I read and commented on a post earlier that really triggered me. It was implying that more hours and no work/life balance was essential to “achieving the mission”. 

I think that’s a complete crock of💩, to be blunt. 

The 9-9-6 mindset, the Adderal-fueled misery of those chained to their work, and bosses who value time spent on the job more than output are utter and complete bullshit and unnecessary. 

Truly high achievers don’t need to work 100 hour weeks. They get done in 40 what most take a month to do. Those are the people I built my companies around.  And we had time for our families, our friends, our lives.

We also worked extremely effectively as a team - further amplifying our individual capabilities. 

When we had a challenging deadline we were in a much better position to pull a marathon session or two out, because we weren’t burnt out and because we didn’t back a stressed out home life.

And the results spoke for themselves. So much so that I’ve considered writing a book called “Slackerpreneuring”. 

TL;DR version : I don’t buy the “mission before clock” narrative one bit.

I am lucky to have a nice "quiver" of various types of bikes, from gravel, to fat/snow, to enduro, to cross-country, and even an e-mountain bike.  In the mountain bike world, some of us refer to "non-e-bikes" (which comprise most of my miles) as "Amish bikes", due to their lack of technology.

That got me thinking that I should call my style of writing "Amish writing" - because I do not and will not use AI to assist any posts or comments (other than the occasional image for attention, as with this post).

So consider this my official guarantee that I'll keep "Amish posting" and not using AI slop when I rant!

Spent the day building some stuff using the CESMII I3X interface(s). I had Claude Code generate me a simulated factory and an I3X wrapper around it, then I coded up an I3X wrapper around the Vestaboard API (also used Claude to write the outbound API code).  

An agent then asks the simulated factory for the state of CNC Machine 101 and then writes that data to the Vestaboard.  

Vestaboards are cool AF by the way.  Total throwback to the rail station status boards but internet connected and super flexible and fun.
