Hey there, I’m Sean. I play at the intersection of investing, media and human performance.

I’m a three-time INC 500 founder & entrepreneur with businesses in eCommerce, SaaS, media and B2B services that have collectively generated hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue.

Right now, I serve as a General Partner at The Family Fund and am the CEO of Significant Publications, a B2B digital media holding company.

I'm particularly passionate about our brand FounderIV in support of today's founder-athletes. We help today's top entrepreneurs achieve breakout performance in their personal and professional lives.

I co-founded and led multiple other companies, including SnackNation, a health-centric foodservice and brand discovery platform that served 20,000 businesses across the US.

Outside of the business world, I’m a two-time national medalist in freestyle snowboarding, hold an advisory role at the growth capital firm, Meaningful Partners, have a degree in Biomedical Engineering from Columbia University and am an avid sports fan of all Michigan sports teams (especially the Wolverines).

I currently live in Venice, CA with my wife and college sweetheart, Shannon, and our goldendoodle, Jameson.

We built the first Founderland in 10 weeks.

And almost died.

This past year we gave ourselves 6 months and built an external team to do it and it still wasn’t enough time.

So for next year’s event we decided to make the build a year-round affair…

And are focused on making Founderland a brand that lives throughout the year, not just as once-every-October event.

It’s funny to see how random ideas become full-time jobs lol

Took a quick trip to NYC this week to discuss Founderland ‘26 with one of our top partners J.P. Morgan  

The verdict?

It’s going to be big. 

Perhaps not as big as JPM’s new $3B global HQ at 270 Park Ave (most spectacular office I’ve been in w/ a Warhol or Jasper Johns around every corner)…

But still pretty big and lots of fun with a yuge amount of deals commenced (misspelling intentional)

Current health travel stack:

Zoomed off to NYC, Philly and Austin this week.

Back to back meetings all day, late dinners and sports games at night, and planes trains and automobiles like we all know.

Seems like 1/2 of the people I’ve met have a cold.

Here’s what I take on the road to feel good while away…

and do my best to arrive home feeling not-dead to the fam. Works most of the time ;)

 - Sinus rinse bottle filled with filtered water, betadine and salt/baking soda (use after every flight, likely illness prevention tactic #1)

- Zinc acetate lozenges if I’m feeling worn down or fatigued

- KetoneIQ every morning when I wake up to get that cognitive boost

- Momentous whey protein, plant protein, and creatine (10g) + Supergut fiber blended 1-2x per day to supplement diet

- Momentous Sleep pack + medical mouth tape + sleep mask every night

- Metal shaker bottle that doesn’t get gross

- Some type of hydration packets 2x/day minimum (right now using Dry Water)

- WIP 100mg energy pouches for a little boost early in the day usually before workout

- Another ~20 or so supplements in my vitamin case that I pre-fill for each day prior to the week

Sure, sleep/nutrition/exercise are essential and the most  important…but it’s near impossible to not sacrifice them a bit while playing the part of road warrior…so at least for me, travel supplementation is key.

If you want to make money, go niche.

Earlier this week I went to a Teachable creator event, and what I saw was wild.

It reminded me just how much power there is in niches.

A few examples:

1. A guy had built a dog-training community so specific that his content was tailored to individual dog breeds. The more specific the breed, the higher the conversions. A whole operation built on hyper-niche dog behaviour.

2. A woman teaching Excel had quietly amassed 30,000 students on Teachable alone!!

3. A ton of language communities with people building MASSIVE communities around helping people learn languages.

Where there is passion, there is community.
Where there is community, there is a business.

I’ve believed for a long time that this is the future of marketing.

Seeing it up close made me even more certain.

Smart move by Teachable to lean into what I think is the next era of online business.

I learned this the hard way.

When I started FanBytes at 21, practically everyone around me doubted me.

"Influencer marketing? That's not a real business."
"You're too young to run a company."

I have ADHD and OCD.

This cheatcode is how I built an 8-figure business anyway.

4 years ago, ADHD diagnosis. 3 years ago, OCD joined the party.

I call it my "spicy brain."

During Fanbytes (and even now), I'd get excited about everything. Start 10 projects before finishing one.

