and the conversations went way deeper than the typical “networking” vibe.

the one person who reframes something you’ve been stuck on for months.

what hit me that night was simple:
the people you surround yourself with shape how far you can see.
and founders forget that when we’re carrying the weight alone.

but so does stepping into the world
meeting people who expand your thinking
and putting yourself in places where luck can actually find you.

I left the event more grounded, more inspired, and more committed to the long game.

I’ve been holding everything together for months - building multiple companies in public, streaming for hours a day, raising capital, debugging product, onboarding new systems, jumping between 9 different channels.

Yesterday it hit me how easy it is to forget that I’m still just one person.

The weight sneaks up quietly.
Then suddenly it’s in your chest.

That mix of purpose, exhaustion, momentum, fear.

People see the output - the streams, the traction, the optimism.
They don’t see the part where you’re trying to keep the entire structure standing while making sure nobody feels the cracks you’re carrying.

I’m learning that the emotional weight isn’t the enemy.
It’s the signal that you’re on the edge of becoming someone new.

Building in public exposes everything.
But it also forces you to grow faster than you thought you could.

Building in public forces a different kind of growth. 

When you build privately, you can hide your confusion.
Your mistakes.
Your fear.

When you build publicly, everything is visible. the decisions, the pivots, the broken pieces.

At first, it’s uncomfortable.

Eventually, it becomes a superpower.

You stop performing.
You start refining.

The market learns you.
You learn the market.
Trust compounds.

Public building is pressure, but it's also clarity.

AI doesn't replace people. It replaces the version of you that refuses to adapt. 

The founders who win in 2025 won’t be the ones with all the answers.

Internet micro-dialects.

Everyone is still underestimating what's coming.

The moment it clicked for me was onboarding my assistant.
She went from overwhelmed → extremely capable in a matter of hours.

The baseline skill level in society is unbelievably low.
Once AI becomes even slightly more intuitive, output will explode for the people who lean in - and collapse for everyone else.

We’re about to see a gap form that nobody is prepared for.

And it won’t be about money or access.
It’ll be about willingness to adapt.

People see momentum. They don't see the weight. 

Right now I’m building multiple companies in public.
Raising capital.
Streaming daily.
Fixing product.
Onboarding teams.
Running events.
Rebuilding distribution loops.
Navigating Discord.
Trying to be everywhere at once.

And at the same time, I’m holding the emotional energy for everyone around me - optimism, stability, certainty.

The truth is: some days it feels like everything could collapse.
Other days it feels like I’m inches from the biggest breakthrough of my life.

That tension is the actual founder journey.
Not the highlight reel.

Founders underestimate how chaotic real distribution is. 

The deeper I go into Discord and creator culture, the more it feels like the early Bitcoin mining days - messy, unpredictable, tribal.

No rules.
No clean frameworks.
Just raw chaos.

Yesterday I spent hours hopping between servers, absorbing the culture in real time, talking to people who basically live online.

And it hit me:

The future belongs to founders who can navigate chaos and culture at the same time. 

You can’t outsource this.
You can’t “hire a community manager” and hope they understand the culture better than you.

Distribution is becoming a cultural skillset, not a marketing function.

The founders who win will be the ones who learn how to move inside the chaos without losing themselves.

when you make sovereignty accessible
the system treats you like a problem

it’s easier for them to lump bitcoin into the same category as whatever token launched last week than to admit what mining actually represents.

self-custody.
energy-backed independence.
a level playing field.

this wasn’t a compliance decision.
it was a censorship moment disguised as policy.

but here’s the thing:
bitcoin was built for moments like this.

I’m not discouraged.

A little announcement as I update my experience on LinkedIn…

I’ve been building with the brilliant founder Rachel Kastelein as I contribute to WickBooks as Head of Product & Strategy.

Keen to shape the product direction as WickBooks grows into its place in the AI management space. And I’d love to hear from my HR and L&D mates as we continue to explore ICPs and market fit.

