Born and raised in Russia, I started working at 13—packing parachutes and skydiving. 🪂
By 18, I had 800+ jumps and enough saved to pay for my first year of college.

Jumping out of planes redefined my relationship with fear.
Once you commit, you act. Without hesitation.

I learned English in one year to study abroad—still the hardest thing I’ve done.
That brought me to Canada, where I earned a degree in Chemical Engineering.

I never used it.

My side projects opened doors for me—first to Deloitte, then to eBay.
But the real work happened outside the job.

I made time to build:
9–5 for the paycheck,
5–9 (both morning and night) for what I actually cared about.

That’s where I proved to myself—nothing is impossible.

In 2021, I met my cofounder. We went all-in and started building Stan.

We went from $5M in the bank to under $1M in two years.

On purpose.

Every entrepreneur needs to get extremely comfortable with losing money.

For us, the lesson came after raising venture capital.

We made an uncompromising commitment to hire the top 1% and build a category-defining brand.

This meant watching our bank account shrink over a year and a half.

I still remember the day I pinged John: 

V: "Guess what - we're at $827K and didn't lose any cash this month!" 
J: "Years in the making. Upwards from here."

It takes a lot of belief and conviction to invest this way, as opposed to optimizing for safety.

The reality is, for you to have a disproportionate upside, you need to create disproportional value.

And that's expensive: technology, R&D, talent. 
80% of our costs were purely talent.

Losing money before you make money is the price of being in the game.

Having done it once, I have a lot more appreciation for the process. 
And significantly fewer worries.

I’m having a wonderful time at BrainStation tonight!

I waited 3 years for a top 1% mobile engineer.

Not because we couldn’t hire.

Because I refused to hire a “maybe” and call it progress.

For 3 years, we could’ve “just shipped something” on mobile. 

We passed on several candidates who were good on paper… but weren’t a clear yes.

I kept coming back to one filter:
If this person can’t take what we built and make it 10x better, they’re not going to change the company.

So we waited.

Then we met Johan.

He built the entire mobile app solo.

When we launched, we got 500 five-star reviews in 2 weeks.

That’s the part people see.

What they don’t see is what we avoided: months of “management work” disguised as building—

Rewriting specs, re-scoping tickets, adding layers of process so a hire can keep up.

That’s how teams get slow. 

Not from lack of effort—standards quietly dropping.

Lesson I keep relearning: talent density isn’t a vibe. It’s a strategy.

Where in your org are you accepting a “maybe” (role, project, decision) just to feel progress?

Yesterday, NVIDIA’s Jensen Huang made it free for any company to build AI agents. Here’s what that actually means:

He announced NemoClaw — the enterprise version of OpenClaw, the open-source operating system for AI agents.

He also named what’s coming: ASAAS. Agentic Software As A Service. OpenClaw won’t kill SaaS — it’ll create a new category.

The “A” in ASAAS is the hard part.

At Stan, we’ve been working on AI agents for over a year. The technology was never the bottleneck. Teaching the AI what “good” looks like in your business — that was the bottleneck.

NVIDIA just commoditized the easy part. The hard part is still hard.

The companies winning at ASAAS in 2027 won’t be the ones with the best plumbing.

They’ll be the ones who spent 2025-2026 doing the boring work of encoding domain expertise into their agents.

What was the first thing your company successfully taught AI? (or planning to?)

⚠️ ⚠️ If you're an engineer, now is the worst time to quit your job.

I know. Everyone's saying the opposite.

AI makes it so easy to build. Ship an app in a weekend. Be your own founder.

But here's what the "go build your own thing" crowd isn't thinking about:

Yes, you'll see success stories. 

But for every one that works, there are hundreds who shipped the same weekend. 

The barrier to entry dropped for everyone at the same time. 

More builders, more competition, lower odds for all of them.

And the question is still the same question it's always been: who has distribution?

Distribution, customer trust, brand — these are built over years of compounding. 

They live in the human relationship world that AI hasn't touched. 

Companies hold that. Your side project doesn't.

Sure, your app might launch well. 

