D.E.W Consulting is an economic consulting company that helps companies monetize the unquantifiable. It does not function as a traditional consulting firm that operates year round; rather it pulls from a group of highly qualified economists to form specialized teams when projects come along that match the groups purpose, goals and skill sets. 

Notable Projects:

• Worked with the Government of Alberta's Ministry of Employment & Immigration to quantify a programs social return on investment. 

• Worked with the Ontario Centre of Excellence (OCE) to help identify, evaluate and assess its ROI and its perceived societal impact.

The State of Sustainability Initiatives (SSI) (IISD)

The SSI is the world’s most reliable source for global certified data, accounting for $31.6 billion dollars worth of sustainable trade value. The SSI reports on the characteristics, performance and market trends of the most prevalent sustainability initiatives (Rainforest Alliance, Fairtrade, Organic, etc.)  

I wear three hats for the SSI team. My economist hat, my content strategist hat and my communications hat: 

• As an economist, I collect, clean, understand and glean insights from global certified data sets. 

• As a content strategist, I create content, based on our insights, to tell stories regarding the global     state of sustainability initiatives. 

• As a communicator, I disseminate our content via Twitter (@SSI_News) and Facebook (State of Sustainability Initiative).  

Our greatest success as a team was convincing the International Trade Centre (ITC) and 16 leading international sustainability initiatives to voluntarily align and supply their market and performance data on an ongoing basis so that they could become a global reference point for sustainable aggregate market data.

International Institute of Sustainable Development (IISD)

IISD is a non-partisan organization that specializes in policy research, analysis and information exchange to further global goals for sustainable development regionally, nationally and internationally. 

My role:

• Worked on the climate and energy team, the trade and investment team, and the natural & social capital team aggregating and analyzing global data sets. 

• Focused primarily on cost benefit analysis for investment decisions

• Travelled and presented my research regionally, nationally and internationally.

Canadian Building Energy End-Use Database and Analysis Centre

The Canadian Building Energy End-use Data and Analysis Centre (CBEEDAC) is a research centre responsible for improving knowledge and accessibility of building energy data for the Canadian residential, commercial, and institutional sectors.

My role: 

• Recruited to develop a new promotional strategy focused on brining in additional research funding.

Fundraiser

Alberta Utilities Commission

The AUC regulates the utilities sector, natural gas and electricity markets to protect social, economic and environmental interests of Alberta where competitive market forces do not. 

My role:

• Helped develop the rules and processes governing a new Micro-Generation Regulation that allowed Albertans to generate their own environmentally friendly electricity and receive credit for any power they sent back into the grid.

Regulatory Policy Analyst

Centre for Applied Business Research in Energy and the Environment (CAMBREE)

Background: CABREE is an independent and non-partisan research centre in the University of Alberta’s Alberta School of Business. CAMBREE's mandate is to perform economic and business analysis to inform public policy debates on issues of vital importance to Alberta and to Canada as a whole. 

•  Collected information on energy markets, electricity restructuring and climate change issues.
