I’m a qualified lawyer with several years’ experience in both private practice and as in-house legal counsel at leading law firms and organisations. Alongside my legal career, I create relatable and impactful content on social media aimed at positively supporting those affected by negative corporate workplace behaviours.

I’m a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, particularly in the workplace, and I regularly speak about improving wellbeing for legal professionals and corporate leaders. Drawing on my personal journey and professional experience, I focus on the importance of mental health support, work-life balance, and creating healthier workplace cultures.

I’ve delivered talks at TEDx on the impact of toxic masculinity on men’s mental health, at the University of Cambridge and the University of Oxford on workplace wellbeing in the legal profession, and at Legal Geek on how Gen Z and Millennials are driving conversations about wellbeing. 

In addition to keynote speaking, I’ve contributed to national media including the BBC and ITV, and I regularly work with law firms, banks, and other corporate organisations to address culture and workplace wellbeing.

👨‍⚖️In 2016 I was convinced I knew what my legal career would look like.

🤓I started my training contract and assumed the usual career trajectory. I would qualify, work hard and maybe one day make partnership.

👀Ten years on, my legal career looks like nothing like how I originally planned and I’m most definitely not a law firm partner.

💪🏼Instead of following a non-traditional path (albeit Initially unintentionally), I’ve found my career in creating content, talking openly and honestly about workplace wellbeing and mental health within the legal profession. 

💙A lot can change in 10 year, but I’ve learned that being open to change or wanting something outside of a traditional career path, like the law firm partnership track, doesn’t mean I’ve failed or let myself down.

👀We’ll see what becomes of the next 10 years, but I’ll save that for a post in 2036 (lol if I end up becoming a law firm partner then…)

👴🏼I thought my 30’s would be all aches and pains, being a “serious” and “proper” adult and having to take life way too seriously.

💙I turned 33 recently and my 30’s so far have been nothing like I expected. They’ve turned out to be some of the most fun, healthy and productive years so far.

💪🏼It’s made me more aware and reflective as to how I’m living, who I’m spending time around and what im prioritising. 

🙏🏼With that said, as my birthday coincides with the start of the new year, I like to set myself some intentions for the year, this year those being:

1. Unlearn the idea that everything is urgent and needs to be done immediately (I blame the legal profession for this behaviour); and 
2. to advocate for myself more, even when it feels uncomfortable

Me after writing “2025” and having to delete it and write “2026”:

🥱Every legal conference/event is spewing the same thing:

“Lawyers need a personal brand”
“Personal brand is everything”
“Personal brand this, personal brand that”

💀However actually trying to build a personal brand whilst working in the legal profession IS a challenge. I almost got fired for it.

👴🏼The profession is slow to change, bound by tradition and often wary of anyone who doesn’t fit the perceived traditional mould.

💙Putting yourself out there can feel risky (which is scary for us lawyers as we’re trained to be risk adverse). Will people take you seriously? what if clients see it? Will colleagues question your commitment to the role? There is a quiet and constant pressure to confirm, I know because I felt it (and also felt slightly like a failure for wanting to do something other than “just” be a lawyer).

💪🏼The legal profession needs fresh voices, people that are open to challenge how things are done, and lawyers who aren’t afraid to break the mould. Personal branding is not about showing off, for me it’s about showing up and trying to make a positive change (which can only really be done if you’re willing to be seen).

👀 Are You Accidentally Burning Out Your Team?


AD: Many leaders often don’t realise how their own habits can actually (inadvertently) contribute to burnout amongst their teams. 

Working through lunch, skipping time off, or expecting immediate responses to messages can signal to teams that constant availability is the norm. 💪 Check in regularly: Ask how workloads feel, not just whether tasks are complete.

💪 Recognise effort: Celebrate wins and acknowledge hard work.
