OMG! I hit 20k followers!! SO excited...

I totally forgot to bother posting about it.

See, it's nice to see.

Even the "vanity metrics don't matter" in me got slightly pushed to the side.
Dopamine filled my brain.
Reflected on my journey from 0.

And then thought:
"Good. Now back to work."

It took me 5 years of posting to get here...

Not exactly meteoric growth.

A Top Voice badge is nice and showed me not to focus on the numbers.

But 5 years is far from impressive.

But then there's this:
If 20,000 people engaged with me daily, I'd be "truly amazed, humble and grateful".

But they don't.

A majority won't have a clue in blue hell who I am.

So to those who do see this.
Who do engage.
Thank you.

For that, it still blows my mind, and I am eternally grateful.

But I'm more grateful for how my content has drawn in my clients:

From struggling to be seen and close deals to $600k months.
From 20k to 70k followers.

From $3k launches to $20k launches (and then tripling that within 3 months).

From having 0 calls in 6 months to 8 calls in 2 weeks.

From 0 calls to $15k within 4 weeks...

From having the honour of starting work with people to seeing them move onto that next level and no longer need me.

That's what needs to be counted and celebrated.

Almost $3m done together.

20k (actually 20,076 followers now 🙄)  looks and feels great.

Just don't let it be the only number you look at and see.

Followers don't = conversion and new clients.
(and don't let anyone tell you otherwise).

Conversion is what to really focus on.

But thank you, genuinely, to each one of you.

That's not a content win.

The gurus won't tell you this, but:
 
High engagement + zero calls = you're entertaining, not converting.

It's not hard to convert on LinkedIn.

(but #3 is vital to do daily)
 
(serious - you're going to want to 💾 save to come back to later).

Everyone is posting... but few are converting.

Your views are fine.
Your likes are decent.

But the leads? 
The clients? 
The sales?

Silent.

So you start wondering.
In bed, in the middle of the night:

“Is it my niche? 
It must be my niche.

My offer? 
Yeah, it's that.

My writing?
I mean - everyone uses ChatGPT, right?! 

The algorithm?
Yeah. It's that fkn algorithm.
That's the problem."

It buzzes around your head until you drift off, believing ultimately it's not your problem. 

I've got some good news.
And a bit of bad news for you:

You’re not broken
(good news).

Your content strategy is.
(it's stuck in 2023).

And if you don’t fix it fast, you’ll keep attracting the wrong people, repelling the right ones, and blending in with everyone else posting the same vanilla fluff.

But the Top 1 percent?

They use a structure and workflow so intentional that it almost feels like a cheat code.

Here’s how we do it 👇

1️⃣ Build a Funnel with Your Content 
↳ Start by mixing Super TOFU, TOFU, MOFU and BOFU across your feed so people meet you at every awareness level (pages 2 and 3).

2️⃣ Use AI the Smart Way (Because Your Competitors Don’t)
↳ Scrape Reddit for the symptoms your niche actually complains about and use those exact phrases in your posts (page 4).

3️⃣ Understand That DMs Are a Non-Negotiable Strategy (Not for chatting to your Linky besties )
↳ Start every DM with commonality so they instantly feel like the conversation is natural, not a pitch (page 6).

4️⃣ Bridge Their Symptoms to What You Do
↳ Use “So I imagine in your role...” statements to connect their day-to-day struggle with your solution (page 7).

5️⃣ Dig for the Real Pain Before You Pivot
↳ Alternate “what” and “why” questions 3 to 4 times before offering the next step (pages 8 and 9).

If you shift your mindset from “posting” to “guiding,” your content stops being ignored and starts converting.

I've waited 28 years for what happened.

A pure love story went full circle.

The last time my beautiful Scotland qualified for a World Cup,
I was 14 years old.
1998.

I remember clearly running home from school to watch it.

The excitement of it all - we hadn't qualified for USA 94, so it had been an eternity since we last did - I was 6 years old (!).

We opened the tournament on a sunny Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

We lost 2-1 against Brazil (that first Scotland going in gave us that familiar (unfounded) belief).

Since then, we've failed every time.

Gotten close, but an abject failure at the end,
Every time.

It's become such a common theme, we expect it - yet never lose hope or belief.

Failure.

Last night, we had to win to qualify for the World Cup automatically.
Another 2 playoff games are not for the faint-hearted.

In the dying minutes of the game, a winning goal.

In the final minute of the game, deep into injury time, an audacious shot from the halfway line.

4-2.

We saw 3 wondergoals.
We saw tears.
Elation.
Joy. 