Maybe you make a few thousand dollars. 

Then it gets duplicated by your friend over the weekend, and you're left without the job and without the revenue.

If you've been thinking about going out on your own — do it. 

Just not right now.

Don't be impulsive in the middle of a revolution.

"I'm sorry, I f*cked up" 

This was my opening line at our leadership offsite last March.

Standing in front of all 8 leaders at Stan, 

everyone paid attention.

If I was to rate my relationship with everyone in the room, 

these would be my scores:

6 months earlier...

I took on 2x more responsibilities at the company. 

As a result of this crushing workload, I had to prioritize and remove everything that wasn't mission critical.

One of the things I sacrificed was weekly 1:1s with my direct reports,

delegating them to my Chiefs of Staff.

I reasoned that most people I'd been working with for years and we'd manage.

What a mistake it was.

What I failed to see at the time was that the company ran on shared context established in those 1:1s.

Leadership runs on two things:
• Trust
• Shared context

Remove either one, and it's a matter of time before everything breaks.

That's what happened to me.

It took me the following 1-3 months to rebuild what I'd lost — to rebuild the relationships and rescope my work.

Some scars are still itching.

If you're a leader at your busiest time, I'm sharing this story to remind you:

Your company is a group of people working toward a shared objective.

Prioritize people so they can prioritize the shared objective. 

It doesn’t work the other way around.

Well — direction.

Motion without direction is just expensive wandering.

To help with that, I've adopted this habit:

Every morning, before opening Slack, I ask myself:

"What would I do if I could only work 2 hours today?"

"What moves us closer to $100M ARR?"

"Is this urgent, or just loud?"

I'm serious - I tend to ignore 8/10 of the inbound I get, (even from my teams).

5 minutes of thinking saves 5 hours of wandering.

Now when I journal, it's not about what I did.

It's about whether what I did actually mattered.

Most founders act too much and think too little.

We confuse being busy with being productive.

The best talent I've hired all share this trait:
They pause before they sprint.

What would you stop doing if you could only work 2 hours?

Price isn't just revenue. 
It's a filter.

For customers. 
And for your team.

Early at Stan, we picked $29/month. 

No deep methodology. We just wanted to feel premium.

Then we had to live up to it.

That meant obsessing over the first 100 customers. 

Fixing bugs on the call. 
Shipping overnight.

Pricing sets expectations. 
Expectations force standards. 

And standards attract a certain type of person.

Builders lean into hard problems. 

Bargain hunters lean into discounts and exceptions.

Same principle applies to talent.

Last month, I ran a hackathon with a $20,000 grand prize. 

It got the top 1% of builders out of the house.

4 hires. 2 days. No resumes.

We don't price based on cost. 
We price based on value.

What's one thing you'd price differently today?

Headcount doesn't fix slow execution. 

Clarity does.

When execution slows, the reflex is: 
"We need to hire."

Most of the time, you don't have a people problem. 

You have a clarity problem.

Here's what I did:

I used to take meetings all day. Felt productive. Wasn't.

Now I auto-decline everything before lunch. 

7 hours of deep work. Zero interruptions.

One calendar rule deleted dozens of daily decisions.

Speed is subtraction.

List your recurring weekly decisions. 
For each one, choose:

→ Delete it. 
→ Delegate it. 
→ Automate it. 
→ Assign a DRI (directly responsible individual).

We used to debate tool purchases in Slack. 

Now everyone gets a $5K card. Decision deleted 🤷‍♂️

Less flexibility upfront. 
More speed downstream.

What decision could you delete this week?

In 1846, astronomers had a problem.

Uranus was wobbling in space.
And nobody could explain why.

Every calculation said it should move one way.
But it moved another.

Most scientists thought Newton's laws were breaking down at that distance.

But Urbain Le Verrier, a French mathematician, had a different idea:
"What if there's another planet pulling on it?"

He spent months calculating where this invisible planet would need to be.

Then wrote to Berlin Observatory:
"Point your telescope here. You'll find a new planet."

They thought he lost it...
But they looked 🔭

Neptune was sitting there.
Exactly where the math said it would be.

