Over the past 3 years, I’ve built a $30M ARR business with 30 people.

A $1M/employee company.

Now, we’re building a category-defining brand—with $100M ARR in sight.

Everything that got me here is self-taught.

Born and raised in Russia, I started working at 13—packing parachutes and skydiving. 🪂
By 18, I had 800+ jumps and enough saved to pay for my first year of college.

Jumping out of planes redefined my relationship with fear.
Once you commit, you act. Without hesitation.

I learned English in one year to study abroad—still the hardest thing I’ve done.
That brought me to Canada, where I earned a degree in Chemical Engineering.

I never used it.

My side projects opened doors for me—first to Deloitte, then to eBay.
But the real work happened outside the job.

I made time to build:
9–5 for the paycheck,
5–9 (both morning and night) for what I actually cared about.

That’s where I proved to myself—nothing is impossible.

In 2021, I met my cofounder. We went all-in and started building Stan.

Today, Nadine leads 50 people at Stan — after rejecting my job offer 3 times.

Two years ago, she was a contract support agent.

I’d get daily performance reports from Alexa — 
We pushed everyone to hit 60+ emails per day.

While most people struggled,
Nadine never missed a day. Always above target.

When I asked her to join full-time, she said no.
“San Diego. My husband’s job. We love the mountains.”

Six months later, another walk down Venice Beach.

"I'd love you to join Stan full-time."
"San Diego... my husband... Let me think about it."

"Is this a hard no from your family?"
"Well... I can be quite convincing."
"Good to know!"

At our Cabo offsite, Alexa said:
"V, I need a people manager. Nadine would be perfect — but she won't move."

"She told me she can be convincing. Let’s give her a reason to be."

So I went to Nadine one more time.

"I know San Diego keeps you there.
But I need your help here.

In the end, it’s either you supporting the family 
or the family supporting you.

Let me make supporting you the best decision for your family."

Alexa came with the offer.

Turns out Nadine can indeed be very convincing 
(thank you Garrett for supporting her! 🙏).

Within a year, she took over as Head of Support 
(when I asked Alexa to build a new org with me)

Thank god we didn't give up.

When you work - work. When you rest - rest.

Don't mix the two.

Last week I caught myself texting during our product meeting.

Then I zoned out on Slack for 10 minutes at dinner 
(mrs wasn't happy 😅).

It's human to want everything at once.

But here's what building Stan taught me:

The best ideas come from meetings where phones are face down.
The best conversations at home happen when Slack is off.

When you try to be everywhere, you're nowhere.

I spent years thinking "always on" showed dedication.
All it showed was lack of focus.

Your ability to drive change comes from being 100% present.
Not 70% in three places (that wastes time in 3 places).

I still slip up - often.

But when I do get it right, it’s like life slows down just enough to notice what matters.

I rewired my personality in 2 years. 

ISTJ → INTJ.

Yes, you can train intuition.

In 2022, I took the Myers-Briggs test on 16Personalities.
It said ISTJ — the Logistician.

I looked up the types of my heroes:

Elon Musk: INTJ
Steve Jobs: INTJ (or ENTP)
Jensen Huang: ENTJ
Mark Zuckerberg: INTJ
Jeff Bezos: ENTJ

Every world-shaping entrepreneur had one letter I didn't: N.

So I studied them.
Turns out, almost all are habitual readers — especially of science fiction.

This is where vision comes from:

1️⃣ Imagining a world that doesn’t exist
2️⃣ Envisioning a path toward it
3️⃣ Having the courage to start walking

The following year, I read 20+ sci-fi books — whatever they read, I wanted to read.

How I spot top 1% talent in one question.

After 100+ interviews building a $30M ARR team, I’ve boiled it down to one question:

“What have you built?”

Very few can answer it with the kind of depth that makes it undeniably clear they know what they did, why it worked, and the impact it drove.

When I find myself leaning forward, asking “Wait, how did you figure that out?” 

I know I’m talking to someone different.

Because most people work on things.
The top 1% build things.

If you’re a founder hiring - how do you spot the top 1%?

One thing I've been subconsciously lucky about —

Living where it's sunny. ☀️

I never realized how much it shaped my energy, focus, and optimism.

Until I spent a few weeks somewhere gray.
Suddenly, everything felt heavier.

It's strange how the weather can change your will to act.

With sunlight, small things feel doable.
Without it, even easy things feel like effort.

Most people underestimate how much their environment drives them.

We think it's our discipline or motivation —
But sometimes, it's just that strike of yellow on your table
Breaking through the window of a coffee shop.

If you ever feel stuck, it might not be you.
It might be the weather.

This is me building our ’26 strategy right now.

