- Judgment.
- Ethics.
- Context.
- Meaning.

𝗣𝗛𝗔𝗦𝗘 𝟯 — 𝗧𝗢𝗚𝗘𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗬 𝗪𝗜𝗡

You bring the “why.”
AI brings the “how.”
That combo is unstoppable.

But most people still fall into the same traps:

𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘀:

- Thinking “busy” equals “valuable.”

- Hiding behind process instead of insight.

- Treating AI like a threat instead of a tool.

- Waiting for permission to level up.

The tide is going out fast.
Some will be caught exposed.
Others will rise, faster than ever.

The real question isn’t “Will AI take my job?”

Most enterprises don’t fail with AI because the models are bad.
They fail because they expect one model to magically fit every problem.

I recently met a CIO who proudly announced, “𝗪𝗲’𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗟𝗟𝗠 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆.”

𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻:
• The legal team said it was too “creative.”
• The analytics team said it was too “dumb.”
• The product team said it was too “slow.”

𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹. 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀.
The problem wasn’t the LLM,  it was the assumption that one model could be everything, everywhere, all at once.


𝗘𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝗜 ≠ 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗟𝗟𝗠.
Enterprise AI = choosing the right model, right context for the right use case.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀:
1️⃣ Foundation: broad LLMs for general reasoning.
2️⃣ Domain: specialized models tuned for your industry.
3️⃣ Task: lightweight models optimized for specific workflows.
4️⃣ Guardrails: policy, evaluation, and monitoring to keep everything aligned.

It’s a model ecosystem, not a monolith.

If your AI strategy starts with “𝗪𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗟𝗟𝗠 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗼𝗻?”
You’ve already limited what your business can become.

Start with use cases, constraints, and context. Let the architecture follow.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗼𝗻𝗲-𝘀𝗶𝘇𝗲-𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀-𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹?

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁.

Most teams think all data is useful. That’s not true.

Acting on the wrong data at the wrong time can do more harm than having no data at all.

Wisdom is not about collecting more numbers.

It’s about knowing what to ignore.

𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗮𝘄, 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲, 𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲.

• Their AI models underperform.
• Their dashboards mislead.
• The tool is not the problem.
• It’s the quality of the data.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿:

1. 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘅𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗵. Raw data is like a green banana. Not ready to eat. It needs context and refinement.

2. 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘆𝘀. Insights have a shelf life. What worked last month can mislead you today.

3. 𝗥𝗶𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀. Good decisions use data that is timely, complete, and well understood.

4. 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘆. Many teams are drowning in data lakes but starving for insight.

If you use every data point you can find, you become data-bloated.

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱, 𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝘀:

1. Define what makes data ripe. Is it timely? Complete? Verified by a trusted source?

2. Build a discard culture. Teach teams to ignore data that is not ready.

3. Create ripening processes. Add governance, context, and checks so data is actionable.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗮.

It’s to pick the right one at the right time.

𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗱𝗼.

A few years back, I sat in a crowded conference room. A senior executive stood up and said, “We’re now a data driven organisation.”

Heads nodded. People looked inspired. My colleague leaned over and said, “Brace yourself-the dashboards are coming.”

He was right.

Soon, the dashboards arrived. Charts, KPIs, heatmaps. All bright and polished. None of it changed how decisions were made.

𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿.

This is what I call the dashboard delusion.

Data looks powerful. But it is always partial. Always biased. Always looking backward.

When leaders let dashboards call the shots, they don’t lower risk. They multiply it.

It’s like driving with eyes fixed on the rearview mirror. You see the road behind, but miss what’s ahead.

There is a better way.

𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲. 𝗝𝘂𝗱𝗴𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻.

Data driven means “the numbers told us to.” Data informed means “the numbers helped us see, and we made the call.”

Aristotle called it the golden mean. Not reckless guessing. Not blind trust in numbers.

𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁-𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗿𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵.

Dashboards can show you where you’ve been. Only judgment helps you choose where to go next.

If you want real intelligence in your company, ask better questions. What does this metric mean? What could it be hiding? Where does human judgment matter most?

The moment you stop letting numbers drive and start letting judgment steer, “data driven” stops sounding smart-and starts sounding dangerous.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀, 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁. 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝗶𝘁.

