I know it's a hard journey because I was an IT professional myself living a sedentary lifestyle with no care for my body or health. 

Until a brain tumor shook my life in 2013 and compelled me to take my health seriously. My daily fitness routine and lifestyle helped me to recover from the surgery and move on with my life.

At that point, I decided to quit my cash cow job and help fellow professionals live a more meaningful life outside their office chairs. In the last two years since founding QubitFit, we have helped more than 400 professionals transform their health.

My vision is to coach 10,000 people in the next 10 years to help them to lose weight and stay out of obesity.

When people say, “Everything happens for a reason”, it’s absolutely true. The tumor helped me find my purpose in life - to coach people and help them to stay fit, and healthy and lead a happy life with their loved ones.

If carbs made people fat, Japan would be the most overweight nation in the world.

Japanese people eat 3 servings of white rice daily. That is, 55-60% of calories from carbs. And still they are standing tall at 4% obesity rate and boast very high life expectancy.

On the other end, America screams "CARBS ARE EVIL!" while sitting at 42% obesity.
India is at 23-25%. Blaming rice, chapati and idli for weight gain.

Same carbs. Different outcomes. 
Because it was never about the rice. It was never about insulin spikes or carb timing or glycemic index.

Basically, eating too much while moving too little makes you fat.

But that's not an attractive reason. That doesn't sell diet books or supplements or 12-week transformation programs.

So people invented enemies: carbs, gluten, insulin. Japan ignored it all. Kept eating rice. Stayed lean. Lived long.

The answer was never in macronutrient wars.
It is in fundamentals: sleep 7-8 hours, walk 8,000 steps, lift heavy things twice weekly, manage stress, eat appropriate portions and be consistent for years.

Boring? Yes.
Effective? Ask Japan.

Your chapati or rice isn't the villain.
Your unwillingness to address the real issues is.

I forgive you if you are lactose-intolerant. But not if you are logic-intolerant.

34. The age at which I became my Son's Superhero. This is when I got six-pack abs, a dream from my teenage days which I had almost forgotten about amidst corporate life.

As a Dad and a former Project Manager, I can understand if you struggle to sustain your fitness journey.

You start with the motivation to look good in your polo T-shirt or because you want to be able to play actively with your child or for health reasons.

Fast forward to a few months or a year and you end up with the same physique or have put on even more fat.

Why? Because your busy schedule takes over.

So what can you do about it?

Stop looking at fitness as an On-Off switch. Instead, see it as a dial that you regulate based on your life situation. 

I am a certified Nutrition and Fitness Consultant, who has coached hundreds of fellow Dads and Busy Professionals.

They continue to eat Rice and Dosai while getting into their fittest shape yet.

They don't go to the gym 6-7 days a week or spend endless hours on the treadmill.

They eat and train smart for fat loss, general fitness.

I am in Chennai but I wore a jacket when deadlifting today.

Not because sweating burns fat. But because November has been that kind of a month for me (and the parents I coach).

In the last 2 weeks:

- My wife was unwell

- Then my son was unwell

- I did my dad's dhevasam (shraddh)

- Then I fell sick for a day

- My son had exams. So shorter school hours, longer hours as a stay at home dad

While managing all this, I got 6 workouts done.
Some sessions had to be just 30 minutes. Still counts.

For me and some of my Clients, November has been far from perfect.

But by doing what we can, even while life keeps shifting, we stay on track.

If you are a parent, try choosing progress over perfection. That's how fitness fits real life.

My best consistency hack didn't come from a fitness influencer.

It came from my wife.

All I did was create a doable workout plan for her, enroll her at the neighborhood gym and nudge her to lift weights.

Now she's the one chasing heavier weights at sunrise.

She's the one sending me updates about her sets.

She's the one posting workout stories before I finish my breakfast.

Most people scroll Instagram or YouTube for inspiration.
I get mine from my life partner.

Getting stronger has become a shared project for us.

And we know our son is watching our habits everyday too.

If you are chasing consistency, make fitness a family habit.

Health gets easier when done together.

Every day when you are free for 15 minutes, you have 2 options:

A. You can think a 15 minute workout won't be effective. So you choose to do NOTHING.

B. You can do a quick workout, even if it's only 2 exercises. You choose to do SOMETHING.

Both Option A and B, compound over time.

But only Option B compounds in your favour.

Only Option B will help you massively reduce the risk of

- Cancer
- Diabetes
- Heart Disease

Only Option B will help you

- Live pain free (today and in old age)
- Feel great (both mind and body)
- Get strong, age gracefully

So if you have ONLY 15 minutes tomorrow, what option will you choose?

P.S. Having dumbbells and bands at home is like having a cheat code for fitness. Use them!

It's been raining constantly in Chennai since Monday. Schools are closed. As a stay at home dad, my routine is disrupted.

But staying flexible has helped me stay consistent.

I wanted to get a gym workout done yesterday. But my son didn't want to go. So I did a 15 minute home workout instead.

Today he agreed to come. So I got a 40 minute gym workout done.

Two sessions. Total of 1 hour.

This is not even close to the “optimal” bodybuilding workouts your favourite influencer posts on Instagram.

But this practical approach fits my week as I juggle work, parenting and fitness in this rain.

If you are a parent struggling with exercise consistency, remember this:

20-30 minute workouts that you can do consistently are better than the perfect 1 hour workout for which you can never find the time.

Instagram. Netflix. Alcohol.
I have stopped using these as band-aids for stress.

This weekend, I did two things to beat stress.

1. I went on a trek to Parvathamalai
2. I read a bedtime story to my son

One was big. One was small.

Both mattered.

We talk about stress like it only needs a dramatic solution.
A long vacation.
A digital detox.
A complete reset.

Nice ideas. Rarely realistic.

Stress is managed the same way fitness is built.
Daily basics plus occasional highlights.

The daily things:

These look unimpressive.
That is why most people skip them.

A short walk without your phone.
One meal without screens.
Sleeping 30 minutes earlier.
Reading to your child.
Sitting quietly with your cup of coffee/tea.

These acts tell your nervous system that it is safe.

Do them daily and stress stops piling up silently.

Then the special things:

These are the punctuations.

A trek.
A tournament.
A long drive.
A day that breaks routine and reminds you that life is bigger than deadlines.

You can't do these every day.
You don't need to.

Most people chase only the big escapes.
Then rely on daily band-aids to survive the week.

That is why stress is always simmering. Like water boiling on a gas stove on low flame. 

Your daily actions prevent overload.
Your occasional actions release pressure.

You need both.