Our #1 problem:

We outgrew founder-led execution faster than we scaled our team to execute on our behalf.

As we scaled the business to $30M ARR in 3 years,

We fell behind on scaling ourselves.

2026 is going to be the evolution on how we run the company. 

My job as a Founder:
Build a machine that builds the machine.

Founders Q: What broke when you finally stepped back?

Someone recently asked me how we priced Stan at $29/mo.

Now we're a $30M ARR business.

All I said was: 🤷‍♂️ 😅

We needed to pick a number, so we did.

Our only compass was wanting to build a premium product. So we picked a premium-ish price and shipped it.

And that's what I want to share today:

No one knows what they're doing.
Even the top 1%.

In retrospect, we all have playbooks explaining why the thing we did worked and how exactly it's brilliant.

But in practice...

Every single top performer I've met is just making educated guesses and hoping for the best.

They favour action over inaction, and they trust their gut.

In the end,
Results take care of themselves.

I still remember hacking away at that 8-person WeWork table.

Back then, we’d just walk out to a nearby café for lunch.

Now, coordinating lunch across our 25-person offices is a full-blown operation.

I’m a bilingual Customer Success Manager who helps companies retain clients and scale onboarding across remote teams. I specialize in stakeholder management, cross-functional collaboration, and CRM optimization for SaaS, marketing, and nonprofit sectors.

"¿Tienes 5 minutos y te cuento?"

Mi colega me escribió para actualizarme de un tema que trabajamos juntos.

Estaba en la mitad de un día de apagar incendios con clientes y de finalizar una presentación importante para cerrar un negocio.

Dije que no.

Le propuse hacerlo async.

Mi ego me dijo que estaba siendo inflexible.

Pero estos son exactamente los momentos cuando necesitas proteger tu tiempo para entregar lo que realmente importa.

Una actualización casual no es urgente. 
Una presentación para un cliente sí.

Al final, no necesitamos los 5 minutos. 
Me mandó una nota de voz y lo manejamos así. 

La próxima vez que alguien te pida "solo 5 minutos," pregúntate: 
→ ¿Esto puede ser async? 
→ ¿Es realmente urgente? 
→ ¿Qué voy a dejar de hacer si digo que sí?

Proteger tu tiempo no es ser inflexible. Es ser estratégica/o con tu energía.

¿Cuándo fue la última vez que dijiste no a algo que "solo tomaría 5 minutos"?

No siempre ganan los candidatos más calificados.

A veces gana quien responde primero.

Estaba de turno en un pub en Londres para una final de la Champions League.

Según yo, iba a ser un día "corriente" con buen ritmo pero nada extraordinario.
Hasta que empezó a llegar la gente.

Mis colegas y yo teníamos que sacar comida y tragos súper rápido. 
Hacía calor por la cantidad de personas. 
Teníamos que asegurarnos que todas las órdenes quedaran bien.

Y aunque terminé cansada al final de la noche, fue un turno increíble:
→ Por la rapidez con la que tenía que reaccionar
→ Por la claridad mental que necesitaba para hacerlo bien
→ Por la resiliencia cuando me equivocaba y no podía quedarme quejándome

Mejor dicho, la que pensara, perdía.

Esto mismo pasa en tu búsqueda laboral.

Si vienes trabajando en tu proyecto laboral, las entrevistas empiezan a llegar una detrás de otra.

La rapidez en tu respuesta y en cuándo puedes tenerlas te ayuda a seguir adelante.

Te toca reaccionar así no te guste, o prefieras lo estructurado o lo "controlado".

A veces las mejores oportunidades llegan de momentos de alta intensidad.

Puedes tener tu día perfectamente planeado, pero si te escriben que el Hiring Manager te puede ver ese mismo día a las 2 PM para la última entrevista, dale.

Mueve lo que necesites porque esa puede ser la oportunidad que estabas esperando.

¿Cuál ha sido tu momento de "alta intensidad" que resultó en algo bueno profesionalmente?

Llegar tarde a una entrevista puede costarte la oportunidad.
Avisar no.

Esto aplica cuando tienes una emergencia real, no si llegaste tarde por mala planeación.

Si te surge algo de último minuto, avisa lo antes posible. Idealmente 10 minutos antes de que inicie la sesión.

Un correo con:

"Hola [Nombre], tengo un inconveniente con [situación]. ¿Me puedes dar 5 minutos por favor? Gracias por entender."

Así me pasó una vez. Tuve un imprevisto de último minuto y les escribí. Me dijeron: "Gracias por avisarme. Solo esperamos 5 minutos si no vienes."

Es mejor pedir 5 minutos que llegar tarde y quedar mal con los reclutadores / Hiring Managers.

Es algo básico que te ayuda a llegar a la siguiente entrevista.