Le Verrier discovered a planet using only pencil and paper.
2.7 billion miles away.

I think about this whenever we're stuck at Stan.

When something doesn't make sense, we work backwards.
There's always a hidden force.

We just have to calculate where to look.

What's wobbling in your business that you can't explain?

I used to think tech was too complex, too dry, too abstract...and definitely not for me. 

But while working closely with developers on a headless content management system (HCMS), I realized:

💡 Tech isn’t just abstract logic. It’s about CREATING something that works.
→ Systems with a purpose  
→ Automations that save time  
→ Tools that make life easier

I wanted to learn how to create those systems myself.  
So I began learning programming HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and later Python.

Later, while writing my master thesis at bike components about implementing Generative AI and LLMs in a corporate setting, I noticed:

A lot of tasks didn’t need AI.  
They just needed better systems.  
They needed automation.

Since then, I’ve been exploring how to automate internal processes — with and without AI.  

And:
I'm on a mission to show how easy building your own automations and AI systems can be!

That’s also why I shifted into no-code automation.  
Because tools like Make.com and Zapier give anyone the power to build visually, intuitively and especially confidently

One big problem with AI so far wasn't the AI.

Spent Friday morning with some of the most inspiring women in New Zealand business.

Some of the key take-aways:

✨ Think global from day one.

This one hit me personally. Coming from Germany, I know how quickly the mindset shrinks when you're this far away. But the ceiling you set mentally becomes the ceiling your business hits. Thanks Anna Mowbray for highlighting its importance.

✨ Your body is part of your strategy.

Amber Taylor said it straight, physical fitness directly builds mental resilience. As a female founder, that's not optional. That's a MUST.

✨ Stop asking "why me", and just show up.

Madison Malone said something that cut through the noise:
When imposter syndrome creeps in, don't drown in it. Focus on them (client, investor, whoever it is that saw potential in you). What do they need? What's the job? Do it as well as you possibly can. That's it. No spiral. No overthinking. Just show up and deliver.

The final message from the room?

Just go do it.

Step by step. Claim your room.

You'll get there.

I hear this everywhere.

And honestly? I get why people believe it.

But here's what I see when I actually sit down with small businesses to help them automate:

Information living in someone's head.

Data scattered across spreadsheets.

Tools that don't talk to each other.

And for a lot of small businesses, especially here in New Zealand, this is their reality.

That foundation is still missing.

That's not a criticism.

It's just the honest reality between the hype and where most businesses actually are right now.

The unsexy truth?

Before AI can eliminate your admin...

You have to do the boring work of organizing it first.

AI doesn't fix chaos.

It needs a foundation to build on.

Clean data. Connected systems. Actual processes.

Not glamorous. But necessary.

The good news: you don't have to do it all at once.

Small steps still move you forward.

What's one "foundation" piece in your business you know needs fixing?

I said yes to a project I had no idea how to build

And I think it's one of the best decisions I've ever made. 

Someone asked if I could create a competitor content analyser. 

My honest reaction in that moment? 

"I have absolutely no idea if this is even possible." 

But something stopped me from saying no. 

Call it stubbornness, curiosity... whatever

Or maybe I was just tired of letting "I don't know how yet" make decisions for me. 

So I started. And I broke it down. 

Not into a perfect project plan. 

Just... what can I figure out right now? That's it. 

Because here's what I've learned about fear: 

We don't freeze because we lack the skill. 

We freeze because we're staring at the whole picture at once. 

And it's too big to hold. 

But one small step? That's manageable. 

And that step gives you just enough clarity for the next one. 

You might not always know where you're going. 

But as long as you know where to start...and you're willing to figure it out

That's enough. 

That project ended up inspiring the whole content intelligence system I now use for my own LinkedIn posts. 

None of it would exist if I'd waited until I felt ready.

Something weird happens every time I open LinkedIn.

I go to reply to a message...

And 10 minutes later I'm just scrolling. 

And I used to laugh it off "oh, that's just social media!"

But then I started noticing what it was actually costing me.

Not just time. Mental clarity.

