Scaling Amazon & Shopify Brands to 7-Figures Profitably with Customer First Marketing Strategies on Google, META, YouTube & CTV

I’ve spent 25 years scaling ecommerce brands

TBH, most of the advice out there is NOT so true.

(New campaign structures every week, secret audience hacks, changing bids because yesterday felt expensive.)

In reality, it mostly just boils down to this:

Fix the fundamentals before you scale spend.

A bit of an oversimplification, yes (but this is what makes an impact when you’re spending money on Meta + Google + Amazon).

Note: This doesn’t just apply to 7-figure brands.

The same principle works if you’re doing $50k/mo, $500k/mo, or you’re just trying to stop your funnel from leaking every time you turn the budget up.

Also… Meta’s Andromeda update is a good reminder here: the platform is getting better at picking which ads even get a shot, so sloppy inputs get punished faster.

A few ways to actually make this works on META:

1. Design for signals before you add spend

Meta can’t optimize what you haven’t clearly defined. Clean conversion events, clear audience intent, and proper prospecting vs retargeting separation come before budget increases.

2. Separate delivery jobs inside the account
 
Prospecting is for visibility and demand creation. Retargeting is for efficiency and conversion lift. When everything is asked to do everything, nothing performs well.

3. Fix the biggest constraint first

Low-quality traffic, weak creative, poor offers, broken tracking. Pick the one thing that’s holding delivery back and solve that before touching bids or structure.

4. Reduce noise until the system can learn
 
Meta’s Andromeda update rewards consistency. Fewer changes, clearer inputs, and disciplined testing beat constant tweaks every time.

That’s it.

Make a habit of winning on fundamentals early, and scaling stops feeling like gambling.

Since Meta rolled out the Andromeda update, one thing is clear:

Winning on Meta now has less to do with tricks, and more to do with fundamentals.

Andromeda improved Meta’s retrieval layer )the stage where ads are filtered before ranking even begins).

Meta has reported:

- +6% recall improvement
- +8% ad quality improvement
(across selected segments)

Translation:
 
If your ad isn’t a strong retrieval candidate, it never gets a fair shot no matter how good your analysis sounds after the fact.

So when performance swings and the instinct is to blame ROAS, bids, or the algorithm, pause and check the fundamentals first.

Here’s what I look at:

1. Signal gap
Are MER, CAC, and ROAS aligned with your attribution windows?
Compare 1-day click vs view-through before touching budgets.

2. Margin gap
Did your contribution margins change?
COGS, fees, shipping, refunds, payback periods… economics always surface eventually.

3. Creative gap
Do you actually have concept families…  new hooks, mechanisms, and proof… or just variations? And are you protecting and scaling the 80/20 SKUs?

4. Funnel gap

Did the leak move?
Speed, message match, PDP clarity.

This is where Root Cause Mapping, the Simplicity Razor, and the 5×5 rule matter.

Your brain is great at rewriting performance history to make last week’s outcome feel obvious.

The reality is simpler:

Andromeda rewards clean signals, tight economics, creative systems, and simple funnels.

That’s not a flaw in the platform.
That’s the design.

Meta’s Andromeda update upgraded the part of the system that decides which ads even get a real shot (before the final ranking picks winners).

That’s it.

A lot of advertisers predicted this would mean new hacks.

But it’s actually the opposite:

The brands winning aren’t doing crazy tactics. They’re doing the small, boring things that make the algorithm confident.

(Clear hooks in the first seconds, clean purchase signals, offer clarity.)
 
Fast pages.
Fresh angles that aren’t just resizes.

These micro-signals shape everything:

- Who gets the delivery.
- Who gets more cost effective reach.
- Who gets stable conversion costs.
- Who gets punished when ad spend goes up.

It makes me giggle that most founders are terrible predictors of what will actually improve performance.

They overestimate the impact of tiny targeting tweaks and underestimate how much signal quality + creative variety + page simplicity move the needle.

If you want Meta to scale in 2026, start stacking micro-signals:

1. Strong inputs
2. Concept families (promise / mechanism / proof)
3. CAPI 
4. Simple PDPs that answer what / who / why / what next fast

“Are we an Amazon brand or a Shopify brand?”

You’ll obsess over which dashboard looks better this week, which ROAS screenshot wins, which agency sounds more confident.

But the real unlock is seeing the system underneath the screenshots.

The moment you realise:

- Amazon is there to capture high-intent marketplace demand.
- Shopify is there to compound margin, AOV and LTV.
- Your P&L doesn’t care which logo the revenue came from.
