Founders, tell me a time when you found a competitor with the same set of features and product. In 2025, I’m sure you’ll find many.

But do you know what ‘really’ separates your brand from the competition? 

It's experience and design.

- You look for inspiration online to create your wireframes
- You bring up some designs to put your product together

That’s when your product really works till you achieve product market fit with superior growth.

- Your leads quickly making decision to turn into customers
- Your customers appreciating your product with quality reviews online
- Your customers turning into raving fans bringing in more customers

That’s when all the true business KPIs start hitting:

- Your sales increase
- Your engagement increase
- Your churn decrease

But there are too many aspects that always become a priority. But it’s time for you to take action and revamp your brand’s design experience.

I walked into LinkedIn’s Gurugram office expecting algorithm secrets ...
I walked out with something far more useful.

A bit late to share this, but this post was long overdue. I was invited to the LinkedIn Insider Connect meetup — thanks to Ankita Sil and Nakul Ghai, who curated one of the sharpest rooms I’ve been in this year. Here’s the story, and more importantly, the lessons worth keeping.

In the room: Within 10 minutes, I realised everyone was asking the wrong question: “How do I crack the algorithm?”

But the Editorial & India leadership team kept bringing the conversation back to one thing:
LinkedIn doesn’t want you to “crack” anything.
They want you to contribute something.

That single mental shift changes everything.
What I learned — the real stuff, not the surface-level slogans:

1. Insight is the new currency.
Information is cheap.
Opinion is everywhere.
But insight — the stuff you’ve actually lived, tested, broken, fixed — is what LinkedIn wants to amplify.
If you can’t teach, question, simplify, or challenge… the platform has no reason to push your content.

2. Hyperlocal ≠ narrow. Hyperlocal = undeniable.
The team explained why LinkedIn is doubling down on Tier 2/3, regional languages, and context-based content.
 Because precision builds trust.
And trust compounds faster than reach.
Your smallest niche might be your biggest moat.

3. Community is a growth engine that almost nobody optimises for.
Oddly enough, the highest-value conversations weren’t part of the “program.”
They happened between creators during coffee, standing near whiteboards, comparing notes on markets, industries, failures.
Algorithms change.
People stay.
And people are who carry your work further.

4. Consistency is a credibility signal — not a hack.
Everyone wants virality.
But the platform rewards creators who build a body of work, not spikes of luck.
Thought leadership is a long game.
You don’t earn trust with a reel. You earn it with a rhythm.

5. Value looks different to different people.
This one unlocked a lot for me:
A senior founder may want deep frameworks.
A student may want clarity.
A designer may want examples.
A jobseeker may want opportunity.
And all of these are “value.”
Stop judging your posts by your own intellectual ego.
Judge them by the problem they're solving.

My takeaway as a founder & creator:
The future of LinkedIn is not louder content.
It’s clearer content.
And the future of creators is not growth.
It’s expertise, perspective, and community.
That’s what compounds.

I’ve been running Brandhero Design — a fully-remote design studio — for almost 10 years now.

Not because we had to.

I’ve been hiring designers for almost a decade now — and Felix is unfortunately right.
But here’s the part we don’t talk about enough:

The industry didn’t become hostile to juniors overnight. We trained it to be this way.

A short story from Brandhero 👇

A few months ago, I reviewed applications for a junior UI/UX role.
1200+ portfolios.
Only 14 were actually job-ready.
Not perfect — just ready to execute real work without hand-holding.

And here’s the painful irony:
	•	Many had “certificates”, but couldn’t explain a simple flow.
	•	Many had polished Dribbble shots, but couldn’t design a functional dashboard.
	•	Many “wanted opportunities”, but froze when asked to reason through a problem.

But none of this was their fault.

Every single junior I spoke to said some version of this:

“No company hires juniors. I just need someone to guide me.”

They weren’t looking for a job.
They were looking for a mentor — the same thing companies stopped providing years ago.

Meanwhile, founders like me are dealing with the opposite problem:

We desperately want fresh designers who think, reason, and own outcomes…
but almost no one is training them that way.

Bootcamps promise shortcuts.
Companies refuse to invest in coaching.
The gap widens.
Juniors get crushed between both sides.

The truth?
Junior designers aren’t failing.
The system is failing them.

What changed things for us at Brandhero was this mindset:

👉 Hire for attitude, potential, and reasoning.
👉 Train for skills, taste, and business thinking.
👉 Give juniors real responsibility early — with tight feedback loops.
👉 Treat them like future partners, not “cheap labor”.

The results?
One of our best designers today joined as a junior — with zero pedigree — just relentless curiosity and owner-level mindset.

If companies want better designers, we have to build them, not wish for them.

And if you’re a junior designer reading this:
Your job isn’t to learn “Figma tricks”.
It’s to learn how to think.

That’s the real hiring advantage in 2025.

Breaking into design in 2025 isn't hard. It's almost impossible.

Less than 5% of companies are hiring entry-level designers. The rest demand 5+ years for "junior" roles.

