Before my advisory career, I held CEO and executive leadership roles in retail banking, mortgages, and investment management—firsthand experience that continues to shape my work on transformation challenges.

I serve as Senator for Ireland at the World Business Angels Investment Forum (WBAF), affiliated with the G20’s Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion, and as a board member of the WBAF Global Science, Technology & Innovation Committee. I also co-founded the Digital Transformation Lab at Cork University Business School (UCC), a think tank focused on digital transformation. In executive education, I am a faculty member at the Institute of Bankers in Ireland, delivering programmes on digital disruption in financial services and fintech.

Currently a PhD candidate researching board and executive understanding of digital disruption, I hold dual MBAs in Banking and General Management. I have co-authored nine books on Islamic Finance/Fintech, and among them is the Encyclopedia of Islamic Finance, which is the first of its kind and has sold over 1000 copies worldwide. 

As a frequent traveller, I have given lectures on Islamic finance/finance worldwide, such as the Harvard Islamic Finance Forum at Harvard Law School, Gulf Research Meeting at Cambridge University, UK, Durham University Summer School and Seoul International Finance Conference (SIFIC), among others. I have been appointed as a visiting Associate professor at Universities in the UK and Indonesia. I have co-edited special issues on Islamic finance in mainstream finance and economics journals such as The World Economy, Managerial Finance and Economic Papers.

✅ After several years of a frozen fintech #IPO market, it is thawing. 16 (11 #VC-backed) fintech companies went public this year.

✅ #Revenue multiples continue rising,and e last two years have shown that #investors place a premium on ‘goldilocks’ companies 

✅  new financial services giants
were forged over the last decade. Much like Uber , PayPal , and Square  were
initially dismissed yet became leaders in their respective categories, so too have
companies like Nubank , Affirm , Stripe and Robinhood  become leaders in theirs.

✅ The last decade of venture capital investment has returned an
estimated $2.4T, Fintech makes up ~$0.6T, including some of the most valuable private fintech companies in the world like Stripe
($107B), Revolut  ($75B) and Ramp  ($32B).

✅ 2025 is also the year that #crypto earned a front-row seat next to #TradeFi. #Stablecoins became a real, non-speculative digital asset crossing $1T in monthly volume. Over 75 new #cryptoETFs were launched
