Be mindful of accounts that come camouflaged like this.

They are connected to 1 - 10 of your mutuals
They probably sent a connection and got accepted. 

First they InMail you
Then come asking for a demo in a manner no buyer/seller would ask.

I confronted this one, first he lashed out and also bowed out by deleting/deactivating his profile or probably blocked me.

He said I should switch to marketing, really?

Not all sales roles are created equally.

Check out these two scenarios:

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 1
Works at a company that brought its product late into the market
Or sells a product that’s a nice-to-have, but doesn't really solve a problem.

They work hard
They prospect
They show up every day and sweat it out
Still… they struggle to hit quota.

On paper, they’re seen as underperforming.

𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 2
Works at a company with a raving product, a product that solves a real, painful problem.

Strong demand. Clear value. Right timing.

They don’t have to struggle as much
They hit quota consistently
On paper, they’re a top gun!

Same effort.
Different environment.

In the end the industry favors people 
Who are quota crushers more than the other. (Outcome)

And outcomes are heavily influenced by what you sell and who you sell it for.

This is one part of sales you can control
So choose the company you join wisely.

Money is 70% the reason why I got into tech sales

I don't deny it.

But then I never let my happiness depend on money,
I'll say do the same if you can.

You'll find yourself wanting more if you allow it:

When you’re clearing $100k a year, you’ll want $300k
When you start making $300k every year, you’ll want $1M
Even when you get to that $1M mark, you'll be looking at $10M

It's almost never enough.

Money can buy you great things in life and give you extreme comfort.

But then there are also many things 
Your happiness should depend on and money can't buy them.

The solution is to find your balance.

Everyone's talking about sending the best cold emails.

Almost no one talks about how to respond after a prospect replies positively
This is where most outbound leaks.

Reps over-explain
Re-pitch the product
Send long paragraphs.

You don’t need another pitch
You need to respond fast, short, and simple.

Here’s a simple template I use.

"Hey Sophie,

Thank you so much for the response, are you available Tuesday at 10am or Thursday at 2pm EST?

And if it's earlier here's my calendar link."

It's simple and straightforward
If you want, you can also send the agenda after the meeting is booked.

There are many factors behind a good cold email campaign
If you want replies, you'll need to stack the odds up front.
