that happens, sentiment can shift quickly, especially in recruitment. 

We’ve seen things slow slightly, which is to be expected.

That said, it’s encouraging to see that hiring processes are still moving and businesses are continuing to push forward.