The ability to sit with a thought long enough to finish it.

I made a decision this year to seriously reduce my screen time.

Not because I'm anti-social media.

I've experienced first hand how showing up on here can change your success,

But because I realised the version of me that shows up after useless scrolling...

is not the version of me that makes good decisions.

When you're "always on", you're not ahead.

You're in survival mode.

And survival mode won't get you closer to your goals.

What will is time to actually think.

To reflect. To process.

To have a conversation with yourself without 47 things competing for your attention.

Your calendar needs white space.

How do you make sure you protect your white space with no phone, no content, and just let your brain catch up?

Never thought I'd do this.

I just had enough of it.

I turned AI's thinking mode OFF. On purpose.

Not because it wasn't impressive. Because it was just too much.

I use AI every day, for research, strategy, building automations...

It's part of how I work now.

But somewhere between the longer responses and the deeper reasoning...

I stopped trusting my own instincts.

The answers got more detailed. More "comprehensive."

And I found myself scrolling, tweaking, adjusting...

Without actually deciding anything.

I was reacting to AI instead of leading with my own thinking.

If I'd just worked it out myself, it would have taken half the time.

There's a version of AI use that looks productive but actually just adds noise.

And I bet you've experienced the same!

Now I'm deliberate. 

I moved certain work to Claude, with Skills built specifically for strategic thinking. Structure I set. Rules I made. 

Boundaries that kept me in the driver's seat.

That's what intentional AI use actually looks like.

Not more tools. Not longer outputs.

A clear system that amplifies your thinking instead of replacing it.

I built an entire Meta-ads campaign agent with AI!

Full transparency: I had NO clue how Meta ads even worked. 😅

But it worked.

Thanks to Claude Code.

All I needed was knowing the output I wanted:

 → A single command that kicks off the whole thing. 
 → Ad copy generated. 
 → Dashboard to review it, edit and approve.
 → Images created based on brand guidelines. 
 → Second checkpoint to approve or delete ads.
 → Then auto-uploaded to Ads Manager as Paused.

So I described it to Claude Code, step by step.

In plain English. No code.

A few hours later (most of that was setting up a my facebook and ads account to be honest 😅 )...

I had an entire set up that generates an ad campaign.

Now, is it perfect? 

The actual workflow? Amazing, runs as smooth as honey (can you say that?! 😅  )

The image generation and whether it looks like your brand: 

Still depends a lot on how you set up the prompts.

But that part just takes time to test and tweak. Then it'll run perfect, too.

It's insane, I can now run /new-campaign and within 15 min, I can have 30+ new ads scheduled in my ads account. 

And I didn't write any of the code behind it.

That's the thing people get wrong about tools like Claude Code.

You don't need to have any code knowledge!

All you need is a problem you want to solve. 

And time and dedication to set it up, test it, tweak it until it fully runs with one simple command!

Most people open Claude for the first time and think:

Oh. It's like ChatGPT.

Projects (like CustomGPTs). Custom instructions. File uploads.

Familiar. Fine. Nothing groundbreaking.

And that's where they stop.

But that's not why Claude is one of the biggest conversations in AI right now.

The real power is underneath.

Claude Cowork. Claude Code. And a level of setup granularity most people never really get to.

We're talking about a files that gives every project its own permanent memory.

Skills that load specialist playbooks exactly when Claude needs them.

Commands that turn complex workflows into a single shortcut (bye bye copy-pasting same prompts over and over)

Hooks (and no, we're not talking about content hooks) that act as rules that Claude cannot skip. Ever.

For a non-technical business owner, this isn't just impressive.

It's the difference between a smart chat tool and a system that actually runs parts of your business.

But I won't lie, the first time you read the docs, it's overwhelming.

The terminology is written for developers.

That's exactly why we built our workshop.

To translate all of it into plain language, with real use cases, for people who have zero coding background.

Because this level of AI leverage shouldn't only be accessible to technical people.

Yesterday I sat in a room full of smart, driven women at a Women in Tech event.

And the most honest thing I heard?

"Everyone feels like they're behind with AI."

