I lost a client last year because of LinkedIn.
I read a post by Jasmin Alić today and it mirrored something that happened in my work. 

One of my client’s LinkedIn accounts was restricted and flagged for “automated activity.” There was no automation involved. No third-party tools. No extensions. No assistants accessing the account. Everything was handled manually and cautiously.

Still, the restriction happened.

What followed was worse than the restriction itself. The client assumed the issue came from my side. From how the account was being handled. From something I must have done wrong. That assumption cost me the relationship.

I couldn’t prove otherwise. LinkedIn didn’t provide details. There was no clear explanation, no breakdown of activity, no way to demonstrate that the account had been managed correctly. From the client’s perspective, something went wrong under my watch, and that was enough.

This is what doesn’t get discussed enough in polite product updates. When LinkedIn flags an account without clarity, the damage doesn’t stop at the account holder. It spills outward. Consultants lose trust. Agencies lose clients. Professionals lose credibility through no fault of their own.

LinkedIn actively encourages people to build businesses here. Use the platform seriously. Show up consistently. Engage. Respond. Treat it as part of your revenue infrastructure. Many professionals do exactly that and structure their work around it.

When an account is suddenly restricted without transparent reasoning, the platform becomes a liability instead of an asset.

What makes this harder to accept is that LinkedIn has full visibility into account behaviour. Login history, connected tools, usage patterns, all of it. Yet the burden of explanation gets pushed onto users and consultants who have no access to that data and no way to defend their work.

This doesn’t just affect large creators. It affects service providers, founders, consultants, and small teams who rely on LinkedIn for credibility and client acquisition. A single unexplained restriction can undo months of trust building.

Jasmin is right to call this out publicly. Quiet support tickets and generic responses haven’t solved it.

Tagging you here because this is a systemic issue, not a one-off complaint.

2 years ago, I was broke.
Living alone in a rented place in Delhi.

I was working 9–5

Money has a brutal way of revealing people, especially when things go wrong and there’s nowhere left to hide behind confidence, credentials, or contracts.

I had one of the most disturbing conversations yesterday with a business coach I respect deeply, someone who has spent years building credibility and trust.

He told me about hiring an appointment setting and outbound agency that came in loud with promises, certainty, and “we’ve got this handled” energy, only to deliver zero meaningful results and absolutely no sense of ownership.

No qualified bookings 
Or outcomes worth standing behind.

What did happen was worse.

Their outreach was completely misaligned with his brand, careless with language, and steeped in misogyny that didn’t just feel uncomfortable but actively damaged how people perceived him, to the point where he personally went back and apologised to people for messages he didn’t even write, trying to clean up a mess that should never have existed in the first place.

When he finally sat down with them for a feedback conversation and calmly explained the lack of results, the reputational damage, and the emotional labour he was now doing just to protect his name, there was no accountability in the room.

There was panic.

And that panic had nothing to do with fixing the damage or making things right.

They asked him, almost desperately, if he was still going to clear the next month’s invoice.

That was the only question.
That was where their concern began and ended.

I sat with that for a long time because it perfectly captures how broken parts of this industry have become, where revenue is protected more fiercely than responsibility and contracts matter more than character, where people forget that lead generation is not just numbers on a dashboard but a direct extension of someone’s voice, values, and reputation.

This is exactly why I am uncompromising about ethics in my work, why I would rather walk away from money than take on something we cannot execute with care, consent, and respect, and why messaging is never “just copy” to me but a responsibility that can either build trust or quietly burn it down.

When things go wrong and your first instinct is to protect the invoice instead of the human being on the other side, you are not running a values-led business, you are running on borrowed integrity and hoping the consequences don’t catch up.

Choose who speaks for you when you’re not in the room.

Choose who represents your name in private conversations.

And please stop confusing cash flow with having a moral compass.

I went viral yesterday with 175,000+ impressions 
And it wasn’t a s*xy selfie post.

Honestly? I had no idea I would, neither did I expect to go it. 

It was only after 4 hours of posting that I found out when I came back to the app to respond to the comments, if any. 

In my observation, here’s why it went viral: 

1. It was a rant about people not reading content before they comment on it as observed in my originally referenced post where they apparently congratulated me for accepting that no one’s going to make it out alive LOL - A REAL PROBLEM content creators see on a daily.

2. It called out those who made AI comments without context. - VERY RELATABLE for those who are tired of irrelevant AI comments on their content. 

3. It was 100% organically written. Not a single word from ChatGPT. - I guess, LinkedIn algorithm recognises and promotes organically written content. 

4. Not a single comment (actually, one was) was an AI comment on the post. (Boy, was I pleasantly surprised)
- It signalled to linkedin that this was all organic and conversations were happening because of the real takeaway from the content. Hence, more reachability.

5.  I was moral policed for calling people out to congratulate me. - Of course, the back and forth happened and Linkedin recognised it as a post that nurtured conversations. 

My 2 cents on why it went viral. 

In a nutshell, the algorithm and people love more conversations, less AI.

I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.

Are you kidding me?!

Everyone was like Dubai this, Dubai that.
And the FOMO was very real.

I had to.
Come on. You can’t blame your gal.

It felt exactly like how our cute little digital nomads were obsessed with Bali in 2024.

And yeah, no kidding, I almost felt like a failure for not hopping on the Bali bandwagon back then.
Lol. Wild times.

Anywhoooo…

This trip wasn’t planned.

At all.

I booked my tickets barely a week before flying.

And honestly?
That’s started happening a lot with me lately.

I’ve noticed something.

Good things don’t happen when I overplan them. Or overthink them. Or try to control the hell out of them.

They happen when I let go.

For a travel lover like me, I only managed to travel long-term twice last year.
January.
And then December.

EMBARASSING!!!!

And in between??

Appointments. Financial ups and downs. Life admin. Work priorities. Healing. Being human.

So many plans that got cancelled at the last minute.

And for a long time, I made that mean something about me.

That I wasn’t doing enough.

But sitting there in DIFC, coffee in one hand, pancakes in the other, i realised something.

Life isn’t late. And timing isn’t something I need to wrestle into submission.

Some seasons are for building. Some are for pausing.

And all of them count.

I did not study marketing and sales in college

Was it brutal sometimes? Hell yes.

The real tragedy for me is shrinking myself to fit into a life I don’t even want.

If you’re scared to rewrite your story, listen up:
Choose courage over comfort.
Define success on your terms.
Stop apologizing for wanting more.

The world rewards the bold.
 

You weren’t born to live by someone else’s rules.

So go ahead.
Be the “black sheep.”
The rule breaker.
The one who never settles.

The ones who change the world never do.