That feeling of pride, togetherness and a collective achievement from the players, training staff and supporters.

All with no fingernails left. 

Something which you can wait (almost!) a lifetime for.


And the thing it taught me about business?

Absolutely nothing fs.

This is a celebratory post and nothing else - let's not sour it by tacking on a useless business analogy! 

"No Scotland, No Party" is the refrain we bring as we're famous for our passion, desire, heart and spirit.

We'll see you in North America or Mexico next summer.

But does the hero's journey REALLY work for LinkedIn content??

I knew that having great graphics and content was vital...
But I didn't have the time to invest and knew my results would be rubbish

And damnit, those pesky DMs....
How do I get people to book calls with me without pitchslapping them - or becoming best friends instead 🤦‍♂️

You’ve been posting. 
Commenting. 
Showing up every day...

And still wondering why your calendar is quiet.

It feels unfair, right?
You’re doing everything the gurus say.
But the results never match the effort.

It’s becoming invisible to the people who would happily pay you.

↳ Add one quotable insight every time you comment, even if it’s short.

3️⃣ Track What Actually Books Calls
→ Vanity metrics look good, but they don’t fill pipelines.
↳ Start measuring accepts, replies, and calls booked every Friday without fail.

4️⃣ Run the 15-15-15 Cadence
→ When done right, 45 minutes can outperform 2 hours of random engagement.
↳ Do 5 SCAN DMs, 5 insight comments, and 5 signal based connections in the morning... then repeat two more times later.

5️⃣ Use the Conversation Domino Effect
→ SCAN opens the door, but FEELS or BLEED moves people to calls.
↳ After a symptom or pain comment, run one FEELS or BLEED pivot to navigate the next step.

You’re not far off.
You’re just one strategic shift away from weekly qualified calls feeling normal instead of lucky.

Why Consistency Was Never Enough - How I book 3-5 Qualifie

I just about ruined a huge launch.

And I'm likely about to be punished for it.

What a great day:

Write a great piece of content.
Genuinely one you sit back at and go "yeah. brilliant".

Spent 30 mins creating a kickass image to go alongside it.
(Almost nailed it).

Then realised I hadn't checked my launch schedule.

Yeah.

I've botched my own launch fs 🤦‍♂️

(by the way, WHAT an offer I have for you - ridiculously good 👀 
I might even have some friends helping me out (if they're still talking to me after this)).

A couple hundred of you saw it before I committed the cardinal sin:

I deleted it.

Doing so made me vomit.

You see, whispers abound that if you delete a piece of content, your reach gets damaged for the next couple of weeks.

So.

Launch almost ruined.
Reach for a couple of weeks, probably ruined.

So here I am breaking another 'rule' and writing a whiny post and posting it within minutes of deleting the other.

And whilst I'm at it, why not add a truly disgusting image to emphasise how I "vomited".
(cos everyone exaggerates on LinkedIn)

I hope I still have a reputation intact tomorrow.

First, you must understand this clearly:
 
Your audience already has money set aside. 
They're mentally prepared to buy. 
They're actively looking for offers. 

And they make decisions faster this week than any other.
  
But most solopreneurs sabotage their own offers...
And then complain Black Friday doesn't 'work' for them.

(Spoiler: YOU don't work for IT).

They throw together a weak offer because "it's just low ticket."
 
Wrong move.
 
Buyers judge your premium work by your low ticket work.
 
Sloppy product. 
Sloppy perception. 
Damaged authority.
 
Stop pricing so hard.
Black Friday should be about volume.
 
→ Price points that convert when doing it alone: 
💰 $17, $27, $37, $47, $97 

→ Above $100 kills impulse buying 
→ Product should feel worth 5-10x the price 
→ Solve ONE clear problem with ONE quick win 
→ Make it fast to consume, not a 47-module monster
→ Bundle and repurpose what you already use with clients.
 
But thisd is where it gets fun:
 
You already have the assets.
Read that back again.

You're 80% of the way there.

Previously, you had two options to create killer infographics:

⏱️ Do it yourself (poor quality + a lot of time lost).

So, I tried this:

🍌 I uploaded a presentation about DM Strategy.
🍌 I opened up Nano Banana Pro (Google's amazing new image gen ai)
🍌 I asked it to generate an infographic based on the key points of the data.

It took 70 seconds.

And developed THESE infographics.

Perfect text.
Looks great.
As good as a lot out there.

And this is great for those of us on LinkedIn, because:

 ↳ Which means more dwell time, which means more REACH.