¿Has tenido que pedir tiempo extra en una entrevista? ¿Cómo lo manejaste?

"¿Cuál es tu enfoque para manejar clientes?"

El Hiring Manager me hizo esa pregunta en una entrevista para un rol de Customer Success Manager.

Me sorprendí. No sabía cómo responder.

Me había preparado para las típicas:
- Cuéntame de ti
- Por qué quieres el rol
- Háblame de un desafío con clientes

Pero no para esta.

Sentí que me cambiaron la película en un segundo.

Pero aquí está la realidad: en una entrevista, tú decides la estructura de tu respuesta con este tipo de preguntas. No la persona que hace la pregunta.

Así que respondí con lo que sé hacer:
✔️ Qué he hecho (mi experiencia previa)
✔️ Por qué lo hago así (mi enfoque)
✔️ Cuáles han sido mis resultados (evidencia)

Mi respuesta no fue perfecta. 
Pero fue honesta y estructurada.

Y pasé a la segunda ronda. 

La lección: cuando te hacen una pregunta inesperada, toma 5 segundos, respira, y usa tu propia estructura para responder.

No necesitas tener todas las respuestas.
Necesitas saber cómo organizar las que tienes.

¿Cuál ha sido la pregunta más inesperada que te han hecho en una entrevista?

"Para el siguiente paso vas a hacer un desafío y presentarlo."

Amo este tipo de tareas en procesos de entrevistas.

Sí, requieren tiempo y dedicación. Y sí, a veces te pones nerviosa/o porque no sabes cómo hacerlo perfecto.

Pero te ayudan a:
→ Aprender del negocio antes de empezar
→ Conocer la cultura de la empresa
→ Pensar en el rol desde antes de iniciar
→ Decidir si realmente quieres trabajar ahí

He tenido varias de estas presentaciones. Una vez me pidieron presentar una estrategia de retención de clientes. Otra vez, cómo haría un QBR con estrategias de crecimiento basadas en los servicios de la empresa.

Cada una me enseñó algo diferente sobre el rol y sobre mí.

Si tienes una presentación próxima, esto me ha funcionado:

Antes de crear:
✔️ No te compliques. Usa un template de Canva o Google Slides.
✔️ Estudia bien la tarea. Haz preguntas si las tienes.
✔️ Si te dan permiso de crear información ficticia para la narrativa, hazlo. Te ayudará con los nervios.

Cuando practiques:
✔️ Preséntala al menos 2 veces con cronómetro en tu celular.
✔️ Esto te confirma que todo va a estar bien y que lo puedes hacer.

Las presentaciones en entrevistas no son para lucirte con un diseño súper elaborado (a menos que el rol lo requiera!).

Son para demostrar cómo piensas y cómo trabajas.

¿Has tenido que hacer una presentación en un proceso de entrevista? ¿Qué fue lo más retador? ¿Qué fue lo que más te gustó?

A uno de mis clientes le llegó una oferta laboral.

✔️ Salario interesante - Check
✔️ Temática que le gusta - Check
✔️ Trabajo remoto - Check

Pero había un detalle: era un contrato de prueba por 1 mes. "Para ver cómo te va," le dijeron. 
Sin garantía de continuar después.

Mi cliente ya trabajaba con dos consultorías que le daban buena compensación y estabilidad.

Estaba tentado y emocionado. Pero hizo una pausa para analizar.

Si lo que vas a tomar va a dañar lo que tienes ahora, no lo hagas.

Antes de aceptar un side hustle o trabajo adicional, pregúntate:

→ ¿Esto me suma o me resta? (No solo financieramente, también en estrés y calidad de trabajo)
→ ¿Lo voy a poder hacer sin reducir mi capacidad en mis proyectos actuales?
→ ¿Lo veo atractivo porque alimenta mi ego de que "me quieren en todas partes"?

Mi cliente dijo que no después de analizar su situación conscientemente.

Y tuvo la experiencia de rechazar una oferta porque no se alineaba con lo que realmente buscaba.

La sensación de tener múltiples ofertas de donde escoger es  lo máximo. 

Pero es aún mejor tener la libertad de decidir cuál se alinea más con lo que quieres.

¿Cómo has manejado ofertas que no iban en la dirección de lo que estabas buscando?

Después de 50+ sesiones de práctica de entrevistas, veo el mismo error en casi todos los candidatos.

Dan respuestas a las preguntas sin el contexto necesario. 

Y la buena noticia: tiene solución inmediata.

El reclutador tiene tu CV, pero no se acuerda de los detalles.

Si dices "En mi rol anterior manejaba un equipo" sin más contexto, el reclutador tiene que adivinar:

- ¿En qué industria?
- ¿Qué tipo de empresa?
- ¿Equipo de cuántas personas?
- ¿Eras contribuidora individual o líder?

