I'm Walid, and I'm the Founder & CEO of 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮. We are an E-Commerce Growth Agency and our mission is to help propel Pet brands forward, and ensure our little companions live long and happy lives! 🐾

As an animal-loving entrepreneur, who has raised pets his whole life, I have devoted myself to helping pet owners discover these brands that can help them achieve the one thing that every pet parent wants; keeping our pets happy and healthy!

As I stepped back and looked at the industry, it became clear that many pet brands are fighting an uphill battle trying to attract new customers. They might have amazing products or offer services that give them the potential to become market leaders in this space, but they still struggle to get noticed because they neglect their digital marketing.

The obstacles that pet business owners are accustomed to, combined with my ability to effectively implement marketing strategies have led me to establish Plathera Media.

Passionate about animal welfare, the benefits of payroll giving, growing and developing the performance of small charities. 

Currently working as the Development Manager for Together for Animals, leading on the day to day operations and growth of the charity. 

Together for Animals raises much needed funds for its four member charities. Animals contribute so much to our mental and physical wellbeing - by working together we are ensuring that they can enjoy happier, healthier lives. Every donation helps four charities save thousands of animals lives, making it a unique way of supporting a range of charities helping thousands of animals in desperate need of our help in both the UK and across the world.

Development Manager

EDT (The Engineering Development Trust)

Leading on the design and delivery of the national ‘First Edition’ programme of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths (STEM) curriculum enrichment workshops and activities, aimed at widening participation in STEM subjects by under-represented groups. Reporting to the COO and one of the Senior Management Team, my role involves:
•	Creating and delivering the business strategy in line with EDT’s national strategy, and to ensure the growth of the First Edition programme and its leading place in a competitive sector.
•	Deputising for the Director, leading on a number of key projects.
•	Target setting, budget setting, and forecasting to support EDT’s national strategy.
•	Identifying, establishing and maintaining relationships with sponsors, schools, stakeholders and volunteers.
•	Leading, managing, recruiting and developing the First Edition team nationally.
•	Providing regular statistics and progress reports against targets and impact measures to the Board of Trustees, sponsors and stakeholders.
•	Developing content, including new workshops to ensure the high quality and continued success of the programme.
•	Developing the marketing, online, and internal and external communications activity to assist with the growth and maximise the reach of the programme.
•	Leading the evaluation and continuous improvement of the programme.

Head of Programme - First Edition

University of Birmingham

Delivered a programme of high-profile events that included major overseas conferences, VIP events and launches that enhanced the reputation of the College to a variety of local, national and international audiences and assisted recruitment of students to the College’s departments. Ensured the events programme was of a consistently high quality and promoted a positive image of the College. 

Key achievements: 
•	Created and delivered an effective College events strategy, including marketing, post-event evaluation and financial processes, to contribute to the College’s recruitment activity.
•	Delivered the 2013 Tourism and the Shifting Values of Cultural Heritage conference in Taipei, Taiwan, and the 2012 and 2013 Ironbridge Institute of Cultural Heritage Summer Schools.
•	Collaborated with the International Department to develop the programme for the first University of Birmingham International Summer School.
•	Evaluated existing internal communications channels and delivered an internal communications reorganisation.
•	Developed strong relationships with both internal and external partners.

Head of Events - College of Arts and Law

Working on the independent movie 'Turbulence' looking after the PR, events and communications as well as assisting with social media strategy.

PR Manager for Turbulence

Broad Street Business Improvement District

Responsible for the planning and implementing of the events, marketing and PR strategy. I created and delivered a full marketing and events programme, produced and circulated press releases, managed event specific budgets and the production of the promotional materials. I was responsible for the production of the stakeholder newsletter, the internal magazine and website content and issued progress reports against BID business plan, including Key Performance Indicators, to board and management committees.

Key achievements: 
•	I created and delivered the communications and PR strategy for the Broad Street Business Improvement District’s successful renewal vote in 2010 – securing a 94% ‘yes’ vote, the most successful result of this nature at that time.
•	Created and successfully delivered high profile events, promotional and PR opportunities.
•	Implemented new stakeholder communications and events plan to positive feedback.
•	Secured around £1.5m of positive PR coverage per annum for Broad Street area.
•	Managed development of new website and iPhone app.
•	Monitored and managed marketing budget of £100k per annum, ensuring best value achieved for all projects.
•	Wrote and launched the new magazine publication ‘The Word’.
•	Fostered key relationships throughout the city to assist the BID’s business plan and ensure positive working relationships.

Marketing, Communications and Events Manager

Axon Global

Supported the Events and Communications Director. Assisted in development and delivery of communications plan, coordinated events, administration of stakeholder database, edited copy before final publication. Monitored operational and financial plans, reported to senior management against delivery schedule. 

•	Designed process for tracking stakeholder communications 
•	Provided solutions to issues around events and communications delivery 
•	Ensured team remained on target and assisted the successful delivery of communications plan, presented project delivery updates to senior management

Communications & Events Coordinator

Highways Agency

Coordinated the production of a monthly profile of staffing levels within the Traffic Officer division, managed the recruitment and training programmes, ensured staff levels remained at optimum service level and within budget, liaised with colleagues in the Finance and HR departments to report expected issues. 

•	Promoted in June 2006 for role to include management of two administration staff 
•	Developed mechanism for reporting against staffing outputs 
•	Encouraged team working and motivated and developed two team members

Project Coordinator

Luminar Leisure

Co-ordinated the setting up of a new membership scheme, involving a mail shot to existing members, training staff on use of system and supervising a team of promotional staff during our introductory evenings. Prepared a database of member and contacts, including local businesses. Established a relationship with these contacts and updated on a regular basis. 
Organised promotional events, including Christmas dinners/parties and the New Years Eve event. Circulated press releases and organised advertisements for local newspapers and radio alongside radio competitions to accompany these events and promotions. Attended meetings with suppliers and distributors and arranged product promotions.

Marketing & Events Coordinator

AMC Cinemas           Oxford / Slough / Birmingham

Managed a team of more than 50 staff motivated, developed and trained these in customer service and processes. Prepared the Box Office staffing rota, managed the box office staffing budget, held weekly meetings and training sessions with all cash handling staff.
Developed new recruitment and induction policy and process for staff, held monthly meetings and training sessions with staff, carried out disciplinary procedures. Developed policies for day-to-day accounting, budget management and stock management. 
Organised marketing and promotion of venue, liaised with local media, organised preview shows for press, arranged competitions in local press and on local radio and issued weekly press releases. Implemented discount schemes with local businesses. 
Ensured the implementation of the company's customer service policy, ticketing system and box office procedures. Undertook daily banking, cashed-up takings, prepared floats and undertook safe checks, stock control checks budget management.