It’s around this time of year that I pull out the big annual planner and do the same ritual…
Look back at the year we squeezed every drop out of, then wipe it clean and prep the blank canvas of the next one.

Looking at our 2025 board made me laugh.
So many getaways. So many weekends where we said “yep, let’s just go.”
For two people who like to be organised, we’re also very good at leaving space for spontaneous adventures. A happy contradiction.

And sitting above it all were the goals I set back in January.
I didn’t hit all of them.
But the ones I did… I smashed.

→ Read 50 books... currently sitting at 66
→ Learn a new skill… I picked up skiing and vibe-coding.

The rest will roll over to 2026.
Some have been on the list since 2024, but I’m persistent. That’s part of the reflection too.

I’m grateful for this pause between years.
A chance to reset, recalibrate, and get honest about what I want more of… and what I’m happy to leave behind.

Tomorrow’s Thanksgiving in the US, so we pointed the car north and did the thing we’ve talked about for ages… finally stopped at a Bass Pro Shop.

Peak America. Zero regrets.

Before sunset we wound our way up a misty Vermont mountain to our little Airbnb cabin in the woods. Mulled wine brewing. Fireplace blazing. And the rain… absolutely hammering down on the roof. A simple luxury you forget once you’ve been in apartment living for too long.

We’ll be on the WiFi tonight… but the plan is to lose ourselves to ski legs and too much turkey.

This morning’s Developer Relations in AI session, hosted by Rochelle Sonnenberg at Fabrik, got me thinking about bridges.

Abby Mitchell talked about DevRel as the bridge between builders and users, where technical work becomes shared understanding, and shared understanding becomes trust.

It took me back to my UK EdTech days, leading the link between developers managing licence systems and the marketing and sales teams driving renewals. Different industry, different tech stack… same challenge: turning complex systems into something people understand and value.

That’s what adaptability looks like to me. It’s not about starting over, it’s about spotting the patterns that show up everywhere, and learning the language of the next one.

My 2026 focus: deepening my tech literacy so I can bridge those worlds even better.

Morning coffee in Battery Park with Rachel Kastelein… two ex-educators comparing notes on where her AI for people and teams is heading. The pace is wild, and it feels good seeing more women building the tools that will shape how we learn and lead. Every chat like this reinforces how quickly AI is moving from a ‘nice idea’ to a real expectation in modern enablement.

We grabbed a quick Hudson photo before heading off. Conversations like this pull me back to what matters… useful systems, real adoption, humans at the centre. 

Curious how others are seeing this shift… from ‘AI is interesting’ to ‘AI is now part of how we enable our teams.’

Cut to me… in Vermont… pretending I know what I’m doing on a green.

Adult learning is wild.
My brain’s like: we’re grown, we career-pivoted, we moved countries… surely we can manage sliding on snow?

And my legs are like: absolutely not.

So I’m embracing the ugly stage… especially the slightly-panicked descent on any blue.
The bit where you’re bad and you stay bad until one day you’re… less bad.

Tiny reps. Tiny wins. A lot of cold.

Practice to mastery… or at least until the turns stop feeling like high-stakes negotiations with gravity ⛷️❄️

This weekend we hosted our first Cheese & Conspiracies night. 
As the comedian Ron Funches says… 
“You don’t believe in any conspiracy theories?... That’s a strong stance to take.”
It wasn’t about being right. Just low-stakes theories, good cheese, and a lot of laughing at how differently we all connect the dots.

The weekend also included a wander around Grounds for Sculpture. Some pieces made instant sense. Others needed a tilt of the head. 
My favourite was Giant George by Gordon Gund, who lost his sight in his 30s and sculpted it purely by touch.


Highly recommend finding people and stepping into situations that challenge how you see things.

I’ve been tinkering with AI for a while, but this Google piece finally nudged me to look at agentic AI properly.

Also testing it for a very practical reason… I need to book a week of skiing in Europe in 2026, and anything that cuts down the admin is a win.
