My work is collaborative, I have to interact with enterprise architects and solution architects across IT domains to build my patterns. As someone with over two decades in IT, I've seen a few technology cycles. 
The race to AI feels familiar, but with a fascinating and dangerous twist.

We're all rushing to be "AI-powered," but in our haste, we're creating a massive new wave of technical debt. 
It's not just messy code; it's deeper:

Data Debt: Rushing to train on ungoverned, unvetted data.
Model Debt: Building critical features on black-box APIs we don't own and can't control.
Prompt Debt: Hard-coding "magic prompts" that will inevitably break with the next model update.

But here's the paradox that I discuss with my teams: AI is also the most powerful "debt collector" we've ever had for our old technical debt.
Used wisely, AI can refactor legacy code, identify security holes, and untangle complex systems that a human team would need months to audit.

This creates the central challenge for CTOs today. 
It's not just, "How fast can we deploy AI?"

It's, "How do we use AI to clean our house, instead of just setting it on fire?"

The real win isn't bolting on a feature. 
It's building a sustainable, AI-ready foundation. 

The winners won't be the fastest; they'll be the ones who last.
