Data Scientist

Applying to 100 data science jobs isn’t a strategy. It’s stress.
Here are 6 steps I would follow today:

1.  Pick three companies I genuinely care about.
2.  Study their data science job postings like cheat sheets.
3.  Build a project that mirrors the problems they’re hiring for.
4.  Reach out to someone on the data or ML team.
5.  Ask thoughtful, role-specific questions.
6.  Then apply, with a referral.

ARE WOMEN READY TO CALL WOMEN OUT?

As we roll into 2026, it strikes me again — like a thunderbolt — that as the world rapidly dissolves into conflict, I must ask:

Why are women letting this happen?

Is that hard to hear?

It’s not the first time this question has struck me. It has been returning for over three decades — and now I must address it.

For 30 years in corporate consultancy, and a decade working with entrepreneurial audiences, I have addressed women, men, and diverse all-comers across the UK, Europe, Malaysia, the USA, Canada, and Africa.
Yet when I speak to women-only audiences, fewer than 5% agree with me that women are stuck when it comes to solving the issues designed into our world by men.

Is this the illusion of equality being our goal — fighting on enemy territory?

I believe we are done with that narrative.

Authentic Harmony must be our clarion call.

Striving for equality delivered wins, yet it also sustained stuckness. Women are still trying to change systems by adding females into an old blueprint — sending them in as agents in territory women did not design, instead of realizing we can build our own and reshape the landscape together.

Think with imagination — this is an #EntreprenologyMindset.

The economic landscape, financial institutions, corporations, education systems, money markets, AI, and political arenas were largely designed by men — with some women involved, but rarely in the majority. Female leaders who do emerge often face intense pressure simply for being women.

This is not a criticism of men.

They designed what they believed was necessary, driven by a warrior instinct to provide and protect. That evolution has brought us to 2026.

But if half the world is female, why is the world still so dissonant and destructive?

I do not believe women want it this way.

Perhaps we are approaching this from a restricted — even blind — perspective.

Since the 1980s, after returning to work once my children were old enough, I have observed something consistent. In presentations to women, I receive 100% engagement with personal development and career advice — yet barely 5% engagement when asking what women are not doing together to create a harmonious #jointcustodyworld.

Here is the hidden truth.

In one-to-one conversations, women of every generation and culture quietly say the same thing:

“Many women don’t get other women.”

These are senior professionals, business owners, and entrepreneurs across continents.

Today, we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. not as a symbol of history, but as a standard for leadership that remains painfully relevant.

His legacy asks something deeply uncomfortable of today’s leaders: not that we admire his courage, but that we measure our own against it.

Dr. King understood something many leaders still struggle with:
Real change begins long before the world is ready for it.

It begins in boardrooms that resist it.
In institutions that fear it.
In communities that are tired, divided or uncertain of what comes next.

His legacy reminds us that leadership is not measured by authority, title or visibility.
 
It is measured by the courage to advance dignity, equity, and justice, especially when the path forward is inconvenient, unpopular or costly.

In my work across governments, global corporations, and public systems, I continue to see the same truth Dr. King embodied:

People do not follow leaders who are powerful.
They follow leaders who make it safe to hope again.

Hope is not soft.
Hope is not passive.
Hope is a strategic advantage when trust collapses, institutions fracture and people question whether their voice matters.

MLK’s message echoes across 2026 with renewed urgency:
• When we choose silence, we strengthen the status quo.
• When we choose comfort over courage, we delay necessary progress.
• When we choose blame over accountability, we fracture our institutions.
• When we choose fear over humanity, we trade away the future we say we want to build.

Today is not a day for quotes.
It is a day for recalibration.

A day to ask ourselves:
• Where in my leadership am I still choosing safety over significance?
• Where can I use my influence to elevate someone who has been overlooked?
• Where can I trade convenience for courage?

This is not a message for someone else to absorb.

It is a reminder for all of us, in every role, at every level, that leadership begins within.

Dr. King did not leave us with a map.

He left us with a mandate:
Lead with humanity.
Speak with truth.
Act with purpose.
Build a future in which every person can rise.

May we honor his legacy not with words, but with the choices we make this week, this year, and every day forward.

Keep Rising.
Keep Leading.
Keep building the world Dr. King knew was possible.
