Think Big, a programme by the Telefonica Foundation to bring novel technologies into the classrooms of high schools, had its first Germany wide tour in 2015. During the course of six weeks thousands of students had the opportunity to develop their own app, social business or music video employing state of the art technology. 

I was in charge of the concept and implementation of the workshop modules, training of the tour staff and set with the Yaez team the initial focus.

Together with Prof. Fischer I researched the impact of various known and proposed Hepatitis C drugs on the membrane channels of the virus through molecular dynamics. In the project I had the chance to learn the basics of molecular dynamics, force-field calculation, and python programming.

Along side of Prof. Lenhard and Dr. Sicard I worked on the on the evolution of size control in plants. This research has implications for plant breeding in a world of ever-growing resource pressure. Next to the necessary molecular biology skills I was able to take part in the ethical discussion surrounding plant genetics - a first start into innovation management.

With over 10 years of experience in strategic design and innovation, Niklas is passionate about creating positive impact on the lives of users by developing user-centered services and business models. He has a Master in Biochemistry from Oxford and Freie University Berlin, and a Design Thinking education from the Hasso Plattner Institute.

As a freelance consultant, he works with clients from various sectors, especially healthcare and sustainability, to help them manage uncertainty, coach teams, and apply design thinking, service and product design, and business design methods. He has successfully delivered projects for companies such as DB Schenker, B.Braun Melsungen AG, and Miele & Cie. KG, where he created the first product as a service and data as a service IoT enabled business models. He also mentors and supports startups and social innovators with his expertise and network.