Most teams chase bigger models and longer prompts.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵? 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Context is not a feature. It’s the product.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗜 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘁:

1️⃣ 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. I pick what matters, chunk it down, and format it for clarity.

2️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴. I shape the prompt, give the agent memory, and set clear instructions.

3️⃣ 𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. I let the AI adjust in real time using tools, policies, and grounding.

𝗜 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴.

- You write down the key decisions. You clear space in your head.

- You focus on what’s next, but you never lose track of what matters.

𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹.

- More tokens do not mean better answers.

- Retrieval is not lookup. It is reasoning.

- When the signal gets lost, output collapses.

- The future is not prompt engineering alone.

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲.

- AI is only as good as the ecosystem of inputs you build around it.

- Set your budget, risk limits, and compliance rules before you start.

- Most AI chaos comes from fuzzy boundaries.

- No clear rules, no clear results.

AI fails when leaders can’t agree on what “good” looks like.

𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝗼.

I once joined a project where the AI team told me, “𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮’𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆.”

Three weeks later, half the models were hallucinating.

The other half waited for “better data” that never came.

“Ready” only meant the data existed somewhere.

Not that it was structured, governed, or trusted.

That was the gap.

𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻’𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗼𝘀.

No matter how advanced the model, if your data is not clear and reliable, the results will misfire or stall.

The most successful AI teams do something different.

- They treat governance as the foundation, not a barrier.

- Good governance gives clarity, accountability, and speed.

With it, you get real value, not just numbers. I’ve seen companies waste months chasing “AI-ready” dreams.

But the teams that win start with the basics.

Build trust in your data first.

Everything else gets easier.

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗲𝘁𝗹𝘆 — 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗳𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝘆. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴.

Everyone keeps hunting for the “mystery reason” their data team can’t deliver.

There is no mystery. The signals are screaming.

The problem is knowing *which* signals matter.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝘆 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀? 𝗠𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂.

I see the same mistake repeat across companies.

- They chase the latest tools.

- They build proofs of concept.

- They stack up licenses and dashboards.

But the winners do something else.

They start with a clear strategy-and stick to it.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗺𝘆 𝟱-𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗯𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲:

1. 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗔𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. No side projects. Every use case must move the needle.

2. 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Good AI runs on good data. Fix your data quality before chasing models.

3. 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗰𝗸. Don’t buy what’s shiny. Pick what fits your team and your goals.

4. 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽 𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀-𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘀. AI is not just for data scientists. Train business and tech teams together.

5. 𝗘𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲. Set the guardrails early. Make transparency and ethics part of the process.

I’ve seen this in Enterprises. Dependencies everywhere. Docs and tools that promise change but only add noise.

𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲.

- “But now we have AI,” you’ll say.

- Truth? We had AI before. It didn’t solve the core problem then, either.

- Technology is powerful. But it only multiplies what’s already there.

→ Cut the meetings you don’t need.
→ Keep agendas sharp and decisions fast.
→ Use tech to speed up, not add noise.

3️⃣ 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿.

→ Most orgs don’t have usable data.
→ It’s scattered-SharePoints, laptops, hard copies.
→ Start cleaning now. AI is useless without it.

4️⃣ 𝗠𝗮𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀.

→ Excel hides more than it solves.
→ Who uses it? How? Why?
→ Replace only after you understand the flow.

𝗗𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. 𝗔𝗜 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝘀.

But I see the real problem every day.

Sales and Finance pull different “revenue” numbers.

Operations trusts none of it.

So teams build another dashboard.

Dashboards don’t create trust. Clear definitions do.

You don’t need more dashboards.

How are you building trust in your data?

𝗠𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗜 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳𝗳. 𝗠𝘆 𝟯-𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿.

I see many companies launch AI pilots with high hopes. They want quick wins, but end up with stalled projects and little impact. The difference between those stuck in “pilot mode” and those driving real ROI? It’s not more tools or bigger budgets. It’s a simple, focused approach that 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲-𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁:

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟭: Start with a clear AI vision that ties to your 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹𝘀. Don’t chase tech for tech’s sake. Anchor every initiative to what matters for your company. I listen to both leadership and front-line teams. The best ideas often come from the people closest to the problems. Organize your efforts by strategic domains-like customer journey or claims-so you can build on each win, not just chase random use cases.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟮: Ruthlessly prioritize. I use a simple matrix: Value × Actionability × Feasibility. 𝗔𝘀𝗸: Will this move the needle for customers or employees? Can we deliver value fast? Is the data ready? I see contact center AI-like virtual agents-score high here. They solve real pain, are quick to launch, and show results you can measure.

𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝟯: Measure what matters, from day one. Don’t wait until after launch. Track five areas: model quality, system health, user adoption, operational impact, and business impact. Set baselines before you build. Make these metrics visible to both execs and product teams. This keeps everyone honest and focused on results that count.

Most AI pilots fail because they chase hype, pick the wrong problems, or measure only the tech-not the business. The companies winning with AI treat it as a business strategy, not a side project. Vision, prioritization, and disciplined measurement make all the difference.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜 𝗽𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲?

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗔𝗜 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲? 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘀. 𝗪𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘅 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗻𝗲.

I’ve learned this lesson the hard way.

Progress stalls when data and AI leaders are separated from the engineers building the systems.

- Projects burn budget, but impact stays fuzzy.

- Teams train on LLMs, but real intuition comes from shipping at scale.

𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿, 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲.

- Small teams. One clear KPI. Direct Slack or Teams channel.

- Blockers get removed in hours, not quarters.

- This isn’t a nice-to-have-it’s the operating system for enterprise AI.

𝗣𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘁𝘀 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲.

- Confidently wrong responses kill adoption fast.

- You need technology that knows when it’s unsure.

- Systems that let users steer in real time.

- Corrections that feed back and make the AI smarter for your business.

- Generic models don’t know your workflows, edge cases, or risk posture.

Ran the show for StudentFinance’s new product, Mydra (no, not Hydra). It’s a tool for companies that want to look fancy by teaching their employees new skills. My job? Figuring out what people actually wanted (not what the execs thought they wanted), making our messages sound like we’d read their minds, and working with every team under the sun to make sure people actually signed up—and stuck around. Basically, I was the hype person, and the reality check all in one.

Decipad

Dug into user research to whip up messages that didn’t sound like a lecture (and somehow got 150% more people to join early). I made everything from webinars to blog posts, turning boring data into something people actually wanted to read. Worked with everyone from designers to developers, because in tech, “team effort” usually means everyone has a different opinion and I’m somehow the referee.

Goodwall

Planned big launches and partnerships, basically convincing new users that Goodwall was their best new friend (not just another app they’d ignore after five minutes). Helped the Head of Marketing make our messaging sound more like “we’re here to help” and less like “buy this, please!” We wanted to stand out without sounding desperate—a tough line in marketing.

Put together a social media game plan for IE University that boosted followers by 50,000 in under a month (yeah, people actually cared). For Inditex, I gave their Careers page a makeover after realizing it needed to stop looking like a dull bulletin board. The result? A 35% jump in job applications in just three months. Turns out, people like to know there’s more to a career page than stock photos and buzzwords.

Ran IE University’s social channels, turning “blah” into “bravo.” I made sure all our online platforms actually talked to each other, which somehow doesn’t happen automatically. Launched the “Driving Innovation” campaign, which upped our leads by 40% in two months—because people finally noticed us. In short, my team took their online presence from snooze-fest to scroll-stopping.

The fastest way to get a seat at the table is to host the dinner.
Which is exactly why Eleanor and I started Sobremesa(tech). 

We wanted to recreate what we loved about university, sitting around discussing ideas with a professor who actually knows their shit.

Last night was our best one yet.

For the first time ever, we had more women than men at the table. In a dinner where the topic was AI Warfare. Which shouldn't be noteworthy but let's be honest... most AI events look like a Stanford CS reunion from 2009. 🥴

Dr Ibrahim Marashi came through. This is the guy whose PhD the British government plagiarised into their 2003 "dodgy dossier" to justify invading Iraq.

He's been watching people weaponize information for 20 years. Now he gets to watch AI do it in 4K.

We talked about AI warfare for two hours and nobody checked their phone once.

Some moments that are still rattling around:

👉 When an algorithm pulls the trigger faster than any human can intervene, who goes to trial? 

