While Apple faff about doing deals with Google to handle what they could not do themselves, they should have been innovating like this to make AI really usable for people to do, well, anything you can imagine.

I dislike Apple but I really though they would pull it out of the bag - hats off to my buddy Aragorn Meulendijks who called it perfectly.

Let's see if they can catch up, but regardless, I think this shows that personalised AI right down to the app level is going to be the norm across the board very quickly.

🤯 This is absolutely insane! A guy just cured his dog’s cancer using ChatGPT for $3,000.

A tech guy in Australia adopted a rescue dog called Rosie who had aggressive cancer and only months to live.

Most people would have accepted the diagnosis.

He didn’t.

So he paid about $3,000 to sequence the DNA of Rosie’s tumour. Then he started feeding the data into AI tools like ChatGPT and AlphaFold.

He had zero background in biology.

But with the help of AI he was able to:

• Identify the mutated proteins driving the cancer
• Match them with known drug targets
• Design a custom mRNA cancer vaccine specifically for his dog

When a genomics professor reviewed what he’d done, he said he was basically gobsmacked that someone outside the field had managed to do it.

The biggest delay wasn’t the science.

It was the paperwork.

Getting ethical approval to administer the vaccine took longer than designing it.

Eventually it was approved. The guy drove 10 hours to get Rosie her first injection.

The tumour shrank by half.
Her coat started shining again.
She’s alive and happy.

The professor’s response was simple:

“If we can do this for a dog, why aren’t we doing this for humans?”

One motivated person with some AI tools just did something that would normally take huge pharmaceutical teams with massive budgets a year and did it in months.

This won’t be a one-off. This is only the beginning. 

We’re going to cure a lot of diseases ans we’re going to see a lot more examples like this across multiple industries.

Most people don’t realise how good things are going to get, and how fast.

Jack Dorsey's company, Block, just fired 40% of its workforce and the share price spiked 23%. I'm sorry to tell you, but this is not a once-off. This is the start of something big. 

2026 will be the beginning of the mass layoffs because of AI. As he says, most companies are going to do the same. And no, these jobs are not coming back. 

I always try to be really positive in my writing about AI because it seems to really upset people when I talk about the possibility of jobs being lost, but I think we've turned that corner unfortunately. 

Yes, in the past we had job layoffs that may have mentioned AI, but they were an excuse for over-bloated companies to cut heads. But with the advancements we've seen in the tech in the last couple of months alone, boards are figuring out what the future is going to look like. 

Elon started it all slashing 80% of Twitter and still keeping the lights on. Many other companies are realising they can do this too. And they're foaming at the mouth of being able to cut costs and improve margins by utilising the AI tools that are going to start emerging in the next few months. 

How many people's jobs are just pushing numbers around, collating data, preparing reports and PowerPoint decks? I think we've seen over the last while that a lot of this is going to be able to be done in minutes, not days. 

I've been playing around with some tools recently. I've built interactive dashboards in a couple of minutes from one single data source. And I've turned a boring report into an interactive dashboard, animated presentation, in literally a couple of prompts. 

What we've seen from OpenClaw being able to actually go off and do meaningful work on its own, sometimes producing results you didn't even ask for, these tools will be released by most of the major LLM providers. OpenAI is even talking about a $20,000 a month plan, which will be better than a PhD research student. 

But Colin, all technology produces new jobs and so the market grows. It's always done that. I'm sorry to tell you, but technology has always produced tools that need humans to operate them. AI does not. It's the only thing that can genuinely do meaningful work on its own. And what jobs do you think AI is going to create that it cannot do itself? 

I've been very worried about this for many years and secretly hoping I would be wrong, but I think we're about to see the complete apocalypse happen very, very soon. The markets will be disrupted. Getting a job will be near impossible. I'm really not looking forward to it.

It studies your entire posting history and breaks down how you write, your hooks, your tone, your structure, what patterns show up in your best posts, and gives you specific tips on how to improve.

Most people post on LinkedIn with no idea what's actually working. This tells you exactly what's working and why.

How does it work? It's a simple Chrome extension. You go to your profile post activity tab, click the button, and it automatically scrolls through your posts and extracts the data from the page. That's it. Takes a couple of minutes and you've got everything. You can also download that data as a CSV or JSON. 

And no, there's no security risk - all it does is read your own public posts. It doesn't touch your password, messages, or anything else. Full code is in the GitHub.

This was my first time using Claude Code and I'm genuinely blown away. A few months ago this would have cost thousands to build. I did it in a weekend with zero technical skills. If that doesn't tell you where things are heading, I don't know what does.

You'd swear these people have spent the last six weeks in the Gaza Strip in bunkers under heavy fire. 

Please stop falling for the alarmist media coverage. It's bullshit. 

Life is going on fine here in the UAE.  The UAE is doing an incredible job of defending the country from attacks. And so far, the damage has been very minimal. 

Ignore the footage you see of people in car parks on mattresses. Most people are out and about, going on with their day. I had a walk on the beach yesterday, still plenty of people around. 

I was with my son at his jiu-jitsu class, and two emergency warnings went off on our phones. No one left. We all just continued on. 

Some people are clearly very shaken by all of this and reacting quite emotionally, convinced their lives are under immediate threat. From what I’ve seen on the ground here though, that really isn’t the general mood.

