Ensure efficient use of city resources while maintaining transparency and accountability to community members by conducting risk-based performance and compliance audits, contracts audits, and annual financial statement audit preparations. Support city objectives by identifying risks and improvement opportunities. Analyze operations and controls to confirm that financial and operational information is accurate and reliable.

Completed a departmental audit freeing up resources, locating funds, and improving compliance. Results of audit included:
     - A potential annual savings of 320 hours of labor valued at $5K+ by reducing improper installations and unnecessary testing.
     - Non-compliance with safety policy improving the departments notification to the Fire Department for confined space entry by 100%.
     - Discovery of $70K+ in inventory errors requiring reconciliation and correction
     - Found 2 capital assets that were not properly retired by the accounting department. Collaborated with department to update their capital assets processes and procedures.
     - Found $3,000 in over payments for 35 items on one purchase order.

Completed a contracts audit resulting in process updates and reduction of lost revenue:
     - Found $25K in non-compliant purchases resulting in purchase policy updates to ensure all future purchases are in compliance.
     - Discovered $2,500 in missed savings on 7 service invoices. Recommended a paperless and streamlined invoicing approval processes which was implemented to reduce errors and save city resources.
     - Located a Sole Source vendor error which resulted in the implementation of an updated Sole Source vendor usage and justification procedure to ensure the city was always able to get the best prices on future purchases.

Internal Auditor

U.S. Department of the Treasury

Audited banking institutions and regulators to ensure safety, soundness, and compliance with federal financial regulations. Evaluated internal management and administrative controls of individual financial institutions through review of the institutions Reports of Examination for compliance with mortgage lending practices, SOX, BSA, AML, as well as their process for filing and tracking SAR’s and CTR’s. 
Assessed the oversight functions of the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) and their enforcement of banking regulations to identify high-risk areas for fraud or abuse. Developed, quantified, and delivered audit outcomes and recommendations for improvement through daily communications with senior staff, and elected or appointed officials.

Jeremy is a 12-year audits/examinations veteran and a Certified Fraud Examiner, Certified Internal Controls Auditor, and a Certified Economic Crime Forensic Examiner. He is also a military veteran as a US Navy Submariner and graduated from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting.
