A few facts:

• Historical pass rate: 15–25%  
• Passing score required: 75% (60 out of 80 questions)  
• Exam administered by U.S. Customs and Border Protection

Recent pass rates:

• April 2025: 30%  
• October 2024: 24%  
• May 2024: 13%  
• October 2025: ~12%

The exam is open book, but candidates must quickly navigate thousands of pages of regulations including:

• HTSUS tariff classification  
• Title 19 of the Code of Federal Regulations  
• Import entry procedures  
• Valuation, duty assessment, quotas, FTZ, and drawback

For context, many well-known professional exams have significantly higher pass rates.

The Customs Broker License remains one of the most challenging and respected credentials in global trade and customs compliance.
