Self respect is everything. 

I don’t care if it’s your biggest client, a partner, a friend or a family member.

If someone says something rude, out of line or is just downright condescending - I’m ending that conversation and thinking twice about that partnership.

We all work way too hard to have someone take out their bad day on you. 

There’s a way to address tardiness. 
There’s a way to address poor performance.
There’s a way to address frustration. 

And none of those require being rude, arrogant or condescending. 

One thing I’ve learned about those that are the most successful around me isnt just how they make money but how they handle conflict. 

We’ve all had our days I’m sure but I’m making it a point to to keep my emotions in check. 

It’s never okay to cross that line especially in lines of work where we aren’t saving the world (99% of them).

“Aneesh, how do I build my luck?”

I get this type of question a lot. 

Especially when it’s from those that feel that they’re behind.

There are a few things to keep in mind when “building your luck”.

1.  Intent
2. Reps 
3. Proximity
4. Access 

Let’s start with Intent. 

Intent refers to your goals and mindset when approaching someone. Are you there to take? Or give ? 

If all you’re doing is asking for things - you won’t get very far. 

Give time. Give advice. Give research. SHOW effort. 

This opens up conversations when you’re looking to ask for something from someone. 

2. Reps or Repetitions. 

Think about going to the gym. 

Are you going to see results if you run once or lift weights that one time ? 

No (but good lord I wish this was the case). 

The reality is all good things take time and repetitions. 

This means going to multiple events, leading with abundance intent (point 1) multiple times and putting in the thorough volume necessary to “create your own luck”.

People give up WAY to early and this step alone knocks out 80% of the players. 

3. Proximity - what/who are you actually close to? 

Location matters.

Virtually - this space is declining unless you’re in a paid/exclusive mastermind or network that’s feeding you opportunities. Building trust can also be hard unless you’re referred by someone. 

IRL is taking off and where many people are delineating between AI slop and what to adopt/work with next. The speed to earn trust is sometimes also easier here. 

And for those that are creators in our space the volume of competition is only increasing. Being in the right rooms matter, which leads me to the final luck builder,

4. Access

This is the hardest one. The only thing I’ll say here is that you have to do the first 3 well to unlock #4. 

Access is usually granted by someone who is vouching for you - even in rooms you’ve paid to be in. People only introduce and refer people they like and trust (for the most part). 

Do these 4 steps and you’ll start getting opportunities. 

The outsiders and critics will say you’re lucky. 

But only you will know the actual work you put in to get there. 

Be so good that people think you’re lucky.