What made it easier wasn't any productivity hack.

It was being intentional about surrounding myself with people who could cool me down.

I had to be vulnerable and say: "This is what's going on in my brain. I need your support."

Help me not start 10 different things at once.
Help me see things through.
Help me finish projects.

As the CEO, the "big founder," this felt wrong. I was supposed to have it together. But being open about what I needed was the best thing I ever did.

Because the biggest misconception about ADHD and OCD is that you have to handle it alone.

You don't.

I actively sought out people who could:

See things through when I got distracted
Help me actually finish what I started
Ground me when I got too excited

While everyone's trying to fix their ADHD brain solo, I built a support system around mine.

The real cheatcode for neurodivergent founders: Stop pretending you can do it alone. Start asking for the support you need.

Your brain doesn't need fixing. It needs the right people around it.

POV: Your mic cuts out mid-TED Talk in Uganda.

800 people staring at you.

Last week, I was giving this talk about overcoming obstacles (ironic, right?) when the audio just dies. Tech team's scrambling around, giving me the "5 minutes to fix" signal.

Now I've got a choice.

I can either stand there awkwardly while everyone checks their phones, or turn this into a chance to re-energise the room.

"Alright, we've got 5 minutes. Everyone up!"

Next thing, the whole room's on their feet. I love doing this. I love getting everyone to shout and jump.

I also spotted a woman in the back who wanted to pitch her business idea.

By the time my mic comes back, nobody even cares about the technical stuff anymore. We're all just buzzing from what just happened.

Perfect delivery isn't the point of speaking. 

It's about reading the room and working with what you've got.

So, next time something goes wrong, do this:

1️⃣ When something breaks, don't wait for someone else to fix it.

You're responsible for your own life and your own success. Take relentless action to get the best outcome possible.

2️⃣ Don't be afraid to give others the spotlight.

People remember how you made them FEEL. Make them feel like the smartest people in the room.

3️⃣ Your response to failure defines the outcome

In every failure, you have the choice: panic, or pivot. 


The moment when things go wrong can be a massive opportunity to get an even better outcome.

I grew up on Old Kent Road council estate in South London, where most kids had their ambition beaten out of them before they turned 15.

Then I got a bursary to Christ's Hospital School.

Walking onto those grounds for the first time was wild.

Rugby fields bigger than my entire council estate.
Buildings older than my whole neighbourhood.
Kids casually chatting about ski trips.

I remember standing there, and I thought “There's absolutely no way I can be in this place and stay the same person I was yesterday.”

And that was exactly why I chose it.

Not for the education.

But because I needed to completely change my environment if I wanted a different life.

When you're suddenly surrounded by kids whose parents work in boardrooms instead of building sites, your brain starts working differently.
It changes EVERYTHING…

People always ask me how I went from council estate to selling my company for 8-figures.

It wasn't about working harder.
I just refused to stay in the environment that was keeping me small.

Most people try to build something massive while staying exactly where they are, surrounded by the same people who think their dreams are unrealistic.

That's like trying to get fit while living in McDonald's.

If you actually want different results, you need to physically put yourself in different surroundings.

Your environment is either lifting you up or weighing you down.

There's no middle ground.

My English teacher saved my life with 15 words.

I was 13, inches from being stabbed to death.

Picture this: City of London Academy, Southwark. School sits right on the border of three gang territories - Old Kent Road, Peckham, Brixton.

I'd just moved from Ghana to dad's council estate. He's always working, I'm always alone. So I start finding that sense of family with the Old Kent Road crew.

Telling myself this is what brotherhood means. What belonging feels like.

Week before, I'm playing football in the Avondale Square cage. Someone shouts "Peckham boys!"

We scatter.
Run.

One of them catches up to me with a knife and swings it across my abdomen.

The knife misses me by inches.

My mate wasn't so lucky, he got stabbed at McDonald's. A week later he came back to school with this ugly scar all the way up his right side.

Honestly, he was lucky to be alive.

Mad thing is - during the week at school, kids from all three gangs get along.

But on weekends, we were mortal enemies.

Miss Sobaki saw what was happening to me. She pulled me aside one day:
"Timothy, you realise you're a smart guy, right? This bad man stuff, it's not for you."

