I run an all-female company in technology, transformation and executive recruitment.
And I’m also raising two young boys.

International Women’s Day makes me reflect on both.

Yes, it’s a day to celebrate the incredible women around us.

But it’s also a reminder that equality is still a work in progress.

🌍Globally, 1 in 3 women will experience violence in their lifetime.
🚺Around 50,000 women are killed each year by an intimate partner or family member.
💰And in Australia, the gender pay gap still sits at roughly 21%.

Those numbers are hard to ignore.

Equality isn’t just a women’s issue.
It’s everyone’s responsibility.

In my work I see the impact of opportunity every day.

I see incredible women ready to lead major programs, shape technology strategy, run transformation portfolios and drive change across organisations.

But I also see how confidence gaps, unconscious bias, and traditional pathways can still slow progress.

Sometimes it’s subtle.

Who gets encouraged to apply.
Who gets given the stretch role.
Who gets backed when they step into leadership.

And those small decisions add up.

As a recruiter, a business owner, and a mum, I think a lot about the kind of world the next generation will step into.

I want my boys to grow up respecting strong women.
Working alongside them.
Reporting to them.
Championing them.
And never questioning whether they belong at the table

It’s about continuing to build environments where talent can thrive, regardless of gender.

And raising the next generation to expect nothing less.

Searching for a new role at an executive level can be confronting

At any level really.

Over the past few months I’ve spoken with many leaders across technology, transformation and data who are navigating a tougher job search than they expected.

The market feels more competitive.
Processes are slower.
And the silence between conversations can feel longer than usual.

That environment can create a few challenges for even the most capable leaders.

1️⃣ Imposter syndrome
Even the best leaders occasionally question themselves when opportunities take longer to land.
But the reality is this. The market has shifted, not your capability.

2️⃣ Fatigue and uncertainty
A long search can cloud judgement.
It becomes tempting to pursue roles that do not quite align with your strengths or aspirations.

3️⃣ Short-term decisions
When momentum slows, it can feel easier to chase anything that moves rather than the opportunity that truly fits.