→ Infographics and Cheatsheets get saved a LOT more than other posts
 ↳ Which means you get more REACH

I feel that this is THE AI MOMENT of 2025.

Everyone thought Google had lost the AI war.
Turns out, they were just getting ready.

How to create a KILLER Infographic in 2 steps

20 years in GTM sales.

We can smell it a mile away.

Yellow Pages energy.
Needy. 
Desperate.
 
1997 wants its strategy back.
(when you offer a call to anyone, I know you're not booked with clients).
 
Here's what most GTM folks don't get:
 
They're not experienced sellers learning a new channel.

They're protected sellers who just got exposed.
 
Protected by inbound leads. 
Company pipelines. 
Warm intros from marketing.
For far too long.
 
LinkedIn exposed the truth: they've never had to earn attention from scratch.
 
The cost?
 
12 unqualified "intro calls" per week. 
30 mins each.
Let's say they charge just $250/hour normally...
 
$156,000 a year. 
Burned. 

On calls that were never going to close.

As opposed to speaking to the RIGHT people and closing deals.
 
And every failed pitch isn't just a "no." 
It's a poisoned well.
 
You know how it feels to be coerced onto a call that turns into a 25-minute pitch.
 
Used. 
Manipulated. 
Never again.

And it's not your fault - but it doesn't work in 2025.

The fix isn't complicated. 
It's just different.
 
The DM isn't for pitching. 
It's for qualifying.
 
The call comes AFTER the've earned it.

1. SCAN first to see where the individual is.

2. Symptom given? Go the FEELS route and show the solution - then pivot to pitch.

3. Bleeding-neck painpoint given? Go the BLEED route and get a sales call booked.
 
Master that, and you stop burning money on dead calls.

You attract the right people and let those years of closing do the heavy lifting for you.

Solopreneurs notoriously leave money on the table.

Just waiting. Hoping for high-ticket to appear 🤦‍♂️

Posting.
And posting.

Waiting.
And waiting.

Wondering why that "big high-ticket client" rarely comes around.
Worrying about cashflow at the end of each month..

Yet doing nothing about it.

Listen, it's not your fault.

The gurus tell you just to "build a personal brand" and "just post!".

It's cute, but not making you money.

You should be making it as accessible as possible for your audience to get closer to you.
To identify who will actually put their hand in their pocket...
And spend cash.

Most people don't do low-ticket offers as they "don't see the value".
They don't understand how $47 makes $47,000 within a year.

You need to stop seeing it as revenue.
And start seeing it as a foot in the door.

To allow those who like you to get that bit closer.
To stop feeding off the free stuff and get to the hard stuff!

A buyer once is a buyer forever.

And that's why your low-ticket offers should be PAINFUL to give away.
It SHOULD hurt.

Because it SHOULD hurt them to work 1:1 with you later down the line.

Every one of you have something you can sell.
Something you've previously made.
Something which solved THAT problem for someone.

That's your low-ticket offer.

This isn't about making fast money.
It's about building a sustainable pipeline.
That leads them towards your bigger offer(s).

i wonder how many this will resonate with?

you see, everything you've been told isn't true.

the algo isn't against you. and nothing really matters.

formatting. 
a post looking a certain way to do 'well' on linkedin. having to attach an image or a selfie to everything or the post gets sent straight to the depths of linkedin hell.
every post looking the same.

that boring,fluffy,perfektly spelt post (which was written by chatgpt anyway).
the same themes,
topics,
ideas,
speak.

the impossibility of actually wanting to be a bit different,
and say what you want and how you feel
(maybe even put a swear word somewhere in your copy, but not have the brazenness to leave it completely uncensored, so write it like sh#t or sh*t or sh!t instead of just writing 'shit'. or just not say it at all, because this is linkedin and not facebook <or insert relevant social media platform here> and many still don't understand what a brand in 2026 can look like.

everyone just feeling so.. restricted.

i dunno. i feel sometimes we've become too sanitised.
too polished.
too performative
(and i'm as guilty as the next for it)..
(( just look at the way I've stated formatting without even thinking about it... )).

So, I'm intrigued:
A post.

Unedited.
Stream of consciousness-style.
Will it get read?
Will it get ignored?
Does anybody actually care how it's formatted?
Have we lost creative and artistic license?
Do people REALLY read like this nowadays
(but only on LinkedIn).

Call this a love-letter to expressionism, creativity and experimentation.

Or call this the worst post you've seen on LinkedIn today.
(it's still the best platform for building your business, let's be honest).

Either way, we both win.