Those words changed my life.

She changed the way I thought about myself. My whole desire to be a bad man just... started to disappear.

Those 15 words took me from climbing council estate stairwells thinking "I don't belong here" to Forbes 30 under 30. From almost joining a gang about to "ride out" to selling my company for 8 figures.

Teachers don't get paid enough.

Miss Sobaki probably doesn't even remember saying it. She just saw a smart kid heading down the wrong path.

But sometimes that's all you need: one person who sees you differently than you see yourself.

I'll always be grateful to Miss Sobaki.

She helped me tell myself a different story.

I built an 8-figure business.

But before that, I was told 13 times to give up.

This was an email I got in the 1st year of building Fanbytes. He was the 4th person to reject me, and the first person to tell me to give up.

At that point, I had two choices:

1. Walk away.
2. Or double down.

I bet on us.

Six years later, we’d built a team of 80, and generated tens of millions in revenue.

And that “small lifestyle business” grew beyond anything they predicted. 

Now - I exited that same company for multiple 8-figures, I'm an investor, and I wrote a book with all the cheatcodes I wish I knew when I was young.

If that investor had backed us, he would’ve made 54x his money.

But here’s the truth:
Rejection only sticks if you let it.

This is the cheatcode how to turn a “no” into an advantage:

1. Don’t take it personally.
Rejection is information. Use it.

2. Don’t argue.
Prove it. Quiet wins speak louder.

3. Don’t wait for validation.
Back yourself. Make it impossible to miss.

If you’re getting told no right now… keep moving.

Being underestimated is a GIFT.

Go out and use it.

Hot take: Not everyone should have a personal brand.

You don’t need a large following, but you do need to be known for SOMETHING.

Here’s the truth: having 10k followers won't get you promoted, but being the AI expert at your company will.

What so many people get wrong is this…

Personal brand isn't posting on LinkedIn.
It's being the person people call when shit breaks.

Pick one gap at your company and learn it for 30 days until you own it completely.

No followers needed.
No content calendar.
Just competence.

And competence gets you opportunities.

While everyone's building their "brand," someone just learned how to train an AI and got promoted.

Be that person.

It’s not that deep
↳ Most things aren’t worth the overthinking
↳ Take a breath, zoom out, and crack on

Keep making progress
↳ You don’t need to sprint, you just need to keep moving
↳ A little progress beats standing still every time

Make asymmetric bets
↳ Some things don’t cost much but could change EVERYTHING
↳ Place more of those bets. You only need one to land.

These 7 Boring Businesses Make Stupid Money

Dumb founders chase the peak.
Smart ones sell the momentum.

Trying to sell at the very peak is actually the worst strategy. You’re getting tired, growth is plateauing, and your story that could sell the business slowly gets weaker.

Dumb founders = sell at the peak
Smart founders = sell around 70%

Here’s why you should sell around 70%:

→ Revenue is climbing
→ The team is motivated
→ The buyer sees potential

Because when you exit, you’re not selling a business that’s done.

You’re selling the opportunity for someone else to take what you’ve built and grow it even bigger.

They’re asking:

“Is this business still growing?”
“Can we plug this into our own business to make scale it faster?”
“Will this make us more money in less time than building it ourselves?”

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 1: 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗲 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗢𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀
If you tell yourself you're sh*t at sales, you'll be shit at sales. Tell yourself you're unstoppable - watch what happens.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 2: 𝗜𝗻𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝘀 𝗮 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿
You don't know what's "impossible" yet. So you try it anyway. And sometimes it works.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 3: 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗜𝘁 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘆 𝗧𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗻 Stop doing 100 things badly. Do 3 things that actually move the needle. The rest is just busy work.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 4: 𝗗𝗼 𝗜𝘁 𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗱 Just send that cold email. Increase your prices. Do the hard thing. Fear doesn't go away, you just get used to acting despite it.

𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗲 5: 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝘀 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 Find what's working, then copy it. Make it 10% better or different. That's it. Stop trying to reinvent everything.

I used these to build Fanbytes.

Sold it for 8-figures.

While everyone else was still asking if their logo looked professional enough.