Meanwhile, bootcamps graduate thousands more designers every month into a market where they're competing against laid-off senior talent willing to take pay cuts. (We *actually* see this every day at adplist.org.)

The system is broken at both ends:

Design education sells a dream that the job market can't fulfill. Companies refuse to invest in mentorship, then complain about the talent pipeline.

Junior designers aren't failing. We've built a market that's structurally designed to exclude them.

What Zohran Mamdani’s campaign just taught Every Founder, Designer & Marketer about modern branding... Late to the party, but I finally got time to study Zohran Mamdani’s historic NYC campaign.

And honestly?
It might be the most important branding case study of the decade.
Not because it was political — but because it was designed better than 99% of D2C, SaaS, or tech brands today.

Here are the 7 mind-melting lessons everyone can steal:

1. “Listen publicly. Iterate publicly.”
Mamdani didn’t run a campaign.
He ran a visible feedback loop.
When supporters roasted him for overusing the word “ultimately,” he didn’t hide behind PR.
He adapted on camera.
Designers call this rapid iteration.
Politicians never do it.
This one move built more trust than any high-budget ad ever could.

2. Branding is not colour + logo. Branding is belonging.
His visual system wasn’t “New York aesthetic.”
It felt like New York:
Arabic posters by Arabic designers
Borough-specific designs
Salsa-in-the-park visuals
Biryani with cabbies
Tai Chi sessions in Flushing
Not “viral content.”
Cultural participation.
If your brand isn't rooted in the world of your users, you’re designing for applause — not adoption.

3. The most powerful story is your audience’s story.
Most brands talk at customers.
His campaign talked with them.
Not through polished speeches — through micro-stories that felt lived-in and unfiltered.
That is the new UX:
Make people feel seen before you expect them to believe.

4. Small, agile teams beat big budgets — when taste + clarity lead the room.
His budget was a fraction of his competitors.
But the team operated like a startup design agency:
Fast decisions
No bureaucracy
Creator collaborations
Community-led content
Real-time responsiveness
This is why I tell founders:
You don’t need a bigger team. You need a team with better taste + faster feedback cycles.

5. Radical transparency is the new persuasion.
When the campaign hit its fundraising cap, he literally said:
“Stop donating. Redirect your money to neighbors and mutual aid.”
In a world built on mistrust, clarity is currency.
And transparency is the strongest CTA.
Designers: your UX is not complete until the user knows exactly what you need from them — and why.

6. Multilingual communication isn’t “translation.” It’s inclusion.
The campaign didn’t translate English lines into Spanish/Arabic/Urdu.
 It co-created those messages with community members.
That’s not localisation.
That’s shared authorship.
Imagine your product messaging being shaped by your best users — not your boardroom.
That’s where trust comes from.

7. Empathy is powerful. Performed empathy is dangerous.
This whole campaign is a reminder:
Design principles used ethically create hope.
Used manipulatively, they create chaos.
As designers and founders, we don’t just shape buttons.

We shape behaviour, belief, and belonging.
With that power comes a responsibility most people underestimate.

SciRio is now a Private Limited company.

And honestly? I'm still processing what that means.

Five years ago, I made a choice that felt reckless to everyone around me.
I walked away from IISc. From cancer biology. From the PhD track that was supposed to validate everything I'd worked for.

My classmates were heading to prestigious institutions. I was heading into...what, exactly?

All I knew was that I couldn't stay at the bench when what I really wanted was to make people fall in love with science the way I had.

So I started SciRio.
During a pandemic. As a solo founder. With limited funds and unlimited doubt.

I made choices that broke every rule:
- Hired full-time employees before we had retainer clients.
- Pitched to biotech companies when my entire network was academic researchers.
- Built a team of experimenters when we were still figuring out if this could even exist.
- Said no to "just being a marketing agency" because I knew we were building something different.

Every decision came with sleepless nights and imposter syndrome whispering, "You left a prestigious career for this?"

There were at least three moments where I almost shut it all down.
But I didn't.

Because I realized: I don't fit in a defined career role. Not a scientist. Not a science communicator. Not a marketer. But, everything in between.

And that's exactly where SciRio lives. We're science storytellers.

We bridge deep scientific understanding, commercial reality, and narrative craft for companies in healthcare, biotech, and life sciences who are building breakthroughs that require patience and grit.

Today, we're a Private Limited company.
This isn't just a legal checkbox. This is us saying, 'We're ready for what comes next'.

The imposter syndrome? Still here. I still compare myself to founders who scaled faster.

But then I remember: they weren't building in a category that barely existed.
I was.

This milestone belongs to everyone who took a chance on us. Every client who trusted us with their science. Every team member who chose to grow with us. Every mentor who believed when I couldn't.

And now I'm looking for something I always wanted:
A co-founder.

Someone who understands the real challenge here. Someone with complementary skills who can help us scale what we've built. Someone who sees the vision and wants to make it inevitable, not just possible.