Y adivinar no es bueno para ti.

Para cambiar esto, da contexto desde la primera oración.

En vez de: "Manejaba proyectos de marketing"

Prueba con: "Como Marketing Manager en una startup de healthtech con 50 empleados, lideraba proyectos de adquisición de clientes con un equipo de 3 personas."

Sin nombres de la empresa o colegas
Sin comprometer información confidencial
Sin hacer “name dropping” innecesario

Para prepararte, puedes: 

-> Usar bullets, no ensayos
Por cada ejemplo: 3 bullets. Situación, acción, resultado.
Practícalo en voz alta. Si te piden un ejemplo, ya lo tienes. Si te piden tres, también.

-> Ser específica/ sobre tu contribución

No digas "el equipo hizo X."

Di "yo lideré X y el equipo ejecutó Y." (Cuando aplique)

No dejes que los reclutadores asuman.

Dales la información que necesitan para verte como la persona ideal para el cargo.

Hablar con contexto no es complicado.

Solo requiere preparación.

¿Qué tan clara es la descripción de tu experiencia cuando hablas de tus roles anteriores?

"Te estás auto saboteando y no te estás dando cuenta."

Eso fue lo que me dijo mi Coach en una de nuestras sesiones.

Y tenía razón.

No siempre veo cuando mis acciones no están alineadas con lo que realmente quiero.

Todos los días me siento agradecida por tenerla a ella para que me cante la tabla en la cara. Incluso cuando no quiero escuchar lo que me dice. 

Que alguien te diga la verdad sobre cuándo la estás embarrando es uno de los mejores regalos de la vida.

Porque tu vara alta solo llega hasta donde conoces.

Alguien que ya ha recorrido el camino puede mostrarte lo que no ves y ayudarte a ampliar ese límite.

Que tu ego de no querer escuchar no te detenga de seguir creciendo laboral y personalmente.

Si tienes a alguien que te pone la vara alta todos los días y te ayuda a ser tu mejor versión, manténlos cerquita.

Es un gran regalo para ser mejor cada día.

¿Quién es esa persona en tu vida que te dice las verdades que necesitas escuchar?

El detrás de cámaras de buscar trabajo no siempre es chévere.

Está lleno de momentos donde no tienes ni p***a idea de cuál será tu próximo paso.

Días de dudas sin saber si lo estás haciendo "bien" o no.

Momentos donde ves muchos consejos pero no sabes cuál aplica para tu caso.

Semanas en las que quieres un cargo pero todas las aplicaciones que envías te dicen que no.

Y necesitas crecer financieramente pero no te han dado esa respuesta que sí.

Tener un cambio laboral es lo máximo. Ese correo de "Te queremos hacer una oferta" es muy esperado.

Y si no llega "cuando tú quieres" puede que la gasolina se te acabe.

Y yo estoy de acuerdo.

Buscar trabajo no debería sentirse "difícil" o como un "trabajo extra" pero si no lo haces y te quedas sin hacer nada, las millones de oportunidades en el mercado no te van a ver ni a reconocer.

Sigue con las aplicaciones.
Sigue manteniéndote visible en LinkedIn.
Sigue conectando con personas que te puedan llevar a esa oportunidad.

Las repeticiones conscientes y constantes son las que te llevan a tu meta.

¿Qué has hecho para seguir adelante cuando la gasolina está bajita?

Decir "no" a una oferta laboral es difícil. 

Decirte "sí" a ti mismo es mejor.

Una vez estaba en proceso con una empresa. Después de dar mi compensación actual, la reclutadora me dijo que el presupuesto de la posición estaba por debajo.

Yo le dije: "Gracias por la oportunidad pero si no hay espacio de negociación, tal vez yo no soy la persona que más hace fit para el rol."

Ella respondió: "De acuerdo. Ha sido una oportunidad para hacer networking y quedamos conectadas para futuras oportunidades."

No toda reunión con reclutadores tiene que resultar en una oferta o próximo paso.

Si las cosas están claras desde el inicio, esto te ayuda a conectar con una nueva persona sin perder tiempo.

¿Por qué es importante tener claridad sobre la compensación que quieres tener?

Porque te mantienes en tu posición.
Porque no aceptas algo menos (a menos que sea urgente)*.
Porque si decides aceptar y el salario no te funciona, eso es una renuncia garantizada en unos meses.

Define tu número mínimo antes de las entrevistas. Y mantente firme.

*Si cubrir tus necesidades básicas es la prioridad, acepta lo que te permita respirar financieramente. Desde ahí, puedes construir hacia lo que quieres.
