VOLUMES is a global innovation laboratory committed to supporting the emergence of local ecosystems for positive impact through research, consulting and training in the field of social innovation, circular economy, sustainable food and digital fabrication.

Started in 2015 as the first prototype of Creative and Productive Hub in Paris, Volumes has hosted some of the most vibrant communities of the Parisian social innovation scene and powered a number of initiatives that grew out into independent organizations, including one of the first Foodlab in Europe, a Makerspace, the Fab City Grand Paris initiative and the cooperative Oasis 21.

Volumes is involved in several research projects and runs a number of educational programs, while supporting and consulting different public and private organizations through Europe.

CivicWise

CivicWise is an international distributed and open network that promotes citizen engagement, developing concrete actions and projects based on collective intelligence, civic innovation and open design.

I co-founded CivicWise during a London residency to promote collaborative urbanism and civic
engagement with simultaneous international and local dimensions. The organisation's objective is to
facilitate knowledge exchange at a global level that promotes activities in local contexts, and it is
based on a model of distributed governance, where projects are developed locally by independent
local nodes.

Fairbnb.coop

A non extractive alternative to the current vacation rental platforms, that works to connect conscious travelers with fair hosts to promote stronger, more sustainable and equitable communities around the world.

I was in charge of coordinating the actions that will allow the fairbnb.coop alternative platform to operate in direct connection with the local communities, while respecting the right to housing and generating circular economy processes.

My work was focused on generating an innovative connection between the digital platform and the local communities including citizens, hosts and local administrations. One of my main responsibilities was the management of the team in charge of the relationship with the ambassadors and the local administrations.

The process has focused on experimenting spaces, tools and participatory methodologies that accommodate new dynamics within the entity. This approach has allowed to generate horizontal communication spaces where to find specific improvement fields, work on them and implement them through the collaboration of all the people close to the entity: internal staff, citizens, companies and collaborating entities.

Coordination of a master plan for the City of Guatemala's smart city strategy as the United Nations
Development Programme's (UNDP) international expert. To deliver this project I worked directly
with a range of actors from the municipal authority, technical experts, and politicians, to a series of
private and public entities.

Cercamia, a complementary and glocal currency platform for the promotion of collaborative processes for local communities connected at a global level.
My role in this startup was to foster the development of the community around the platform by promoting synergies and collaborations both locally and globally.

Civic Designer, Researcher, Consultant, Entrepreneur and Activist. I design and develop processes and tools to help local authorities, organizations, companies and universities to collaborate with citizens for the common good.

I am an international consultant on urban and regional policies with special focus on Citizen Urbanism and Civic Design processes.

I am a promoter of several spaces, networks, platforms and communities known for their capacity for innovation, civic transformation and development of alternative economic models. Among them are Volumes Lab in Paris, Factoría Cívica in Valencia, the platform Ciudades Comunes, the international network CivicWise, and the Escuela de Innovación Cívica.

I am driven by professional and entrepreneurial action with purpose, which is why I have also collaborated with projects such as Fairbnb.coop and Cercamia to move from theory to action and to transform consolidated social and economic practices towards fairer and more respectful models of local communities. 

I am the biggest global promoter of the practice of Civic Design, for this I often hold conferences, coordinate workshops and specialized courses, as well as edit publications and research among which the Whitepaper of the Civic Design Method stands out.

I teach in different universities in Europe and Latin America.

•Acted as liaison and enabled negotiation for program development in five new countries (Argentina, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, El Salvador and Costa Rica) after head’s first approach mission, wrote and negotiated agreements and expected accomplishments regarding technical cooperation (south-south). Broadened UN-HABITAT operations in the region increasing the regional office budget by 20%.
  
•Planned and organized the logistics of the urban agenda in over 50 regional and global summits, conferences and forums, among them: The 7th World Urban Forum, Smart Cities, UCLG World Summit for Local and Regional Leaders, MINURVI General Assembly, HABITAT 3 regional process.  Manage high-level reunions with Ministers, Presidents, Governors, Mayors and relevant stakeholders.

•	Identified, recruited and trained over 35 consultants for five different projects in the region mainly in México, Colombia, and Ecuador regarding institutional capacity building and training.

•	Conducted and reviewed trimester political analysis reports in over fifteen countries in Latin America and developed mapped overviews and timelines of political terms focused on the countries where UN-Habitat holds operations regarding the political environment in LAC to the HQ offices in Nairobi, Kenya for decision-making matters.

Successfully coordinated the regional project “Initiative of Prosperous Cities for the Future" operated in five different cities of the Latin American region simultaneously.  Consolidating and leading a team of twelve consultants, systematizing their work all along the process from data collection,  data analysis, develop econometric studies to develop action plans regarding public policy recommendations to the five cities.

•	Developed a funding strategy for prospective donors based on the institutional scope for quality of life in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara, involving civil society, private sector and academia.

•	Liaised and established ties with relevant stakeholders within local and regional networks like: Tómala, Red Mexicana por Ciudades Justas, Democraticas y Sustentables (RedMX and RedLA International), Red por la Rendición de Cuentas (RRC),Acción por Ciudadana Frente a la Pobreza. 

•	Systematized the results of the 2012 perception survey and report launching to the to relevant stakeholders and donors in the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area.

•	Helped to generate the conceptualization of the Urban Prosperity wheel under the UN-Habitat prosperity approach.
•	Helped in the design and the first conceptualization of the methodology of the “Wheel of Prosperity” shaped by the definition of all urban functions as subsumed in six main axes: Quality of life, infrastructure, productivity, Social Equity and Inclusion Environmental Sustainability and Governance and Legislation.
•	Support and facilitate solutions to the drafting resolution chair, the 23rd edition of the Governing Council.
