Why I almost wasted 60% of my chiropractic lead list (and how Clay saved it).

Building a list for businesses offering chiropractic services seemed straightforward. Search "chiropractor" → scrape contacts → send emails.

But here's what I actually found:
When you search for "chiropractic services," you get wildly different businesses:
-Standalone chiropractic clinics (chiro is 100% of their business)
-Wellness centers (chiro + massage + PT + acupuncture)
-Medical groups (chiro is one small speciality among many)

The problem: If you don't segment these properly, you're either:
❌ Sending "fill your chiropractic calendar" messaging to a medical group (irrelevant)
❌ Pitching "coordinate multi-service bookings" to a standalone clinic (confusing)
❌ Missing the wellness centres entirely because your messaging assumed they only do chiro

My solution: AI validation + segmentation in Clay
Built a workflow that:
Step 1: Validates that they actually offer chiropractic
AI scrapes their website (services page, about page, homepage)
Confirms: Yes, they provide chiropractic services

Step 2: Categorise by business model
✅ Main business: Chiropractic is 80%+ of what they do
⚠️ Part of business: Chiro is one of 3-5 services (wellness centres)
❌ Not relevant: The website does not load  or has outdated info

Step 3: Create messaging for each lead(Main business and Part of business)  based on the tier

Saved 40% of my time by not reaching out to Tier 3(Not relevant)

Without proper segmentation, I would've either:
Sent one generic message to all (low reply rates across the board)
Only targeted standalone clinics (missed 45% of potential customers)
Different business models = different pain points = different messaging.

How are you validating and segmenting your leads? Would love to learn a better way.

The best way to learn a tool is to use it to solve  a real Business problem.

I solved one and also got a barge along 😀.

The problem was finding the right people that are in need of my client’s services.

Using Clay  FETE framework. I was able to get this done and am proud to also score 93/100.

I used to be scared to learn something new, but in just one month I have graduated from Clay cohort and now the next step for me is to enroll for the AI Skills Cohort by Clay and get my hands more dirty with this tool.
