It reminded me just how much power there is in niches.

A few examples:

1. A guy had built a dog-training community so specific that his content was tailored to individual dog breeds. The more specific the breed, the higher the conversions. A whole operation built on hyper-niche dog behaviour.

2. A woman teaching Excel had quietly amassed 30,000 students on Teachable alone!!

3. A ton of language communities with people building MASSIVE communities around helping people learn languages.

Where there is passion, there is community.
Where there is community, there is a business.

I’ve believed for a long time that this is the future of marketing.

Seeing it up close made me even more certain.

Waiting for validation is the most expensive mistake you'll make.

I learned this the hard way.

When I started FanBytes at 21, practically everyone around me doubted me.

"Influencer marketing? That's not a real business."
"You're too young to run a company."
"This won't scale past uni."

My own relatives told me to get a proper job. Clients we wanted to sign wouldn't return my emails. Prospects laughed us out of meetings.

Basically we were just three kids from uni trying to convince Nike to trust us…

And I just kept waiting for someone credible to say we were onto something.

That validation never came, so we just kept building.

I spoke to 700 graduates about how to build your dream career.

I came from a council estate and exited my company for 8-figures, so they wanted me to share my story.

I know that not everyone wants to build and sell a company, but there’s a playbook to building your dream career.

And no one teaches it.

Here was the playbook I shared:

1. 𝗜𝗻𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘀 = 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁𝘀.
Simple rule. You get out what you put in. Your results are a direct reflection of your effort. End of story.

2. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 > 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆.
Going hard for a week then quitting is pointless. The game is won by showing up every single day, especially when it’s boring. Discipline beats motivation, always.

3. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗲𝗽.
Stop overthinking. That 'perfect' moment you're waiting for doesn't exist. Send the email. Ask the dumb question. Make the mistake. Speed of execution beats perfection 10/10 times.

4. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿.
Your 'lack of experience' is your biggest advantage. You have no old rules to unlearn and you understand the world as it is now. That's a perspective older generations pay millions for. Use it.

5. 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗽.
You are your own CEO.

- Your skills are the product. Invest in R&D.
- Your personal brand is marketing. Build it.
- Your career path is your strategy. Don't be afraid to pivot.

Everyone obsesses over why they can’t do something:

→ "What if I fail?"

But nobody talks about the cost of doing nothing.

Every time you choose safety over possibility, you're voting for a smaller version of yourself.

You're not just avoiding risk. You're also becoming someone who avoids risk…

These are the real questions you need to ask:

→ What if it works and I never tried?
→ What if I'm ready right now?
→ What if regret costs more than failure ever could?

Your future self isn't waiting for you to be ready.

They're waiting for you to be brave.

You thought that dreaming small was keeping you safe. But let me tell you this, it’s the most expensive choice you’ll ever make.

So you only have 2 options:

Take the risk now.
Or pay the price of regret.

Do the boring stuff insanely well.

I sold my last company for tens of millions of dollars, but not because we were the best.

When we were selling Fanbytes, 3 companies put in bids. They asked, “Are you the best influencer marketing company in history?”

And I said, ‘Not really.’

Sometimes we were good.
Sometimes we weren’t.

But we were consistent. For 6 years, we just showed up and grew steadily year after year.

While others were raising multiple millions in investment, we were focused on momentum, doing the work, getting clients results, over and over again.

And that’s what most people miss.

Success isn’t about heroics.

It’s about consistency.

It’s doing the boring things for an extended period so insanely well and in more volume than any sane person would find reasonable.

POV: Your mic cuts out mid-TED Talk in Uganda.

800 people staring at you.

Last week, I was giving this talk about overcoming obstacles (ironic, right?) when the audio just dies. Tech team's scrambling around, giving me the "5 minutes to fix" signal.

Now I've got a choice.

I can either stand there awkwardly while everyone checks their phones, or turn this into a chance to re-energise the room.

"Alright, we've got 5 minutes. Everyone up!"

Next thing, the whole room's on their feet. I love doing this. I love getting everyone to shout and jump.

I also spotted a woman in the back who wanted to pitch her business idea.

By the time my mic comes back, nobody even cares about the technical stuff anymore. We're all just buzzing from what just happened.

Perfect delivery isn't the point of speaking. 

It's about reading the room and working with what you've got.

So, next time something goes wrong, do this:

1️⃣ When something breaks, don't wait for someone else to fix it.

You're responsible for your own life and your own success. Take relentless action to get the best outcome possible.

2️⃣ Don't be afraid to give others the spotlight.

People remember how you made them FEEL. Make them feel like the smartest people in the room.

3️⃣ Your response to failure defines the outcome

In every failure, you have the choice: panic, or pivot. 


The moment when things go wrong can be a massive opportunity to get an even better outcome.

