Manuel Ogomigo

In March 2024, I quit my UX job and launched Flowdrive, a file and video hosting product for Webflow users.

A few months in, things looked great.
Traffic was growing fast. Agencies were signing up. It felt like I was finally figuring it out.

Then in August 2024, I made the biggest mistake of my career.
I pushed an update to production without realizing it would affect hosted content.

 Every customer’s file was deleted.
There were no backups.
 No recovery plan.

Some files were restored. Most were gone.

I had to publicly admit what happened and ask customers to re-upload their assets. I fully expected everyone to leave.

Some did. There were angry emails and chargebacks, and I deserved that.
But something unexpected happened.

Many customers replied with:

“It happens. Fix it.”
“Thanks for being honest.”
“We all make mistakes.”

They re-uploaded their files.
They stayed. 🥹

That moment reshaped how I think about building products.
People don’t expect perfection.

They expect ownership.
From that day on, I rebuilt Flowdrive with reliability as the priority:
 • Multiple independent backup systems
 • Isolated testing and production environments
 • Safeguards to prevent this from ever happening again

Today, Flowdrive has served 228M+ requests and saved 324TB of bandwidth for teams worldwide in 2025. 

Agencies powering ElevenLabs, ChiliPiper, Lindy AI, Monad, etc

It’s still a small, scrappy product, built by a team led by the person who once deleted everything.

And I think about that day every single time I push an update.

Onboarding mistake I made for too long:
Assuming users would “figure it out.”

My data showed:
Signups ≠ usage
 Usage ≠ upgrades

Now onboarding does one thing:
Get users to experience value in the first session.
If they don’t feel the win, nothing else matters.

Day 01

A tiny onboarding change gave me instant clarity.

I forced every Flowdrive user - old and new - to answer one question when they logged in.

The pattern showed up immediately.
People aren’t here to “manage assets.”

They’re here because their sites have traffic, they host videos, and bandwidth is starting to hurt.

So this month, Flowdrive is focused on one user only:
"high-traffic sites that want video hosting without bandwidth fear."
