Hey! I'm Tom Chain

I always knew I was too free spirited for the corporate world, even though I learned a lot and thrived in investment banking, private equity, and tech startups.

In 2021, I reached a breaking point. I could not keep playing a role I no longer believed in, so I quit my job and started making self-development videos on YouTube, learning everything from editing to scripting. I also dug deeper into philosophy, human psychology, and self-development.

That is when I discovered how much I love writing, reflecting, and using visuals to convey big ideas. My educational content soon led people to ask for coaching, so I added that to my offerings.

Teaching has always felt natural to me. I have an affinity for polymathy, and I believe one of the best ways to learn is by teaching. My passion is helping others improve their own lives, whether it is their skills, performance, lifestyle, or education.

I am still growing and building my dream brick by brick, and I am grateful for your presence and support.

As the person responsible for merger communication in this community, I am proud that we achieved 60% transparency rating in this challenging time.
•	Built a collaborative platform for the broad Cement Manufacturing community of 60’000 people to stay informed and share experiences.
•	Coordinated and published success stories to illustrate the value add of Performance Excellence in Cement to the Holcim world. 
•	Coached community managers to create topic related platforms to share and communicate success stories and best practices with regions and plants.
•	Supported merger related activities through internal communication to boost transparency and engagement.

Communications Coordinator

My greatest achievement was mobilizing 100+ regional and country representatives from April to the Go Live in September. The change framework was the foundation for local implementation plans with the local Change Managers to deploy Google Apps to the Holcim Group (40,000+ employees). The Change framework was designed, developed and shared with all regions to adapt to local needs and included:
•	Rolled-out the communication campaign (designs, templates and examples)
•	Developed the training package and trained trainers to act as super users
•	Created the ambassador program and trained ambassadors to drive implementation on the ground
•	Measured and monitored the adoption of change through regular surveys to adapt the rollout

Change Manager

My greatest achievement was to build a stimulating and self-sustaining turntable with both global and local communication and awareness tools to support the adoption of the ASK-LEARN-SHARE culture. 
•	Established a global change communication package for local implementation of the Knowledge Management (KM) framework (virtual communities of practice and collaboration based on the ASK-LEARN-SHARE methodology)
•	Established a systematic process to retain critical knowledge: Process for Effective Experience Retention (PEER) 
•	Created a corporate narrative for key sustainable development messages through consultation with subject experts, signed-off by the Executive Committee and published globally.

My achievement was to conceptualise and manage
- a companywide knowledge management policy through extensive consultation 
- a framework and system to capture and action learnings on all Sasol Technology projects and critical internal processes. The framework includes facilitation guides for peer assists, knowledge assists and retrospects as well as a learning tracking system.
- a document management framework with project document controllers for front end loading projects 
- a comprehensive community framework including a facilitation tool and system to enable the electronic collaboration within geographically dispersed communities
- the corporate memory database (Knowledge Online) in Livelink with an Advanced Classification and Taxonomy management tool