Someone said drones already created distance from killing, so what's really different? Then someone else said "the difference is we're now automating away the last human who could say no."

Absolute silence after that one.

Here's what I love about these dinners: nobody performed.

One person literally said "I came here thinking I had answers and now I just have better questions."

And that's exactly the vibe...

If you've been to other tech events lately, you know they're usually 90% pitch disguised as 10% conversation. 

Sobremesa is the opposite. 

20 people saying what they really think, disagreeing respectfully, and leaving with their brain slightly rewired.

And watching brilliant people hide behind corporate-talk? That got old fast.

So I took the leap. Went solo. Started helping teams say what they actually think instead of what they think they're "supposed" to say.

Turns out, authenticity is shockingly good for business.

I've already had the chance to work with teams at Zapier, IBM, Chili Piper. And every single time, the breakthrough is the same: someone finally stops filtering themselves and realizes their real voice is exactly what people have been waiting to hear.

Your voice isn't powerful because it's perfect. 
It's powerful because it's actually yours.

Good content is just conversation you want to be part of.

Your audience decides in 3 seconds if you're worth their time.

Same as meeting someone at a party. Same as a first date. Same as any conversation that matters.

Had a discovery call this morning. The founder said: "Lots of people waffle. You don't. I like a really high bit rate."

Founders are brutal editors. They have to be. When you're juggling product, fundraising, hiring, and survival, you learn to cut the fluff fast.

Everyone else is still writing like they have all day.  😴

Marketing teams add three paragraphs of context. Consultants hedge with disclaimers. Agencies bury insights under process explanations...

But you can't teach clarity through complexity.

My favorite quote is: "I apologize for the length of this letter, I didn't have time to make it shorter."

Short takes work. Concise takes skill.

When I'm on calls, I ask the hard questions in the first 5 minutes.

Every extra word is a test. Every hedge signals you don't believe what you're saying. Every "just my two cents" tells people you're unsure.

The best founders already know this, because they built companies by making fast decisions with incomplete information.

The rest of us need to learn it.

I spent Monday evening sat in a room with managers from Santander, IBM and Electrolux Group learning something I should have figured out years ago: the voice in my head that says "be practical" is just fear in a suit.

Fernando Gutiérrez-Benjumea, the coach who trains F1 drivers and C-suite executives to perform under impossible pressure, spent 2 hours teaching us how to reprogram the mental patterns that quietly sabotage our best work.

We dissected limiting beliefs, the ones that sound like wisdom but are really just sophisticated excuses. Learned how to control emotions when the stakes are suffocating. Discussed the mythical art of actually 'disconnecting'...

If you can't tell the difference between AI and human work, does it even matter?

Musicians are panicking. Developers are "optimizing."

One industry is demanding labels, transparency, and fair compensation as AI floods their market. The other is convinced their skillset makes them immune to the same fate.

Spoiler: pattern recognition doesn't care about your ego.

The Deezer study is a mirror. When 97% of people fail a simple authenticity test, we're not dealing with a detection problem. We're dealing with an indifference problem.

Musicians see 50,000 AI tracks uploading daily and understand the endgame: a market so saturated with "good enough" that human craft becomes economically irrelevant.

Developers see the same tools and think: "But I'm supervising the AI."

Are you though? Or are you just vibing through code reviews the same way Spotify listeners vibe through playlists... trusting the algorithm delivered something acceptable?

The real question isn't whether AI can fool us. It already does.

The question is what happens when nobody cares that they've been fooled?

I get paid to argue with these guys on Meet. And it's the best gig ever.

For 6 months, I've been creating content for Vibes DIY with Marcus Estes and K. Mike Merrill. Our Tuesday meetings are the highlight of my week, and I'm not even embarrassed to admit that anymore.

Meet Marcus: Co-founder with "almost manic energy" who shows up to every call mid-rant about Reddit drama and genuinely believes we should all have stronger opinions about vibecoding.

Meet Mike: The world's first publicly traded person (1.5K+ shareholders vote on his life decisions) who also runs a podcast called "Hamburger Business Review" because of course he does.

Most client work makes you feel like a machine. This work makes me feel alive.

Marcus shows up with unhinged takes. 
Mike shows up trying to build a system around Marcus's chaos. 
I show up knowing I'll leave with better ideas than I came with, not because they fixed my thinking, but because they trusted it enough to build on it.

