I made some significant life changes in 2025 and wanted to share some thoughts for those of you who kicked on 2026 with new year's resolutions.

Plank was my gateway drug. Throughout 2025, I worked my way up to working out 5 time per week. I started in April, not January (less pressure) and I started really small. Just a plank, 60 seconds, every single day. What I noticed that once I did the plank, I was like "Well, I have a matt out already, why not do a few stretches." One thing tends to lead to another and 40 minutes later I have done a full pilates, weights and mobility set. I also found the time that worked for me. I typically failed to find the time during the day even for a plank, but at some point in the evening you just can't procrastinate anymore - through this I actually realised that 8-9pm is my best time to exercise. I cannot emphasize just how much better I feel now.

Tennis became my temple. In the end of 2024 I signed up for an annual tennis club membership (in my area that's somehow waaaaaaaay cheaper than even the worst gym). I only started using it in the spring of 2025. The regular practice of tennis completely changed me. I realised that this is what I have always missed out in my life - an intellectually stimulating way to actively meditate. There is just no way you can think about lowering your CAC and building a new feature when you're in a fast paced doubles game. I became much more grounded and also got most of my best business ideas while walking back from a game - I recommend something to disconnect like this to any founder to radically increase your creativity and problem solving.

Gifted apple cider vinegar rebooted my gut. My cofounder gifted me a bottle of apple cider vinegar made by their dad. I never liked vinegar of any kind, but given it was already in the house, and I knew it to be healthy, I started using it regularly for salads. Just like the plank, it started a process. All of a sudden I started enjoying salads way more, then started craving other fermented goods like kimchi and kefir. Fast forward to today, barely a year out, and I have completely reset my gut microbiome and eat much healthier than I ever did. Alcohol also lost its flavour and I now barely drink.

A nice side effect of all of this is that my autoimmune disease, which has only been progressing for the last 11 years (vitiligo), has not only stopped spreading as aggressively, but also actually started reversing as I regained 50%+ pigmentation on my most affected areas.

I am sharing this as I see lots of people setting super ambitious new year targets, to which they are probably not going to stick. Just know you can restart your upgrade at any other point of the year, and even if you start very small, if you start with the right small things that impact your exercise, stress management and nutrition, you are very likely to succeed.

I’ve spent years saying influencer marketing is overrated.
Expensive.
Impossible to measure properly.
A time sink dressed up as “brand”.

Frankly, I thought it was mostly a way for founders to feel busy while numbers went sideways.
Then I listened to a podcast with Gamma’s founder Grant Lee.
Influencer marketing wasn’t a side channel for them — it was the growth engine.
Not vibes. A system.

So we ran an experiment anyway. Fully expecting to prove myself right.
We partnered with TapLab and just wrapped our first campaign.

Here’s what surprised me (and what didn’t).

What changed my mind:
On posting days, free trial starts went completely off the charts. Real spikes, not noise.
Remarketing worked better than expected. Ads reactivated users who had already tried us and quietly disappeared after free trial.
Comments turned out to be the secret weapon. Existing users jumped in under the videos and sold the product better than we ever could.
The videos upgraded our website overnight. Human faces beat polished landing pages every time.
We’re recycling the content into paid ads. Early days, but cautiously optimistic.
Watching influencers pitch the product was humbling. They understood the tone of voice in our space better than we did.
Influencers gave us room for story. Performance ads just don’t.
And operationally? Easier than expected — because we were ruthless about choosing the right agency and outsourced the chaos.

Where my scepticism still stands:
Influencer marketing is expensive. You pay upfront, blind, and hope.
Most reach is fake. We reached ~10x our actual SQE market. Vanity metrics are lying to you.
It’s still a black box. Attribution is messy at best. That said, we nearly doubled the number of people saying they “found us via social”.

My takeaway:
Influencer marketing isn’t a performance channel.
It’s a belief-changing channel.
If you expect clean CAC maths, you’ll hate it.
 If you use it to change narratives, unlock social proof, and feed other channels — it can work frighteningly well.
