I’m Batm…  Er – hi, I’m Owen.  I partner with small businesses and families of all fashions to confront immediate challenges and prepare for the future.  I am an attorney, but I escaped Biglaw in time to retain my sense of humor and instinct to meet people where they are to provide genuine care and aid.

Perhaps I am a masochist, but I own and operate two businesses: McGrannLAW LLC (and it’s brand, Seed Counsel), a firm dedicated exclusively to startups, early-stage, and small businesses; and Purely Estates – a firm whose name says exactly what we do.

I worked for large regional law firms and a giant multi-national firm before striking out on my own, frustrated with a business model that had completely lost the plot and had become utterly unresponsive – even antagonistic – to its “customers.”

My firms are designed to provide an experience unlike any you've had with lawyers. Hell, "lawyer" barely penetrates how I think of myself and I've worked my ass off to create businesses that feel like you're partnering with an ally rather than hiring help that sends off curt missives with time-bomb bills. I'll talk with you like a normal person. I'll meet with you on Zoom and won't ever make you dress up or sit uncomfortably in a room full of overdressed attorneys. Seriously: we don't have to live like that.

I'm also a guy in Pittsburgh who is married to a lovely woman, has two Airedales (lord help us, "We'd like a terrier please!"  "Would you like to Super Size that?"  "...yes?"), loves to play guitar, and is as apt to be found reading Wittgenstein or Pynchon as reading a Batman comic.  I am comfortable in a suit, but would rather attend meetings in a hoodie.  A-and I've nearly died a few times, leaving me with replacement parts stitched in. We get to play this game but once and I'm focused on the living, not just the achieving and preening.