Here's what I've learned about doing work that matters:

You can't create anything real when you're afraid of looking stupid. And I'm never afraid of looking stupid with them.

We don't go through status updates. We think out loud. I can say "I don't know what the angle is here" and Marcus will pull some B-minus take out of thin air that becomes our best-performing video. Mike will figure out how to turn our mess into something we can ship by Thursday.

This is what it feels like when people trust you enough to see your messy process.

When I started freelancing, I thought the dream was working alone. No bosses, no politics, no meetings. But the dream is finding people who make you want to show up. Who remind you why you loved this work in the first place.

The channel keeps growing but honestly, I'd do this for free. Because for the first time in ages, I wake up excited about work. Not because of what we're building, but because of who I'm building it with.

If you find people who make you feel this way, don't let go. 
That feeling is rarer than you think.

I think this pixar version of them really captures their energy

There's a developer who tests every new AI model by asking it to draw a pelican riding a bicycle.

I'm not joking.

Google drops Gemini 3? Pelican on a bicycle. A
nthropic releases Claude? Pelican on a bicycle. 
OpenAI updates GPT? You know what's coming.

And somehow this ridiculous test tells you more about AI capabilities than any benchmark Google publishes.

Why? Because unlike GPQA Diamond (which Gemini mysteriously aces at 91.9%), you can't train for pelicans on bicycles. The AI either understands spatial reasoning, anatomy, and basic physics, or your pelican ends up with wheels for feet.

This is what happens when everyone realizes AI benchmarks are just SAT scores for robots. The companies grade their own homework, optimize for the test, then act shocked when their models can't do actual work.

So the nerds went rogue. Started making personal benchmarks for shit that actually matters.

Maybe we should all have a pelican test. Something weird, specific, and impossible to game.

What's yours?

The people demanding 7-day work weeks are usually the least effective builders in the room.

The are tons of jobs looking for someone who works non stop and "thrives without hand holding" and "doesn't need a playbook."

You know what experienced builders actually have?
→ Pattern recognition that saves months of mistakes
→ Networks that open doors with a single call
→ Judgment to know what NOT to build

And you don't GET that by working 7 days a week.

You get it by having a LIFE that teaches you how humans actually work.
By being a parent who learned to prioritize.
By maintaining relationships that taught you how to communicate under pressure.
By failing at things outside of work that gave you resilience and perspective.

If you need someone to work 7 days a week to hit your goals, you're not a great founder, you're a bad planner with an inefficient operation.

Yes, "Work" means wildly different things to different people.

Some founders are genuinely obsessed. They LOVE what they're building. Their "work" is lying on the couch thinking about product strategy. Taking a walk and solving architecture problems.

To them, that's not work, it's flow state. It's what they'd do anyway.

Those people will say they work "100 hours a week" but what they mean is: "I think about this constantly, and 40 of those hours are in meetings or actually producing."

That's completely different from demanding an EMPLOYEE work 7 traditional days.

Because employees (reasonably) define work as active production time or meetings. Everything else is a break.

So when a job posting says "minimum 6 days, usually 7", they're not asking for someone who thinks about work in the shower.

They're asking someone to sacrifice their actual time, energy, and presence.
And that's where it falls apart.

You can build billion-dollar companies without demanding people sacrifice their health and sanity. We've seen it dozens of times.

The 7-day work week isn't a sign of ambition. It's a sign of romanticizing suffering.

So tell me I'm soft. Tell me I "don't get startups."

But ask yourself: Would you rather hire someone who works 7 days and makes exhausted decisions, or someone who works 5 days and has the mental space to see around corners?

If you have to think about that answer, you're the problem this post is about.

Criminals just used AI to replace entire hacking teams. 

They used Claude to attack 30 major companies at once. 

These hackers had to trick and jailbreak Claude to get it to help them. You don't. You have the same tool, designed to say yes to whatever you ask.

So what's your excuse? 

Every day you spend doing tasks manually that AI could orchestrate is a day someone else is figuring out how to 10x their output while you're still trading hours for work.

The gap between "I wish I could build this" and "I built this" just disappeared.
