“We need to let them go.”

I’m in a 1-1 and a manager thinks someone in their team isn’t performing.

I'm in shock, to me they seemed enthusiastic and a culture fit.


We dug into the details:

- What weren’t they doing?
- Why weren’t they doing it?

WithSecure is a publicly listed European cybersecurity company (NASDAQ Helsinki), delivering advanced solutions to mid-sized companies around the world.

I led the demand program for the launch of a brand-new product—Exposure Management—a first not only for WithSecure, but also a new product in the broader cybersecurity landscape.

The launch was a success: within just a few months, we onboarded several hundred partners and engaged over 1,000 end customers—driving seven-figure revenue within the first six months.

My role was hands-on: building and executing full-funnel demand marketing programs from the ground up, working closely with teams across marketing, product, sales, business development, and customer service, and collaborating across multiple regions and time zones to bring everything together.

I jumped into a fast-paced environment and quickly got up to speed—learning internal processes, aligning with the overall strategy, and building relationships with key stakeholders, all under tight timelines (there was a 3-month lead-up to Early Access and 6 months to General Availability).

During my year as CEO at CMOwashere, I steered the startup on a part-time basis and with a part-time Marketer, generating 85k Euro in revenue. During my tenure at Flexmill, a leading system integrator and technology provider specializing in robotic surface removal solutions for aerospace, automotive, energy, and marine industries, I achieved significant milestones. Notably, within the initial 10 months, I successfully generated over 120 highly qualified and engaged leads, marking a remarkable 900% surge compared to the previous period. With an average cost per acquisition of 240 Euro and an average deal value ranging between 0.5 - 1 million Euro, my strategic marketing initiatives played a pivotal role in driving substantial growth and fostering valuable business opportunities. During my tenure, the company was successfully acquired by Mirka Group.

At Emvisage, my role as a Fractional Chief Marketing Officer involved spearheading the comprehensive revamp of the Marketing and Communications strategy, significantly amplifying the company's online presence through meticulously planned PPC campaigns and impactful social selling initiatives.

Zervant

Being the Brand Manager at Zervant allowed me to work with all teams across the organisation, be it marketing, HR, R&D, customer support etc. and offer support and guidance when it comes to our mission and values. I was involved in several projects, but my biggest strength and passion lies in building and implementing Zervant's content strategy.

I was responsible for marketing the Zervant solution in the DACH countries. I was the first marketing employee at Zervant and have developed the market entry model and distribution channels in continental Europe from 2013 to 2017.


- Managing all online and offline marketing activities in the German-speaking countries
- Allocating budgets to different channels e.g. Adwords, PR, Link-Building, Social Media, Events etc.
- Hands-on work including tools like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Xing, Moz, Wordpress, etc.
- Establishing strategic partnerships for building, promoting and managing the Zervant brand online eg. with organization that support entrepreneurship
- Writing and publishing more 150+ articles on the Zervant blog and relevant websites (in German) e.g. T3N, unternehmer.de, salesforce.de etc. Through that generating more than 60.000 unique visitors per month to the company's blog
- Making Zervant a thought leader in the Fintech industry
- Defining product features based on customer and market demands together with the development team
