2016 vs 2026: you had to be there

Ten years ago, I was a young adult living in Berlin, fresh out of school, working in Finance and already certain it wasn’t for me.

After a trip to Indonesia, I became curious about tech. While living in Italy, I started learning to code: 2 to 4 hours every day, teaching myself HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

That led me to design, and eventually to Webflow, where I finally felt the freedom to build and create.

I started freelancing on Upwork. It was barely making money, but I kept going.

One small project after another, until one day, I met Sina Sadegh, a client who would later become the co-founder of magier.

Looking back now, everything changed because I followed my curiosity and stayed committed to learning.

You don't need:

If you can do both → even better.

Most people overthink this.

Most founders & marketers track 50+ KPIs. 
But here are the 5 that really matter!

→ CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost): What you pay to get one customer.
→ LTV (Customer Lifetime Value): What that customer is worth over time.
→ LTV:CAC Ratio Below 3:1 = burning cash. Above 5:1 = leaving growth on the table.
→ Conversion Rate: The % that moves your needle. (visitor → lead, lead → customer, trial → paid)
→ Churn Rate: How fast you're losing customers.

That's it.

One Slack channel saved our company.

Sounds dramatic. But is true.

2 years ago we were going through a really bad time. 

Clients were churning. Daily problems. And the company was super unprofitable.

I realized we had lost momentum and everyone was just staring at what wasn't going well.

You don’t need a big budget to build a strong brand.

You need clarity and consistency.

I guess I don’t need to tell you about the importance of a strong brand.
It builds trust. It attracts the right clients. And can make your business feel bigger than it actually ist.

The best part?

It doesn’t have to be expensive.

I would start with:
• A clear logo
• A small, intentional color palette
• A few repeatable visual elements
• One or two fonts you actually stick to

And then it is all about being consistent.

Using the same look everywhere is what signals quality.

Founder to founder:
No one really cares about your company if your design looks bad.

Not because your product isn’t good.

But because most people never stick around long enough to find out.

Design is leverage.

It helps you:
 • stop the scroll
 • look credible
 • actually be remembered

That’s why investing in great design is one of the highest-ROI moves you can make.

People don’t hear about you first.

They see you first.

This website is literally changing it’s look based on the time of the day and year.