And honesty, even I feel it 😅  The AI anxiety is real.

But here's what nobody tells you...

Some of the most important shifts in AI only happened in the LAST FEW MONTHS.

New model updates. Claude Code. Skills.

The game changed recently, not years ago.

So if you feel behind, you're not.

You're just catching up at the same time as everyone else.

Another stat from last night that was crazy:

AI is giving us 27.2% MORE work to do (who would have thought...)

But also... 19.6% increase in out-of-hours work.

That one stings a little.

Because we adopted AI to get our lives back, not lose more of it.

Which makes me think the goal isn't just to use AI more.

It's to use it right.

And the best part of yesterday?

The reminder that we learn best from each other.

Not from courses. Not from content.

From peer-to-peer conversations in rooms exactly like that one.

AI is evolving fast.

And maybe that's the whole point...

AI isn't here to replace what makes us human.

It's here to make us more of it.  

So what better way to learn from each other, through human connection?!

What's the most honest thing someone has told you about their AI experience?

Burnout taught me something I wish I'd known sooner.

My brain wasn't invincible.

I'd been running on empty...

Poor sleep, constant stimulation, quick dopamine from scrolling

and wondering why my focus and discipline felt like they were dissolving.

Turns out, they were.

The science that hit me hardest?

Even one drink a day physically shrinks brain volume.

Scrolling rewires your attention span.

Poor sleep fills up your hippocampus like a full inbox, no room to absorb anything new.

So I started making changes. Quietly. One at a time.

Alcohol only on special occasions.

A morning walk, no phone, just silence and my own thoughts.

Treating sleep like a business priority, not a luxury.

Did I get it perfect? No.

I still catch myself reaching for my phone when I should be resting.

That quick dopamine hit is genuinely addictive.

But here's what I now know:

You don't need to overhaul everything overnight.

You just need to make the healthy choice slightly easier than the harmful one.

Lower the barrier. Build the routine. Then protect it.

Because every SMB owner I know is burning through their most valuable asset without realising it.

Not money. Not time.

Their brain.

And I don't think that's a coincidence.

The more time we spend online, scrolling, consuming, automating...

The more we hunger for something real.

A conversation that goes somewhere unexpected.

A client who says "you really got what I was trying to say."

A moment where you feel genuinely seen.

I've been building AI systems for businesses for the past year.

And the thing I keep coming back to?

AI is brilliant at tasks.

But it can't replicate what happens when you truly understand another person.

The nuances. The hesitations. The thing behind the thing.

That takes a human.

We spent this afternoon inside a workshop with Gau and Hanna from SupaHuman AI.

And I left thinking about one thing very clearly.

The businesses that learn how to integrate AI into their day-to-day operations will move forward faster. The ones that don’t will feel it over time.

Not because AI replaces people.
But because it expands what good people are capable of.

I brought a few of my team from The Social Collective with me to bring a variety of insights back into the team. From senior account management through to social, operations, and leadership … we showed up!

And what mattered most wasn’t the tools. It was how each person started thinking differently about their role.

Morgan is already mapping how we can streamline onboarding and client communication so it feels simpler and more considered from day one.

Aria is looking at how we strengthen the quality of our content. Not by removing the human element, but by making sure what we’re saying is informed, relevant, and grounded in real conversations happening right now.

Molly is refining how we manage future client communication, research, and lead handling so nothing feels disjointed or delayed.

And from my side, it’s about scale.
How we can surface better insights, faster.
How we can support more businesses without compromising the depth of thinking that sits behind our work.

Because that’s the line I care about.

AI should never dilute the experience.
It should elevate it.

We’re not using it to do less for our clients.
We’re using it to create more capacity to focus on what actually moves their business forward.

Better strategy.
Stronger ideas.
More considered execution.

Not more noise.

One of the decisions we’ve made off the back of today is to build this into how we operate as a team. Dedicated time each week to learn, test, and think critically about where AI fits into our roles.

Not as a shortcut.
As a system.

Because the future of marketing isn’t human or AI.
It’s both, working properly together.

And when you get that balance right, everything improves.
