Weddings are one of the few moments in adult life where you’re expected to make a long list of high-stakes decisions while emotionally exposed, time-constrained, and surrounded by advice that’s often well-meaning but rarely structured. People call it magical. What it usually feels like is cognitive overload layered on top of very real relational and financial pressure.

You’re choosing vendors, venues, timelines, aesthetics, and commitments that shape your future while your nervous system is already maxed out. Most tools respond to that moment by offering more options, more noise, and more urgency. That rarely leads to better decisions.

People love to say I’ve made being gay my whole personality.
Which is funny, because most of my content doesn’t mention it at all.
But every time I do, the LinkedIn lunatics act like I’ve committed a felony by stating a fact about my own life.

Being queer is not difficult.
People who hate queer people make being queer difficult.

I’m not “surviving” my identity. I’m surviving the world’s reaction to it.
Same with being autistic. Same with ADHD. Same with spending 29 out of 31 years with an undiagnosed personality disorder that left me without a self to even return home to. You don’t “struggle with confidence” when you have no stable identity. You just drift through your own life, half-present and half-erased, without realizing how deep the damage goes.

I didn’t understand how unhealthy my life was until I crawled out of it.
The depression. The bitterness. The isolation. The death threats. The moments where I didn’t want to keep going. The way I made myself smaller because I thought shrinking was the safer option.

Queer people aren’t loud because we’re performing.
We’re loud because it’s the only way we’ve ever been allowed to keep breathing.
Our flamboyance is not rebellion for sport.
It’s coping.
It’s armor.
It’s reclamation after a lifetime of being treated like a problem.

I never saw queer leaders in business growing up. Not in boardrooms. Not in strategy discussions. Not in the places where decisions actually shape the world. So I decided I’m going to be that person for the people who come after me.

One day some young queer kid will open LinkedIn and see that we’re here too.
Not hidden. Not muted. Not filtered into the “creative” boxes straight people feel safest with.
Actually leading. Actually building. Actually visible.

People warn me about safety constantly. As if I haven’t already run the math on what it means to be openly queer in this country.

So let me say this plainly:

I would rather die tragically than live a tragic life.
Because if the thing that kills me is being myself, then it only proves how vile the people who fear us really are. That’s not the ending I want. But if that’s the ending I get, at least it will be mine.
I refuse to contort myself into something smaller just to make my existence more comfortable for people who wish I didn’t have one.

This isn’t branding.
This isn’t provocation.
This isn’t some theatrical protest.

This is coping.
This is healing.
This is selfhood I fought decades to find.

My existence is only a protest because the world insists on treating it like one.
I didn’t choose the target.
I chose to stop hiding.
