Hey! I'm Tom Chain

I always knew I was too free spirited for the corporate world, even though I learned a lot and thrived in investment banking, private equity, and tech startups.

In 2021, I reached a breaking point. I could not keep playing a role I no longer believed in, so I quit my job and started making self-development videos on YouTube, learning everything from editing to scripting. I also dug deeper into philosophy, human psychology, and self-development.

That is when I discovered how much I love writing, reflecting, and using visuals to convey big ideas. My educational content soon led people to ask for coaching, so I added that to my offerings.

Teaching has always felt natural to me. I have an affinity for polymathy, and I believe one of the best ways to learn is by teaching. My passion is helping others improve their own lives, whether it is their skills, performance, lifestyle, or education.

I am still growing and building my dream brick by brick, and I am grateful for your presence and support.

I’m an investment operations and client services professional with 16 years’ experience across buy-side, sell-side, and prime brokerage. My career has taken me from trading desks and reconciliations to client-facing roles at Citi, UBS O’Connor, and Värde Partners, where I built a reputation for problem-solving under pressure, improving processes, and strengthening client relationships.

In 2021, I stepped out of banking to run a career coaching practice. Over two years, I delivered 200+ sessions, helping professionals in finance and fintech navigate redundancy, career transitions, and burnout. That experience sharpened my mentoring skills and deepened my understanding of resilience, people, and leadership.

Now, I’m ready to return to financial services, bringing together operational expertise with a coach’s eye for people and performance. Whether solving trade breaks, improving settlement efficiency, or mentoring colleagues, I thrive at the intersection of detail and human connection.

Outside of work, I write, blog, and explore life’s tougher questions with the same curiosity I bring to markets and teams.