Personally, I haven’t been overly concerned. I’ve actually had work issues recently that have caused me far more stress. The joys of the startup world.

As of this morning there’s also some slightly more encouraging news, with Iran saying they won’t attack anyone else unless they are attacked first.

So hopefully things start cooling down from here. Don't worry about Dubai, we're doing fine, and we'll bounce back fast as we always do.

Humanoid robots are going to become the biggest product the world has ever seen. Which also means it will likely become the most competitive market in history.

Right now there are maybe half a dozen serious players. Within a few years there will probably be hundreds. Every major electronics, manufacturing, and battery company will build one.

The reason is simple: demand will be enormous.

Why? Because of what it will do for you: Imagine: housework disappears. Cleaning kitchens, doing laundry, tidying the house, gardening. Entire categories of daily chores simply vanish.

But it goes much further than that. Your robot could be a gardener, handyman, nanny, driver, personal trainer, teacher, or security guard. One machine capable of performing thousands of different tasks.

The first versions are rumoured to cost around $30,000. If financed over five years, that works out at roughly $500 a month. Even if it ends up closer to $1,000 a month, it’s still half the price of full time at home help.

Chinese companies are already selling humanoid robots for around $16,000 today. They mostly just dance, but that’s largely a software problem. Once the software improves, those machines will suddenly become useful.

Labour for less than $1 an hour. Think about what that does for busineses

I’ve seen people in the comments say things like, “Look, it didn’t wipe the table properly,” or “It nearly knocked over the vase.”

That’s why I’ve always thought of AI as a mindset.

Some people look at these robots and only see what they can’t do today. Others look at the trajectory, the pace of improvement, and what they’ll clearly be able to do tomorrow.

Once these systems hit the inflection point, things will accelerate extremely quickly. They will go from being mildly helpful around the house to being capable of performing most human tasks far faster than people expect.

The main technical challenge right now is 'world models' - systems that allow AI to understand the physical environment around it and act within it reliably. That is the problem researchers everywhere are racing to solve.

My view is that this will be solved much faster than people expect. With AI we experience constant step/cliff changes with massive sudden advancements we thought would take years.

And once it is, the rest will move very quickly.

My guess: we’re about two years away from solving this problem, and perhaps two to three years away from the first real humanoid robots starting to appear in people’s homes.

BYD just unveiled its next generation Blade battery with FLASH Charging using their ultra-high-power 1.5 MW stations:

10% to 70% in 5 minutes

10% to 97% in 9 minutes

10% to 97% in 12 minutes (−30°C extreme cold)

This is insanely fast. They can also get up to 1000 kilometres per charge, meaning you'll spend less time charging than you will filling up your car with petrol. 

The electric car drawbacks are few and far between these days. All that's needed is a little bit more charging infrastructure in remote areas, which is not that difficult to do, and I think will grow with the supply of cars 

Where are our Tesla at with all of this? We haven't seen any new battery technology from them in quite some time. 

They need to be careful or the Chinese are going to completely take over.

Let's talk about AGI. Usually I try to avoid it because it tends to unsettle people, but things have taken a turn and we are rapidly accellerating towards the unknown..

The definitions aren’t even agreed, but roughly, AGI is when a system can do most cognitive jobs about as well as the average competent person in that field, as long as the work can be done on a computer. 

ASI is when it’s smarter than all of us combined. And if AGI lands, ASI probably doesn’t take long after.

Timelines are guesswork. Max 10, but some say it could be two years away. Sam Altman just said that he thinks it's coming sooner than he ever thought before. 

But here’s what matters. We don’t need full AGI for massive disruption.

Look at what’s already happening. Coding, research, design, customer support, legal drafting. Agents don’t prompt occasionally like humans. They run continuously. They consume tokens all day. The acceleration in just the last few months has been dramatic. This is the new pace.

Society isn’t prepared.

Imagine if tomorrow we received a verified message from extraterrestrial intelligence saying they’d arrive in five years, the world would panic. Markets would crash, governments would mobilize, religions would fracture.

Yet we may be only a few years away from building something functionally similar - a non-human intelligence far more capable than us - and most people are barely aware

The impact won’t be linear.

AI-native companies will dismantle incumbents. Entire job categories will disappear. Policy wont be able to keep up with the disruption so we’ll see unrest. 

We’re already living through extreme income inequality. Apparently in the US it's as bad as it was at the time of the French Revolution. Add exponential automation and things get volatile quickly.

At the same time, I think society will split.

Some people will really push back against AI, while others will think that systems that can process a lot of information and make decisions without bias or corruption might actually be better than humans. 

The idea of AI politicians or AI governance sounds absurd today. It may not for long. AI can talk to everyone, make sure they understand, and they are not taking bribes or being corrupt. (Yet). 

The real tension is power.

AI could create abundance - solve disease, optimize energy, personalize education, remove huge inefficiencies from the system. Or it could concentrate control in the hands of a few actors with unprecedented leverage over the rest of us.

AI will amplify whatever incentives we build around it.

The next decade is unlikely to be calm. Industries will be reshaped. Identities will shift. Politics will strain. There will be shocks.

I do believe we can get a world full of abundance, but it might be some years of extreme turbulence before that happens.
