How I Got Here (the short version)

I bootstrapped my first studio, building gamified products, then drove it into the ground through sheer hustle and zero alignment. The resulting burnout forced a hard reset: work had to become a path to enlightenment, not a treadmill.

That quest led me to cooperative ownership at Camplight, where we build tech the same way we live—collaboratively, transparently, and with skin in the game. I’ve since:

> Led multiple 7‑figure digital‑transformation programs in FinTech, EduTech & HealthTech.

> Embedded AI/ML solutions that quietly power nine‑digit revenues.

> Mentored dozens of product squads, turning chaotic sprints into enlightened shipping rituals.

80%+ of your lead time is just… waiting.

Last week Steve Pereira (the creator of Flow Engineering) spoke at CoTransition Community. 45 minutes of presentation. Almost another hour of Q&A. It turned into a masterclass.

Writing code is not hard.
Writing the RIGHT code - that's hard. But lines of code? Anyone can produce those. AI can produce mountains of them.

The real bottlenecks are upstream and downstream:

💡  Upstream - taking an idea, validating it, shaping it into something actionable. Making sure it's atomic and loosely coupled so you don't have to coordinate across 15 teams.
🔍  Downstream - proving the work is correct. Validating it delivers real value. Making sure it doesn't break what's already there.

If you're accelerating developers to write more code while your constraint is somewhere else entirely, you're not improving anything. You're piling more work in front of the real bottleneck. You're making the problem worse.

And it can as well compound - an example would be that when someone hits a roadblock, they don't sit around. They start something new (or they interrupt a colleague to make progress). That new thing also needs coordination. It also hits the same bottleneck! Now you have more things in progress, more context-switching, more overhead. The focus should have been on removing the constraint itself.

AI has the potential to make this dramatically worse. Accelerate upstream without accelerating downstream and work just piles up. More code waiting for fewer reviewers. More features waiting for the same limited testing capacity.

More output. Same throughput.

"Do you believe in 10x productivity with #AI?"
Steve answer: "You can have 10x, 100x, 1000x - if you measure output. I can write a script that generates garbage right now without AI. The real question is: how hindered is a person from doing their best work?"

You don't need a new tool to fix this. You need visibility.
