Providing care in an LDRP setting in a busy maternity care unit. Daily tasks include assessing triage
patients who come into the unit for a variety of reasons (PIH/Pre-eclampsia work-ups, rule out labor, and
various complications of pregnancy), caring for women in the labor and delivery process, administering
magnesium sulfate, preparing women for induction of labor, administering Pitocin, circulating in the OR
for c-sections, performing the role of scrub nurse, and providing care in the post-op recovery period,
participating on the birth response team to assess and, if need be, resuscitate the newborn, providing PPV/CPAP/ oxygen administration to newborns needing stabilization.
Providing care to mothers in infants in the postpartum period, including assisting with breastfeeding
(working in partnership with CLCs), assisting with ADL's, performing assessments, and medication
administration. Also matching patients with any support that may be needed (psychologically or socially)
before discharge.
Performing the role of charge nurse overseeing admissions, discharges, staffing and scheduling
procedures.
Participating in Peer Review Committee, reviewing patient charts for compliance with IU Health
standards, and advising colleagues as needed to meet compliance.

Lewis-Gale Medical Center

Providing care to patients in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, and Newborn Nursery. Daily tasks include
assessing OBED patients who come into the unit for a variety of reasons (PIH work-ups, rule out labor,
and other complications of pregnancy), caring for women in the labor and delivery process, administering
magnesium sulfate, preparing women for induction of labor, administering Pitocin, circulating in the OR
for c-sections and providing care in the post-op recovery period, performing the role of first assist during
c-sections, participating on the birth response team to assess and, if need be, resuscitate the newborn,
providing PPV/CPAP/ oxygen administration to newborns needing stabilization, obtaining blood
samples, and starting and maintaining IV access in newborns.
Provide care to women and infants in the recovery and postpartum period using the couplet care model,
with regular assessments, teaching, med administration, and assistance with ADL's provided.
Appropriate support was provided to each patient determined to be at risk financially, physically, or
psychologically before discharge. Breastfeeding support also provided, working in conjunction with IBCLC’s.

LEWIS-GALE MEDICAL CENTER, LLC

Providing care to oncology and med/surgical patients in a busy acute care setting. Compassion, time
management, clinical skills in a wide variety of situations, as well as teamwork and communicating with
physicians were essential to providing quality care and timely interventions.

Monroe County Health Department

Designed and developed an all new HIV case management program to transition HIV positive patients
into primary care with an infectious disease specialist.
• Performed patient intakes to gather relevant medical/social history
• Performed physical exams and obtained samples for laboratory testing
• Ordered, obtained, and interpreted appropriate lab results for various STIs
• Performed blood draws for syphilis and  HIV testing
• Patients were referred to me for HIV post-test counseling and follow-up
• Home visits as required to locate HIV+ individuals who refused or were unable to return for test results
• Administered standing orders of medications & treatments such as cryotherapy
• Matched patients with appropriate agencies and services in the community
• Ensured external follow-up with at-risk patients where required

Currently providing care in Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, and NICU settings in a busy maternity care unit. Additionally, my current responsibilities include providing care to mothers and infants in the postpartum period, including assisting with breastfeeding (working in partnership with CLCs), assisting with ADL's, performing assessments, and medication administration. Also, staff nurses are expected to assist social workers in the matching of patients with any support that may be needed (psychologically or socially)
before discharge.