You don't rise to your goals.

I grew up on Old Kent Road council estate in South London, where most kids had their ambition beaten out of them before they turned 15.

Then I got a bursary to Christ's Hospital School.

Walking onto those grounds for the first time was wild.

Rugby fields bigger than my entire council estate.
Buildings older than my whole neighbourhood.
Kids casually chatting about ski trips.

I remember standing there, and I thought “There's absolutely no way I can be in this place and stay the same person I was yesterday.”

And that was exactly why I chose it.

Not for the education.

But because I needed to completely change my environment if I wanted a different life.

When you're suddenly surrounded by kids whose parents work in boardrooms instead of building sites, your brain starts working differently.
It changes EVERYTHING…

People always ask me how I went from council estate to selling my company for 8-figures.

It wasn't about working harder.
I just refused to stay in the environment that was keeping me small.

Most people try to build something massive while staying exactly where they are, surrounded by the same people who think their dreams are unrealistic.

That's like trying to get fit while living in McDonald's.

If you actually want different results, you need to physically put yourself in different surroundings.

Your environment is either lifting you up or weighing you down.

There's no middle ground.

More recently I managed, form concept to product, Leeds University Unions first clothing sale lock-in. Closing down the building and offering food and drinks along with discounted clothing offers, for a limited time, for a limited clientele. This concept was developed through working with multiple departments including the advertising and marketing team, to create photo shoots and videos that would attract and relate to 30,000+ students. The event proved very successful and is currently being reviewed as a permanent event within the union.

Skills: Cash handling, customer service, managing a team, communication, problem solving, photo/video editing, interviewer skill and time management.

Responsibilities: Cash handling, self-management, opening and closing shop and shop layout and dynamics.

Gear Retail Sales Assistant

I'm currently researching events for 2026 and want to put myself out there by saying 👉 "I'm open to speaking opportunities" 👈 whether it’s podcasts, panels, workshops, intimate gatherings, or large stages.

My focus? Data-informed storytelling.
I truly believe that when people feel empowered to understand and use data, it can genuinely transform communities, businesses, and their sense of self. However, the gap between those who hold data and those who want to be informed by it isn't closing, despite certain barriers being lowered.

So, over the next 12 months, I really aim to:
👉 Show people exactly how powerful stories can be, and the role data can play
👉 Help brand, creative, social, and data teams work together seamlessly
👉 Share and build amazing ideas, concepts, and campaigns

I remember being shown around a new office once, by someone who clearly wasn't aware of my role, and being told, "That's where the data team sits, but no one speaks to them so don't worry." ... hi, that is moi 👋🏾 

I believe that when people feel empowered to use and understand data, it has the ability to transform communities, businesses, and their sense of self. 

I believe that behind every number is a story worth telling, and my job is to translate it.

Hot take: You can't do "data-led" anything without data people.


Hear us out. When people feel empowered to use and understand data, it can transform communities, businesses, and even their sense of self.

But something isn't adding up. BuzzStream's 2025 State of Digital PR report shows:
🌶️ Data-led content is the No.1 tactic in digital PR (used by ~95% of pros)
🌶️ Measuring impact, ideation, and data collection are the biggest headaches
🌶️ When PRs collaborate, they mostly work with SEO-by a long shot (Data/insight teams don't even make the shortlist)

That mismatch explains why so many people feel overwhelmed by data, burned out on ideation, and like data isn't part of their role, but they "have to" do it to keep up.

If your PR plan says "data-led" but your calendar says "no time with Data," that's the gap to close. I promise you, they're lovely people.

The [data] State of Digital PR

Possibly the most middle-class confession I'll ever make. But I recently bought my car solely on ChatGPT's recommendation. For someone who grew up in the generation of "that's a laptop activity" when booking holidays, it honestly wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. 

I was able to communicate:
👉🏾What I love about driving
👉🏾The things I need from my car 
👉🏾The things that annoy me about my previous cars
👉🏾My financial reach
👉🏾What certain brands mean to me
👉🏾My driving habits
👉🏾How long would I like to own it
👉🏾Compromises I'm willing to make 

Next thing I know, I've got a fully electric car outside my drive - craziest part, the first time I'd physically even seen that car was when it arrived 😂. It even recommended delivery options because the best deal was 150+ miles away. I now have an at-home charger, and I've switched my energy provider to suit. All on the recommendations and support from ChatGPT. 

So far, no regrets. Wild stuff from a kid from Stockton 😂

That’s modern search.
It’s messy. It’s multi-channel. It’s human.

From dog food to fitness trackers, even B2B sectors like card machine providers -
search doesn’t start with keywords anymore. It starts with pain points.

Once you know that -and understand which channels people use, what keywords they search, and why -
you can map content like a true organic media planner.
